Huh where is that? In Germany I always got my METV in 2min. Filled out, stamped and signed by a women, who works there part-time:)

    Close enough, Luxembourg.

It's basically a law firm, who handle affairs for the Belgium embassy.

Hope for the Thai community here that they handle things better, but I doubt it.

I contacted the embassy in Belgium directly, just to let them know about the circumstances, but it won't change a damn thing.

Let's look if they come up with a brilliant idea.....555

I would have not a problem if immigration in Thailand plays with their own rules.

I would need 1-2 visa exempt entries this year, and a SETV from Cambodia and Laos, which are trips planned anyways.

In my situation, I rent from a Thai. I travel frequently, so when i come back to BKK I will provide her with my info. She is then responsible for filing the TM30 on me or she gets the fine, correct?

Now I can see how this will become  burden for her and many other Thai landlords. I can envision Thais not wanting to rent to foreigners just to avoid this problem, but then they will likely get a lower rental rate.

People on this forum are missing the big picture - any change of this policy will have to come from pressure from the Thai people now burdened with it. The Thai Authorities will respond to their complaints a hell of lot faster than to those from foreigners.

Also does anyone have definitive proof that the system actually works - meaning if I skip a TM30 report will they even know. For example, I live in BKK and go to Chiang Mai and don't report when I get back. But then two weeks later I go to Singapore and file a TM30 with my new TM6 card. Will they even catch the gap in reporting? My money is no way!

Well, I skipped a few, even when going to Lao for an afternoon of cheap booze. Never a mention about a skipped TM30, but then, I don't have to do the 90's or extensions or anything else what they could use for pressure.

Funny thing, the local immigration office told a friend that's not necessary to fill the TM30 when just an overnight in the next larger city. That was less than 2 weeks ago.

Except when it's your disabled 75 year old father in law because you refuse to drag him halfway across town to an IO. You realize this has severe implications for how we as foreigners are treated, right? They keep this up and nobody will want to have us stay for a night anywhere. Not worth the risk and hassle!

Well, I pretty much stopped to go anywhere, not even to the next bigger city for a few cold ones.

No wonder, they all complaining there no people around.

Thank you very much.  I have a follow up question:

When applying for METV, requirement states that I show proof of flight out of Thailand.  Can I assume that after 60 days, I can get a 30 day extension, and thus purchase an outward airline ticket that is 90 days from entry?

I called them, with exactly that specific question, and they said it's O.K to have an ticket scheduled within 8 months (reenter before the visa expires & 60 days), didn't ask for the other 30 days extension. I don't really expect them to stick to it.

In the past I was always fine with an ticket just to Phnom Penh or Manila, which I'll probably get anyway, to get a bit less of stressful time in Thailand and more quality time elsewhere.

I'm also planning to reduce my usual 10 months in Thailand to somewhat 7-8.

I would also take a flight to my home country, but most sites I was looking now let you only book 1 year in advance, so that makes it a bit difficult now.

  6. I'm just wondering if there's yet another requirement, or I'm just starting suffering chronic anxiety, because of all those good news coming from the Land of Smiles.

The website of the Belgian consulate states:

"If you are unemployed: a proof of income (document from unemployment benefit, pension or copy of your latest bank statement, etc.)"

Now I'm wondering about those document BS. In the past I just entered retired into the form until some frustrated bureaucrat decided that you can't be retired without a pension or document saying so. Then I switched to unemployed, and that was good enough as I do have more than enough funds than required . BTW, I do not receive any unemployed benefits.

I do rent out my property partly, which brings not a huge amount of money (700 (keep that part low because of taxes>), but when I take all together which appears monthly on my accounts it becomes around 1500, so is it wiser to become now a "property manager" in occupation when renting out your own house?

The last question would be of interest for me too. Have no intent to spend any minute longer in Manila than getting out from the airport.

However do it Subic bay instead of Cebu. Worst case travel taking the bus from Subic to Angeles to find an Agent there.

Ok, forget it. Just saw the other post which says you have to go to Manila in person, so I guess it will be Cambo another time, or even better just cut down on time spent in Thailand anyhow.

Oh really? So it's not possible for a traveller to get a visa in Sri Lanka?

Well this caused problems to my travel plans!

Is it possible to use an agent in the Philippines, to get the visa in Manila from Cebu?
