Thai Rath - in a story laced with opinion and warnings - said that under 18s are not permitted to drive. Parents can be fined 2,000 baht for letting their children drive.
Unfortunately once again no real deterrents either with the fines or sentences, the police are not strong enough trying to live life with as little conflict as possible so they are not looked down upon by the locals who do not realise that strict laws are needed to improve quality of life. The statement that parents CAN be fined 2,000 baht but normally it is only 500 baht as the Thai's cannot afford more than this figure however they can afford to buy cars, trucks & bikes...???

I find it strange that all four died, odds are at least one would be a strong swimmer if not, why go in a canoe without any buoyancy aides none swimmers are usually afraid of water and would want some form of safety protection one would think.......

This is a totally irresponsible response and the government should be ashamed of themselves for this kind of report, the only reason that DUI is impossible to stop is because the Thai police normally do next to nothing to fix the problem, the Thai's know they will get away with DUI as the police allow this to happen, how come other countries are able to manage this problem more efficiently than Thailand - Not rocket science....LOL

Perfectly correct, the true Thai Songkran which they used to be when I first came to Thailand was absolutely the nicest festival you could possible want to join in, it is far away from the water fights that it has become, if they could turn the clock back to how it used to be I would agree with trying to get this festival registered but in it's current form NO WAY....!!!

the most affected, and that the most crucial period would be January and February as water reserves are low. There was unlikely to be any rain until May, the beginning of the rainy season,
No mention of April when they hold the biggest waste of water event of the year....LOL

I like the "We Hope these savings will be passed down to the customer" bit the big players from walking street & LK Metro will definitely not be happy with this line of thinking......LOL

Thailand will try to ease the pressure on tourism from a surging currency by targeting more first-time visitors because they are bigger spenders.
One wonders if they ever really stop to think, many of the first time visitors won't have the finances to spend copious amounts of money......LOL

The police will continue to suppress reckless activities, raise awareness and seek cooperation from the people to monitor suspicious activities and help each other.
Why not strictly enforce all the year round not just on known dangerous days...!!!!!

And it has been proposed that tour buses will - in the future - no longer be allowed to enter the city once the light railway is built.
Only proposed, I will believe it when, or if it ever happens

I am just starting to recover from this virus and would like to point out that the fever can last 10 - 14 days but the pain can last for weeks, months or even years according to some reports. I have been suffering with joint pain for three weeks and the pain is debilitating to say the least so am hoping my pain will soon diminish enough to enable me to go outside the confines of the house, it really is an understated fever and one to avoid if at all possible.

Children riding motorbikes with no crash helmets are guided out of school by police because children don't have money to pay fines. It boggles the mind that these rigged fairground games are gambling.
I agree with the above and further more the police should be charged with gambling with peoples lives....!!!!
