When has history been on the correct side of censorship?
bradiston replied to dhupverg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Step 5 post it all here, or wherever, and entitle it "World wide hoax exposed and I can prove it!". You must have spread the word somewhere, or why were people shunning you? I think many conspiracy theorists have taken cover after realising the BS they were spewing out was just that. BS. -

Old condo buildings in Pattaya. Do you live in one?
bradiston replied to advancebooking's topic in Pattaya
Maybe in London, sure. I bought and lived in a flat in London I bought for £68k and sold 10 years later for £380k. It's exceptional. Ask any Aussie, Kiwi or Safa. Everybody got rich in those days. But here? You've got to be kidding! -
Having said that, I had a Hep B scare years back, massive viral load, no idea when or where infected, showed up on an annual checkup out of the blue. Self medicated with retroviral combinatory drugs. Viral load went to undetected within a week according to Lifecare. Went to Banglamung public hospital to get retested. Straightforward procedure. Results within 24 hours. Same result as Lifecare. Undetected. Minimal cost. YMMV. It's one of those situations where you have to decide on your own course of action. If you're nervous about a result, want a 2nd opinion, don't know what to do, don't understand what the results mean, you must talk to a qualified professional. At a private hospital it shouldn't cost more than maybe 1500 THB for an initial consultation. Might save a lot more in the long run.
-
Yes. If you want a proper medical opinion, aftercare, prognosis etc, you have to either use a clinic, not a blood testing centre, or the OPD of a private hospital. Lifecare don't offer any of the above. They simply hand you the lab test results. If you don't know how to read them, you'll have to talk to somebody who does. I've used Memorial Hospital in the past but have moved to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital now. Sure, it's going to cost probably an extra 1000 or two but it's your health and well being at stake.

4 Hurt As Ambulance Jumps Red Light And Hits Pick-Up Truck
bradiston replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
I disagree. Yes, the pickup t-bones the ambulance because the ambulance driver has done a right almost in front of him. Neither could see the other because of the traffic waiting at the lights. But it is the ambulance who makes the manoeuvre that causes the accident. The pickup is simply driving in a straight line towards, and through, a green light. Yes, as has been noted here, colour of lights is pretty damn meaningless here and people go on whatever colour they choose. The ambulance is going through a red light. But if you're going to manoeuvre left, right or whatever, it's incumbent on you to make sure the way is clear, it's safe, given the driving conditions, and that those in front of you, behind you and beside you, are made aware of your intentions well before execution. I had a head on collision on Chelsea Embankment with a guy who did a right in front of me. It happens very fast. Headlights where there shouldn't be headlights and from 30mph to 0mph in 10m. My cab was almost totalled. £15k to repair. They called it 50/50. My witness didn't want to appear in court although he made a statement at the scene supporting my version. -
This is to where a number of clinics in Pattaya send their samples. But I believe from here they get sent to Bangkok for analysis. YMMV.

Dee money slooooow
bradiston replied to bradiston's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes. Wise won't fetch money from your Thai bank account. Dee will. So you have the option of using Dee to fetch THB and change them into something Wise will accept. Or just skip the Wise part altogether. -
4 Hurt As Ambulance Jumps Red Light And Hits Pick-Up Truck
bradiston replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
I saw this on Thai TV news. Over and over, Thai style. I have to say I think the ambulance driver was probably at fault. He does a right in front of the oncoming pickup, which he couldn't see. The pickup driver really had no chance. Tragic. So many innocent victims. But the other vehicles travelling in the same direction as the pickup had stopped at the lights. Maybe to turn right. Maybe there was a red turning right light. Anyway, I think if you see cars waiting at a traffic lights on a green light... What's your reaction? Always approach traffic lights, in fact ANY intersection here, with caution. You never know what hell is about to break loose. -
My ex wife was from Phrae. Lovely province. I made endless attempts to hop over to Nan while living in her village, but they had some magic which kept pulling me back. At least, that's what it felt like. Years and years later I flew up there and had a glorious time just driving the incredible roads. Can honestly say i miss the old Thailand. Buffalo carts, heat haze, music drifting over the paddies. Too hot to think. Just be.

There's a Soi I call Soi Moscow which runs from Pattaya Food Park up to Thappraya which has a lot of Russian establishments.

If you sit down with a lady boy, at least with some I've met, you'll find a very different story. Many are very well off. They have extremely rich patrons, they have cars and properties. They are sophisticated and erudite. Give a non hetero a bad name and everything else follows. Even the word homosexual is misused. The homo part of it does not refer to the Latin "man", but the Greek, "same". Yes, believe it or not, they actually like, even prefer, their own gender. Heteros just see the "opposite" sex as territory to be colonised. Why is war rape such a potent weapon?

I think you're confusing liabilities and assets. This isn't London. -

Well, that just re-enforces my argument. I've also calculated it's worth buying, but not using your figures. Why have a go at me? I'm just not expecting to see any appreciation on a 30 year old 1m THB studio apartment, after 10 years. However, if you want to make me an offer, I'll take any in the region of 1.5m, payable in 10 years. And your place is only worth what somebody's prepared to pay. 6.5m buys a very decent amount of brand new property. The market's awash. -

You're doing the wrong calculations. Ok, let's say 1m to buy. 10 years later, maybe 500k to sell. So it's cost you 500k. Plus annual fees. 10 years rent @ 12k pm minimum, averaged out on your 6k. 1.44 million over 10 years in rent. You're down 940k. Moral. Don't look to getting all, or even any, of your money back. Living a decent life costs money, most of which you won't see back. But hey, that's life. Enjoy it while you can. -
Yes. I lived in a nice block on a small lane, not really a soi, between soi 4 and 5 in Pratamnak. Many Russian inhabitants. Never had a problem with any of them. One of the ladies in the management office was Russian and the agent was Russian. Nice people! Please don't make your minds up before getting acquainted. Not all Russians support or even like Putin. I meet a number in the spa I frequent. Again, all approachable and happy to chat, language permitting. But there again, I'm an inveterate "where are you from" annoying bxxxer!

I live on the ground floor in a 30 year old small apartment block (just 6 storeys) in Pratamnak. Nice people, no rowdies, and no noise! Sound insulation means I don't even hear the rain falling. And being "2nd hand", shunned by Thais. So economical to buy. I call the architecture "Thai colonial". -
WRLife medical insurance - experiences?
bradiston replied to bradiston's topic in Health and Medicine
I was given the ok by WRLife to stay in Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for treatment for an infected cut on my arm. Probably a 100,000 THB bill. I declined. A daily visit for 3 days and an hour on an antibiotic drip would do me. And places to go, people to see! Plus 15,000 THB for self insure. Seems daft really. My premiums would have gone up by 3%, 300 THB per month. Nothing really. So I can't report on what would have been provided. But they won't cover you in Jomtien Pattaya Hospital.
