The mayor is obviously torn between saving face on the official stance and the saving face with his business friends, obviously no backbone and unable to stand up and be counted as being responsible for the welfare of the city residents.

To you and Patongo, do you consider the UK to be a "civilised", non draconian country? Overstaying there is a criminal offence and leads to deportation and a re-entry ban. Caught working there? Prison sentence.
So as you obviously disagree with the re-entry ban for long term overstayers please tell me your reasoning. Why should people be allowed to break immigration rules and then not face any consequences?Quite true, however if you enter the country legally you can stay for the duration of your visa without having to confirm your location and 90 day check-up.

Anyone who has been to Pattaya recently will know the truth, the few roads that have walkways are in disrepair this includes beach road, many roads do not even have the luxury of walkways or side walks, too many roadworks happening at the same time causing congestion on the roads making it difficult to navigate around the city, the lawlessness with regard to snatch and grab of personal goods and the dreadful way the Thai's drive around without a care in the world regarding the laws, dual pricing at local attractions, the stupid laws governing long term expat residents, the obvious disregard that the government has for all of its residents as can be clearly seen with their attitude to the corona virus and who they let into the country putting tourism above welfare, I can't really put my finger on the problem they are having........LOL

I was having a glimmer of hope when I read some people in power had woken to the fact that Songkran would be the ideal breading ground for the virus coupled together with tourists from all countries in attendance, to the ones that have stood up to be counted I thank you for having the sense to do so to the others and those who comment it can't be done I sincerely hope you wake up before its too late, what ever Pattaya makes from hosting this event it will cost the city twice as much in loss of face and condemnation from every country when this virus explodes.

What about Songkran? apart from the waste of water if undetected but affected people from Europe come to celebrate it would have the potential to cause a massive explosion of the virus within Thailand due to the numbers of people gathering together especially in places like Pattaya, phuket, chiang mai etc.

"THAILAND" I hope you are taking note, it is OK to cancel venues if you put your countries residents first, and not the super rich for a change.........!!!!

The US judicial system is completely different from that in Thailand. America must not interfere and refrain from criticizing the law and judicial process of Thailand,” said the ex-NIA deputy chief.
He really does not get it does he, it's not the laws that are under scrutiny it is plain and simple DEMOCRACY or in this case the lack of it.....!!!!
