hate to burst your bubble, but not so ,my wifes family are not hi so ,but are quite well off ,when my wife was working ,she shared all her commision with me ,just said it was for household expenses . oh and her running shoes and handbags ????
Yep. My wife ponied up a bunch of her money to build our house. Again I think it's the women Britmantoo knows or hangs out with. Of course young Uni girls dont have their own money, their parents do. So they always want and expect the foreigner to pay for all. ????

1) I came here to escape women, boy was that a mistake!
2) Me too, but it took me ten years to reach this stage (and most of the ones I shagged were university students looking for help with their fees). My current gf dropped out of CMU after two years.
I understand there are lots of guys around with low testosterone levels.
It must save a lot of money.
Back in the states during my college years it was a free for all. I get it. But as I have always felt, sex gets boring even with different women. It's all the same. I was smart enough to know that no matter how good she was in bed that if that's all she had to offer I'd be bored in a few months. Older and wiser now I prefer a balance. Sexy, smart, educated and the biggest challenge here is maturity.
Glad you enjoyed the ride.

Might as well get one from your home country as they'll behave exactly the same, not much time for you (too busy working), strictly rationed sex, cheat on you with guys at work, they'll expect you to do half the housework, and nag you constantly.
Just pointless.
I prefer the farm girls that'll bang me whenever I feel like it.
Actually, I do not think all men come here "Looking" for women and endless sex with girls. Many I know came here as an expat and then ended up meeting a woman and life just took its course. I know I did not come here for the women. I have worked here for a few different companies and enjoy the balance.
Being that was said, I know some that did come for the women and the cheap sex but when I talk to them now, they are not all that happy and they say that the novelty of that has worn off and they are quite tired of shagging uneducated peasants that have the maturity level of a 15 year old. I have met a few guys for beers and they had their "Girl" with them and I can't for the life of me understand how they can tolerate it. They have zero life skills, cannot hold a basic conversation, spend most of their time looking at their phones probably messaging their next hook up.
But again, we are all different and have much different expectations.

I also think there is the foreigner interpretation that all Thai women are easy and will shack up with any foreigner man, no matter how they look, their age, how they behave etc. In the Bar Girl world that probably holds true but they have low self esteem and a low standard. You step up and want to meet a business professional Thai women they are usually educated, have expectations and looks and age do matter. Its no different then any other country for the most part.

Nonsense. I go to dinner frequently with Thai women colleagues and they not only will drink whiskey, they know the difference between rot gut Thai junk and good stuff. Most tend to enjoy expensive wines however.
If you want to meet a middle to upper class Thai women it is going to take some work, effort and you will have to be a professional, well dressed, clean cut, have a personality. If you walk around in shorts and printed T shirts in BKK you are a short stay tourist in their eyes.

One thing to keep in mind, most of what we purchase here is made in China to Chinese low standards. Thais really have nothing to do with it in general as its all imported junk.
But to another posters comment, Buy Cheap, Get cheap. It is far better to spend a bit more to end up with something that will last. Great example, 3 years ago or so my FIL bought a very low cost weedwhacker. It lasted about 4 months then the cables broke, motor wouldn't start right etc. He took it back 3 or 4 times then finally I tore it apart and tossed in the trash. Cost was about 5,500 bht. I brought over my Craftsman weedwhacker from the states that I had for 10 years in the states prior and now 8 years later here and it still works perfect.

In the end motorcycles are dangerous when mixing with cars and lack of experience. I have a "Big Bike" as they call them here and few Honda Waves. Riding either, one has to pay attention. The "Big Bike" wrecks that seem to make the news on TVF are always about some foreigner and seems to be in or near the Pattaya or Phuket area. IMHO Thailand should not be allowed to rent "Big Bikes" to tourists whether licensed in their home country or not. Riding here is significantly different then riding from say the states (where I am from) thus it takes time to adapt to the organized chaos. Hopping on a big CC bike and think they can behave the same way leads to wrecks and deaths.
Thailand has a challenge in front of it as more people are making money and buying scooters, big bikes and cars now. The infrastructure, road laws and controls are just not in place to improve it.
As for "Big Bikes" and are they worth it. Guess it depends on your POV. If you have disposable income and want to go ride some beautiful roads in Northern Thailand then YES they are worth it. I really enjoy it. Scooters are for local transportation.

FWIIW, I have never taken a witness for my Visa Extension. Just the packet of paperwork and a few pages of pics.

Does not matter, I was not either originally. Just happens to be the case now.

Yep, I have that set up currently. Married extension and a work permit. Been doing it for years.

I spend my time now between Thonglor ( Bangkok ) and Pattaya.
2 totally different places from all points of view.
Small changes can have big results in one's life.
Yep and moving to an area that covers and meet a great portion of ones expectations leads to the individual being in a better state of mind thus figuring out the rest. I have been living here both retired and working. I have lived and currently live where the great majority of my expectations are met. But then again I had a long list of what I wanted and needed before I settled in here. Of course having a wonderful wife makes that even that much easier to adapt.

I just finished up reading the comments and like many others, there is no need to disrespect the OP. He came on the site and posted his position and sentiment. Sure it gets the masses fired up and for the ones like me that have adapted and live here I may not agree with his opinion but as its been said, moving abroad anywhere is not for everyone and why stay where you are not happy. We are all different.
I still stand, and have said this numerous times, Location is everything. Most people that I have seen post that pack up and leave it was all about their living location, arrangements and support (or lack there of) and cannot handle it. They quickly become negative and spend copious amounts of time finding all the bad here versus spending time to look at it with different eyes. I have had numerous expats over my years query me about moving here and I tell them quite simply, "You need to be honest with yourself about your needs and expectations and move to an area that can meet and support them". If they cannot, do not do it. I also tell them, that if you are moving over here because of women, keep in mind that after the rush is over, then what?
Again, I wish the OP best of luck. He is moving back for various reasons. No harm, no foul.

Good Luck to you. I completely understand. I think many arrive here later in life with a certain expectation of how it was when they visited years ago and like all things, they change. We also all know that not all changes are for the better. I am from the US and I have to say that living and working here is significantly better then the US I left behind.
I think in the end though, it takes time getting life dialed in and adapting to moving away from ones home country ( 1 year is not long enough, that is basically a long holiday). I also think many do not really consider where they are about to move to and it has a huge impact on their mental state of mind.

Back to the states no problem, Sicily yes.
I guess what I am saying is my wife would move anywhere with me but it would be discussed.

Outstanding logic.....creepy as it is. Anything to win a baht or two. That said, I've witnessed stranger things in other countries. ????

having to report your presence to immigration everytime you return home from an overnight trip to another town is beyond ludicrous.
Nobody I know does that. Some people seem to draw in problems based on their attitude. In all my years here I have never ever had to do anything you have voiced grievances about, and I have been here on 4 different types of Visa's
Either way, best of luck.

I have 2 style riding attire.
Honda Wave:
- Helmet,
- shirt,
- jeans
- shoes.
My other bigger motos;
- Shoei Fully ventilated Race helmet
- Takachi mesh gloves with carbon fiber inserts at knuckles, palms
- Full mesh gear from https://www.bohnarmor.com/. Kevlar appointments in the critical areas, back pad and very light to wear. Best stuff and works really well for this climate. Its does not replace a full leather set for protection, but does offer one a great compromise.
Regardless I never ever ride anything on 2 wheels without shoes, jeans and helmet minimum. Simply too many things that can go wrong and its not always about another driver.

Most foreigners can't speak or understand Thai so this poll is null & void
And most Thais can't speak English either!!
Hard to understand insults etc when neither can understand each other
I always wondered what would be the point of insulting someone that wouldn't understand what you are saying to them. I mean the entire point of an insult is to get a reaction of some sort. ????
However usually when someone wants to insult another it is after that person has done something to upset them or made them angry.

I have found that usually when any resident or local in any country tells a visitor or a non resident to leave is when that individual is a problem or continual nuisance to some degree. If you integrate and just go about your business there would be no reason to ever be asked to leave.

I wanted to elaborate a bit further from my post # 50. I would think that a "daily routine" would be outside the basic things we do each morning when we wake up or before we go to bed. i.e. Hygiene activities, eating etc.
So after the "morning basics", Its off doing anything which could range from:
- Ride my mountain bike
- Hiking
- Walk to morning market with my wife
- Property clean up and maintenance
- Tree trimming.
- Motorcycle ride.
- Fishing up at the few lakes near me
- Drive to CM to walk around for the day.
- Work in the shop.
- Travel around in the North region for a day just exploring with my wife
That's a short list as its really open and I do many of the above in the same day and others I did not mention but its never structured or rigid.

I have no routine quite frankly. I get up and whatever seems like a good idea, I go off and do. Every day is different. I spend little time indoors, not too much time on computers. I enjoy having a wide variety of varying hobbies.
