Jeremy Who??? Never heard of the guy. So the bridge was sloping what is all the fuss?
Not heard of Jeremy Clarkson! Have you been living under a rock for the last 20 years?

I was under the impression you could drive here on a foreign license for up to 3 months (might have got that length of time wrong).
Therefore they would have to check your passport to find out if you were in the country longer than that.
Best bet as others have said, get a Thai license...
I was too. But last year got stopped in Trat where the Fuzz are a bit more switched on and got nicked for no IDP. Where we live in Isaan they never ask. Also got nicked for no road tax thanks to my good lady forgetting to renew it.

Same in USA, UK and many Western countries. UK is being taken to court by EU because air quality is so bad. Air and drinking water pollution in USA and UK and well over safe limits in may areas. No matter how many shopping malls UK and USA build, the air and water quality is still shocking in places. SO not just a Thai problem, as many Thai bashers like to claim. So what, T.I.T. Lots of talk, never ever change. Third world and always will be. No matter how many shopping malls they build!
Not the same thing. This is caused by deliberate burning. The UK stopped stubble burning over 30 years ago.

Could the use of pesticides explain why apples never seem to deteriorate here? Even with the heat over apples last weeks.

5,500 a tonne is a complete rip off. These prices should be displayed on the internet for all to see very day. That is a criminally low figure
Perhaps the rice miller was kicking a man when he was down

"over 20 staff were perched on the concert stage structures to install lighting equipment"
Might be a clue as to why it happened??
I have seen bands with 20 members.

We don't have a pool to maintain but get everything else on your list for 3600 baht a year. Sounds expensive. But these people are still scumbags. Good luck getting paid.

Police do not bother with them, why? because they would need to detain them, have bike towed to police station, call parents and final result is nothing, they will keep on doing it(that is if you take financials out of it)
If you add financials into it, police would waste half a day if not more and possibly get 500 baht fine out of parents.
And why would the final result be nothing ?
When I get a fine from a policeman, I will have to pay, and I've never seen him spending more than 15 minutes on it, let stand half a day. Why would that be different with a student.
The only thing this is about is face.
My sons uncle almost died 10 years ago because he fell of a motorbike and wasn't wearing a helmet. For 2 months he was a zombie and didn't speak a word. Luckily he recovered. as he was only 9 years old at the time of the accident.
These days that boys mother, my sons grandmother, is taking my son to the school by motorbike, and she doesn't give a if he wear a helmet or not. I bought him a decent helmet and check frequently if he wear it.
When I discover that he didn't wear it one day, as was the case a few weeks ago, I shout the grandmother a skin full that the whole village can hear it.
I don't care that she loses face and hates me for it. It is to me beyond comprehension that her son almost died for not wearing a helmet, and still doesn't realize the importance of it.
In Thailand all these things are down to fete. The motorbike probably hadn't been blessed properly.

Poor elephant.. One thing that really peeves me off in Thailand is half the drivers don't even know how to drive or handle a car. Anyone can jump in a car and start driving, low level skills and road knowledge + no common sense is a big cause of accidents here. Then you throw in some thai whiskey and there's no hope for anyone.
Then add in to this equation lack of driver training, the Thai-Buddhist belief system and the scene is set for disaster. I read somewhere (probably in TV) that 80% of Thai's believe that are above average drivers. Anyone from a Western nation knows this is the complete inverse of reality. Also add in the belief that accidents are fete, that explains why they stand around looking at injured people and not helping or administering first aid. The thought of getting injured on the roads frightens the hell out of me.

At what point did I say I wouldn't sell it cheap? All I want to know is how I value it and where is the best place to sell it. Naturally I want to achieve the best price I can for the vehicle. In the UK we Parkers and Glasses price guide. Is there such a think in Thailand? From the absurd price differences I can see cars being advertised at on various websites it would appear not.
.We bought it as was cheap new car. But know better now. Pity Chevy held in low esteem here as I like the Cruze. But will no doubt end up with bland Toyota with jelly mould styling. I know we take a hit on it but I just need to know what price to pitch it at

I did exactly the same back in November. I'm similar age and married. As soon as I could prove marriage everything changed. They didn't even want to see a bank statement. I also have a child but they weren't concerned with her. Just wanted to see certificate. I did mine at the London consulate. Might be worth checking again. I got multiple entry non O

I want to value and sell a car in the near future. Having never don't this before in Thailand I'd appreciate any advice on offer. Like how do I value it? Where do I advertise it? I live way up in Isaan so I wonder if bringing it down to Bangkok will make it easier to sell? I did take to a local large dealership who offered me what is best described an an insulting price against a new pickup. The car is a Chevrolet Avio 1.4, December 2010 basic model with auto box. 61,000 km in good condition.

I bought what what I thought to be a high quality copy for 2000 thb. I wore it for 2 hours before the band broke. I should have reported it to the tourist police, and they could have organised a man hunt for what proved to be a poor copy of a good copy of the original.......
In fairness every single thing we buy that is made in Thailand breaks within the first 24 hours.

In other countries the coach operator would be responsible for ensuring the driver was licences to drive. This accident would carry charges of corporate manslaughter in UK. Here an envelop full of money makes things go away.
Did they forget to mention that he doesn't have a license to drive such a vehicle? Or is that losing to much face.... Barstard."Police said they'll charge Sompong with reckless driving resulting in death and fleeing the scene of an accident."
500 baht fine and a slap on the hand of they find him .........

Hey, look on the bright side. At least the driver didn't leg it as is the norm in Thailand. Probably as no one was killed.
