  1. Hi All

I'll be moving to Jomtien later this year and need to understand what my options & choices are regarding medical insurance.

I'm currently 54 and am quite healthy, but I am concious that I need at least basic cover.

I am not sure what my choices are regarding levels of cover, excesses, exclusions etc.

As I will be, like everyone else, on a budget I am quite cost concious and don't need palatial private rooms with en suite nurses etc.

Does anyone have any current recommendations and contact details of reputable companies that won't leave me high and dry in my hour of need? any guestimates on cost would also be welcome.

    Many thanks.

  2. Hi All

I had some really good advice about rim/tyre and shocks upgrades on a stock 125i Wave a few weeks ago.

I'm trying to find out where to go to get the upgrades done when I return to Pattaya in a few months. I've had some really good leads from a board member about the rims and tyres and I just have a few queries about the shocks.

I've been told that YSS RE302-330T-19 are recommended for this bike. When I do a google search for the shocks the only pricing info I come up with is a European site that sells them for 301 euros! (link). That's almost half of what I paid for the bike.

Does anyone know where the Pattaya stockists of this or an equivalent shock are located and approximate pricing info?

    Cheers

    Mike

  3. I looked at one of these from close, rear rim must have been 2.75" o 3" and the tire, probably the wider one they could find and fit without grinding parts off, had an horrible squared profile. All the nice roundness you want to make ground contact when leaning was gone, driving that bike must be unpleasant and dangerous.

Compare to the fashion madness of 10 years ago when one out of two bikes had the ridiculous skinny 'rage' rims and tires.

Thais just go for whatever motor fashion is there and accessible to them, without any understanding of what is what and why. Seeing (better educated ?) foreigners to do the same is just ridiculous.

Thanks. As far as I am concerned my proposed upgrades increase the safety of the bike. YSS shocks, decent tyres etc all contribute.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I know where I'm headed now.

  4. I am buying a wave 125i from a mate who bought it for his girlfriend about a year ago - she is now getting his PCX :-)

I am keen on two mods for the bike, upgraded rear shocks and oversized rims & tyres.

Does anyone know the best place to take it in the Pattaya area? I would also appreciate any advice on costs & tyre size / make options.

I'm also thinking about upgrading the front disk, so any advice here would be welcome.

This is going to be my shopping bike & will hopefully be getting a CB500X in the future to do a bit of touring.

    Thanks :-)

Oh, when she chose the bike she went for the non-electric start option. I'm not too fussed, but is a starter a retro fit option?

  5. I doubt my answer is going to be extremely popular around these parts, but I am currently thinking of leaving Thailand, probably to move back to Japan where I previously lived for a few years.

The main reason? I can't stand most of the foreigners in Thailand. Does it mean that I think that ALL foreigners in Thailand should be avoided at all costs? Nope, I know some pretty decent folks here, but let's just say that this country tends to be a magnet for a certain kind of people.

    Off you go then. Bye.

  6. <deleted>. ALL YOU POSTING GET A GRIP. THIS IS A TROLL SCAM. PRICK IS HOPING HE MIGHT CATCH A STUPID FISH. Or at very least having a laugh at how many posts here. Including mine. How dumb are you all. This is embarrassing that some/many think this is a genuine post.

He's a scammer? wow, do I feel stupid now. I was considering fronting him up some bahts 'cos I fancy being rich like he was before.

Never mind, I'm sure my Nigerian cheque will arrive any day now - I've waited for it long enough now.

  7. I used to have a Wheeler Pro MTB which i bought from the bike shop on the Sumhamvit road near Naklua. The shop doesn't stock them anymore, neither does the one on the Soi 10 / threppasit road junction.

Anyone know where I can get one from, or suggest an alternative for a 19-20" MTB, about 13kgs, twin hydraulic disks, shimano etc? I paid about 12.5K baht, so looking to pay similar.

    Thanks :-)

  8. What is so hard to understand?

He is moving to Pattaya in 3 months, he has just spent almost a month here. He has outlined what he has spent and said he would like to reduce his budget a bit.

He is posting his experience, not asking for advice.

  9. Jack, I hope you aren't being as coy with your lazy, greedy website boffins as you are being with us.

Or did you just ask for a website to make you as rich as you were before?

On the other hand, you might just be talking utter nonsense.

    Who knows?

  10. From what I have read in the press the youngsters of scotland are likely to put the kybosh on AS's master plan. They at least, it seems, are not led by a long and bitter lifetime of revelling in their own jingoism.

But, like I said, I am willing to bet the English would kick out the Scots if ever they were given the chance. That's what a lifetime of being blamed for everything does to you.
