Disagree totally. Thai is simplicity itself. Learn the alphabet (there's only one) using the kindergarten chart, which any Thai of any age will probably be able to rattle off. Memorize the consonant classes (they're colour coded on the chart). Learn the tones and tone rules - surprisingly simple. The syntax and grammar are easy. No verb conjugations, no gender forms, no declensions, no plurals, phonetic pronunciation, bearing in mind tones. English: 2 alphabets. Innumerable tenses. Unbelievably weird spelling, frequently non phonetic. Plurals, apostrophes, genders (not as bad as EU languages), impossibly inconsistent pronunciation. The hardest thing is writing. But reading and speaking Thai is really not that hard.

U.S. military poised to return to Subic Bay, counter China's presence

Hmmm. Slightly skewed stats. China has had 13 winners since 1957. India, 11 in all, including Rudyard Kipling! Most laureates listed belong to countries who were in from the start, ie 1901. The PRC only came into being in 1949. It's obvious looking at China's achievements in the last 50 years they have, and have had, amongst the best scientists/engineers in the world. India has had a whole group of astounding mathematicians who never got recognised, but then there's no Nobel prize for mathematics. Just for instance. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nobel_laureates_by_country# -

They did. But they didn't take Clark with them! It was buried in volcanic ash. The ash is still evident to this day in the area. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991_eruption_of_Mount_Pinatubo -

So why don't they take on just Russia even, in Ukraine? With all their NATO allies. BTW USSR died the death in 1991. -

Yes, it's vast, and totally underused as a civilian airport, just like U-Tapao. Both B-52 launch pads. You used to be able to fly there from Bangkok, but now it's just Korean and Japanese flights I think, and maybe Singapore. If it had a high speed rail link to Manila, it would have alleviated a lot of Nino Aquino congestion. Like U-Tapao. -

They have one, at Clark, in Pampanga. Never been to Angeles City? Their very own red light district. -
Just a note: Some private hospitals here are definitely charging top $. 17,500 THB for my annual checkup at BPH. But down the road at Bangkok Jomtien Hospital, 5,100 THB, plus 1,200 THB or so for a couple of extras I requested. Almost identical sets of tests, sent up the road to BPH for analysis. Had the results back same day. Very nice doctor gave me sensible advice, never tried to sell me a single pill/treatment, just exercise and diet. I'm 72 with Afib.

If, if, if. Nothing would have got done. They'd still be arguing over it right now. Passed from ministry to ministry, to the RTP, to the doctors, to the growers, to whoever, and back again. What he did was to pull off a spectacular coup, and got weed pretty much available, growable and sellable. Ok, he screwed up big time in the early days of COVID, but there were many powerful factions involved. I think this makes up for all that.

Read the full article. "She cited a report that sees 24 SET-listed private hospital service providers enjoying revenue and profit growth in the first quarter of 2022 when compared to the same period of the previous year. According to her, the hospitals’ total revenues increased 48.9% year-over-year (YoY) to over 125 billion baht in the first quarter of 2022 and their net profits grew by 173.8% YoY to over 24 billion baht. The growth was mainly attributed torevenues from Thai patients who sought medical treatment for Covid-19 infections." Last sentence. You done? And what's wrong with the premise that people might come here as cannabis is legal for medicinal purposes, amongst others?

Here's the OP: "Pattaya — A foreign man allegedly brutally beat his young, 20-year-old Thai girlfriend while drunk early Tuesday morning, November 22nd, claiming police “got his back”. The incident took place at a residence in the Eakmongkol 8 Village in Banglamung’s Nongprue subdistrict, Chonburi. Sawang Boriboon rescuers received a call from an unidentified Good Samaritan to help a domestic violence victim and rushed to the scene at 4:30 AM. The victim, Ms. J (name withheld to protect her privacy), 20, was found lying on the ground crying in pain on the front porch of her house. Rescuers administered first aid to the bruises around her body and rushed her to a hospital. Sawang Boriboon rescuers encountered an unidentified Caucasian male foreigner believed to be in his thirties in an intoxicated state at the house. The man was suspected to have beaten the young woman. He was reportedly aggressive as he kept shouting, broke his own property, and proclaimed nonchalantly in English that he was backed up by police, according to rescuers." So how do we get from that account of an out of control man, to your experiences at the hands of an out of control woman? Moral: Women lose control. Men lose control.
