Same here. My Thai wife can hardly wait to escape Thailand and join me in Australia. When she arrives it will be goodbye to Thailand for good. If I want a holiday in SE Asia I will go back to Cambodia or try Vietnam, not that I am in much of a hurry.

And do you own that device when you leave Thailand ?
Yes, and if you dare to go somewhere else on holidays than Thailand you'll get charged 10 times more next time you'll return.
On a second thought, they do that anyways, so just ignore my silly comment.

In the next step you'll get a "Minder" allocated, who'll will follow you day and night. ????
Must ask the missus, if she's up for a threesome. ????

My contribution to next year tourism will be 2-3 months to settle things, in other words "pack my bags".
Definitely no friend and family visits.
Unless Thai people get rid of those idiots who believe themselves as leaders of the country, there's no sense in considering returning.

Hope there will soon be the day when Thai people say "Enough is enough" and want the PM to wear a band around his neck.
And I leave it to their choosing where the other end shall be attached.

Meanwhile, I put my flight to September 2021, by then it might become a bit more clearly.

126+150 for October, a bit short of the 1200 saviors to rescue the Thai tourist industry.

May be because 98% of Thais think their country is better than other countries - logic to follow, 98% of all international Tourists have only 1 dream - holidays in the promised land - Thailand.
Sometimes I think my jar of peanut butter in the cupboard has an higher IQ than these official Lurers.
I couldn't have put it better together myself.

It's all the fault of TV-members, whatever hit-and-run incident (and they are common), someone of you was pulling parallels to Red Bull, so I think the authorities had no other choice to do what they did. (Sarcasm off)

Wow, 10 billion baht in 4 days. Measly 150 baht per resident.
Does buying three large Chang beers count as domestic economic activity?
May I get details where you get 3 Chang for 150 bath.????

I wonder how long it will be before the Thais realise why we all went somewhere else?
Many were thinking about it even b4 Covid-BS. The decision to turn the back on Thailand is getting easier day by day.
Actually the dog is what I would miss most.

This "Yes-No-Maybe Yes-Maybe No" nonsense goes on for years now.
It's not the only, but among the reasons, that I cancelled my insurance.

Those figures are just an idiocy. If Thailand is walking away from this mess, it had for sure nothing to do with the alcohol bans or lock downs. Those measures were just taken to look not like total morons (which those government has plenty of) towards the rest of the world.
Literally neighboring China and not taking action until two weeks ago, since then most resulting in a disaster.
So there are only 2 options.
1. Most of the Thais went already through it, without even knowing. Nor does the officials.
2. The big mess is yet to come, than Thai borders are closed at least until 2021.

Imagine we pull this <deleted> in germany, uk or usa... we would be called Nazis within 5 minutes, rightly so.
Braindead asia can do what they want tho, it seems.
If you use the analogy already, I can't resist to stress out, that those so called "lock downs" in a quality like we see right now (doesn't matter where, seems all governments jump on the same train) did occur in 1933 last time.
Can tell you, Germans like me when I mention it. ????

Nahh, won't work. Submarines are not known to be very effective to practice "social distancing" ;-D

I suspect that the Covid-19 cases will all be treatment for flu related pneumonia! We are about to have a flu epidemic in Thailand.
Exactly my thinking, keeps also the numbers down. So face saved. Half of the people in the north will die anyways of pneumonia, given the yearly occurrences of fresh air.

Well there you go. It's a bio-weapon. No bats, no pangolins or snakes, no wet market just a lab. The CCP will not be happy with you. You've let the cat out of the bag.
What sense would a bio-weapon make that for the most part affects old and vulnerable people, when it goes mostly undetected in those with a pretty stable immune system ?
So if you're suspicion is somewhat true, I can only assume, that Covid-19 was designed as an carrier and the lethal part is still in the labs.

Thailand...., the HUB of the most idiotic officials!!!

As long they have something to blame it's all right. Most important is not to loose face.
The bad outlook of Thai economy has of course nothing to do with incompetent leadership which gets worse and worse after every election (rigged/bought or whatever) and/or coups. Wonder if Thai people even can tell the difference,

If your going back to Europe for 6 months you can do what you like for this trip. I would save my border entries for next visit and just do an extension. Heck the cost difference must be minimal.
If I'm back from Europe I will probably have another METV, or at least a SETV, so I don't worry using up my border entries, otherwise I could have done a border run a couple of days ago, as I had one left.
The whole mess started, when my incompetent local consulate couldn't issue an METV as the only person assigned to sign off the visa was on holiday. I applied 2 weeks in advance.
-
Hello and Happy New Year.
My current visa SETV is about to expire in a few days. If nothing has changed I might now have two possibilities.
1. Do the 1900 bath 30 day extension.
2. Do a border run. Choose point of crossing would be Golden Triangle.
I believe neither of the two options look very good on the passport. Costwise the border run is the cheapest option as I'm Visa exempt for Laos.
Further travel plans are leaving for Laos on 22nd this month. Returning 2-3 February, staying less than 30 days, and leave for Europe for 6 months at least.
