  1. Getting this Peoples Council, with hand picked members, in place is more imperative as everyday passes. They cannot let this government complete another 19 months in office. Events in the future will dictate Thailands direction for the next 100 years and if Sutheps backers are not in the hot seat they will miss the bus forever and they will never be able to remove Thaksin

  2. The Bangkok election, the Don Muaeng election or the Chiang Mai election? All of them with swings against PTP.

PTP might get the most seats if a general election was held now, but I doubt they would get the seat majority they have now, which would mean that they would have to get the smaller parties to support them to form government like they did in 2007.

I agree the PTP will remain in power whenever the election is held, with a coalition if necessary.

The Democrats were able to form a coalition in 2008 when the newly formed PTP tried to elect a new PM in parliament. It is possible they could do that again.

The coalition was formed in an army base. Referring to the leader of the Chart Pantana (think this is the party name), who joined the coalition, he was made an offer he could not refuse. Nobody knows what the offer was and who he could not refuse...we can only guess

  3. The PM should tell them to go screw themselves The election is in 19 months, start campaigning now if you're that bothered.

That is what Abhisit should have told the red rabble in 2010.

Sent from my GT-N5100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Remember Mark was not elected but Yingluck was. Mark led an army backed coalition formed from the deserters of the red government. All deserters have now been paid back...ask Newin ...well out in the cold

  4. Tragic that a small number of protestors are able to achieve this (if there will be new elections).

On the other hand, if there will be new elections, I think that the Suthep-team only have shot them self in the foot, and they will lose the election (again) big time!. Either way, in short term Thailand has only lost on this embarrassing show led by Suthep.

In the long term though, hopefully this farce can be a reminder that elections are held to be respected!

(Although I´m not counting on it, this is Thailand after all). coffee1.gif

They have had fairly large numbers, as well as protests in places like Khon Kaen. The alliance against the current government is fairly broad across different sectors of society as well.

It seems that a large number of people do not understand how either governments nor elections are supposed to work particularly under the Westminster system of parliamentary democracy.

The assumption that PTP would win again in a big way is very probably not accurate. I would suspect something like the 2007 election results with a smaller gap between parties disputing the elections and a required coalition government where smaller groups are actually listened to. During this entire crisis have you seen or heard of ANY group meeting of the coalition partners currently in place? No. Have you seen or heard of minor coalition partners suggesting alternatives to PTP rule? (If you have paid attention, then yes.)

Does any of the media even pretend that any party in the government coalition mattters other than PTP? No.

Will YL who sits as the chair of the government body regarding Human Trafficking answer any questions about the recently emerged scandal? No

    Rice pledging scheme answers? No.

    Flood control answers? no

As Defense minister what has she done? Nothing.

Did she speak out against the last minute changes in the amnesty bill and denying the opposition even the chance at debating those changes to get the objections into the parliamentary record? No

Did she blame everything on the PTP MP's yes, Is she one of them Yes. Does she then take the out, I am the PM they did it on their own. Yes.

Is the country in more debt now than before? Yes

Is there a written plan for the 2.2 TRILLION baht? No

Could this list go on for pages? Yes.

When the government runs roughshod over the system, denies the courts validity, and works for the benefit of bringing back the PM's brother in a way that absolves him of his conviction, and whitewashes all the other cases against him, and tries to eliminate 2500+ corruption cases, etc etc etc .. it is not acting as a democracy. So why pretend?

I have seen these meetings every night for a week and the highest number I would put around 50 people. Tonight when I drove past there was not a dozen people and all the chairs were empty. The rally is at the fountain on Beung Kaen Nakon and on the other side of the lake there is a red stage which topped out at about 300, admittedly numbers were also low tonight about 40.

There is little or no support for the anti government rally in the North East

  5. Once and for all it is now been officially revealed. The financial muscle behind the Dems is the same group sponsoring the rally.

The people's behind the Democrats are far richer then the Shinawatra clan

    .

Could either of you please inform the forum who specifically these people are?

All we ever hear about are mysterious, nameless, faceless people that guy like you presumably know about, but never reveal.

    .

    .

Most of them can be found on the forbes rich list.... Look for people who make money around food, construction, transport etc. Look at Banks, look at the rice exporters of Thailand etc. Do your research and find how certain families are linked thru business, marriage etc. Look at the biggest companies in Thailand of long standing and their owners. Its a great invitation for the devil inside me to post links but if I can find them so can you

Some have eluded to the Singha heiress, many think thats a nailed on cert. It runs very deep and you will be going to places you should not go but good luck

  6. Surely the democrats can't pay for it so it would be great to know who are the financiers. This number above are very conservative numbers and according to some friends in Bangkok, they put the number to as high as 1.5 billion Baht to bring down the government

A question I have raised several times on here without reply. Who is actually paying to maintain this rally...an army needs feeding. Contributions from the general public does not wash. Maybe instead of financing this rabble they should have paid for some more votes and got into powersmile.png

What an intelligent question! If we had any more insight then you did which cabal of evil businessmen are secretly funding this mob, we would share it with you for sure! Unfortunately, we're all lowly armchair TV posters with no link to the inside of backroom deals evil politicians and billionaires make.

The comment was meant as a retort in response to all the Dem acolytes on here that keep saying Thaksin funded the 2010 protests..without an ounce of proof

  7. The lesser of two evils is the Military COUP.. Anything is better than the Thaksin and red SHIrT running Thailand now!!!

You were obviously not here during the coup years.

I was, and they were a doddle compared to the pre-coup years. People were positively cheering his removal.

Links to people cheering his removal please....footage outside Bangkok if possible

  9. They are back to their 2006 tactic, if you can't win at the ballot box, you frustrate the system. The democratic party is democratic in name only.

Not only do they backstab all the people that voted for them, they now openly support Suthep and his People's council.

I feel sorry for everyone that voted these clowns in to parliament.

Once and for all it is now been officially revealed. The financial muscle behind the Dems is the same group sponsoring the rally. I have just watched that spineless thing that calls himself a leader declaring his intentions in the hope level headed Democrat supporters will head for the streets tomorrow and swell the dwindling numbers.

What amazed me most was the skill of Blue Sky TV to hide the strings of the puppet master controlling Mr Abhisit. If they have resigned they should never be allowed to enter politics again after failing the 11 million that voted for them. The Dems are effectively saying that they dont want to govern in favour of a selected 'Peoples Council". For the 11 million that voted for these worthless people I feel sorry , you deserve better. Dont make the same mistake again, they dont want democracy, the next free election is your chance to resign this political party (term used very loosely) to history and let Thailand move forward.

Glad you know who this is. Does anyone else? I don't.

Apologies replace the words 'puppet master"with 'his Paymaster' frothing at these MP with no care for the people that voted for them

  10. Guess you can't buy peoples hearts, and Thais have big hearts and love their country. A lesson for Taksin, although i am not convinced he learns from his mistakes or is prepared to listen to others.

Yingluck should resign and dissolve the house. No point trying to fool the nation any more with outrageous lies.

Absolutely no point dissolving the house....for what. The Suthep mob does not want elections it can never win. It wants total control and nothing less and the only way to do this is appoint their own people to a Council. Dont give one hoot about Thailand. And Thaksins bad. Now desperation sets in they are showing their morals...absolutely none what so ever

  11. Haha. No I did mean the whole government, which in this discussion IS the only valid thing to do, we are discussing the mandate of the government, in which case the coalition partners do need to count.

It is very easy to argue against your viewpoint there. When, if ever, can you remember an emergency coalition meeting of MP's? Or even any mention of the coalition by the PTP government during this crisis? Have they trotted out their partners (many of whom are on the block with them over the 2.2 trillion baht loan ...?

The coalition is a farce and that is widely accepted by the people.

In fact ... Newin has not said a word in months about anything but football!

I must have missed something ? Since when is Newin even remotely connected to the coalition ?

Newin is a traitor in every sense of the word. He used Thaksins popularity to get his nose in the trough and then sold his sole to the army created Democrat coalition looking for the infamous bus service contract at 2000 baht per bus per day. An A grade w.....

  12. Has anyone had a look at SUTHEPS bank account bet he has more money than most of us falangs look at his corruption record in Phuket a peoples self elected government no wonder they call it AMAZING THAILAND.

That's why the article suggests he is the wrong man at the right time. It takes a crazy man to lead a protest like this and he is well qualified. Who else was prepared to take on the job on behalf of the millions who are disgusted with the Thaksin government.

180,000 at its peak (estimated) . On 'behalf of millions' some creative accounting there. Unless you can provide links to back up your numbers

    PM cancels foreign travels

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has cancelled her official visit to Russia planned for December 89 because of the current political chaos, Government spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi said on Friday.

She has also cancelled a visit to Myanmar to attend the opening ceremony of SEA Games on December 11 and assigned Deputy Prime Minister Niwatthumrong Boonsongpaisan to attend the AseanJapan meeting between December 12-15 in Tokyo on her behalf

Yingluck earlier postponed a trip to Singapore scheduled for November 26-27.

    nationlogo.jpg

    -- The Nation 2013-12-06

She is afraid that if she goes out, she will not be able to get back.

Just a thought. Yingluck has just cancelled more foreign trips in 2 weeks than Abhisit got invited to in 2 and a half years. As we saw the Democrat heavyweights leaders the march and their support for this nut job its not surprising how the world views these anti government protestors and their indisputable links deep in the Democrat party

  14. h90

when you look at the past, almost all the time Thaksin and before Chavalit had the power. The real big ones, Singha, Beer Chang, CP, the car manufacturer always sponsor both sides (ruling parties and opposition), so they always win no matter who wins.

Only Abhisit tried to make a small tax for large land owner and there was a big agreement between all the wealthy that this can't happen.

So I don't see two wealthy groups battle for power. You have the biggest part of the money that don't care. You have the super rich Shinawatra clan and you have a few wealthy but not super rich Democrats. You have a lot middle class that donates to the Democrats and surely you have some wealthy that make some small donations (small by their standards),

But no super rich who want to come into power again.

Dont know where to start with this but here goes....

All wealthy people have a political allegiance... In Thailand that is unquestionably the Democrat party (for the old money and some new) the PTP has mainly "new wealth supporting it (Chang is new money...remember them not being allowed to list on the Thai Stock exchange so they listed in Singapore). Thaksin is officially 23rd on Forbes Thailands rich list. Which leads to the question who are the 22 wealthier than him. CP apart (who flip flops between allegiance - dependant on the government of the day...well he can afford to) they are old money, wealth gained by the Dems having no opposition for 50 years. They want to keep the staus quo and Thaksins popularity seriously threatens this happening.

It is a myth to think that all the middle classes vote and donate to the Dems in this climate. Many 'middle classes now vote PTP (as shown in the election result and the Bangkok Governer election, where the PTP candidate increased its vote by over 400,000)

The Dems have serious wealth backing them that dwarfs Thaksins wallet but sadly they canmt convert this wealth into votes for their chosen party.

I am only a 2 finger typist so please spare me having to type out the backers of the dems and alledgly the backers of this protest. Start with Thailands rich 50, copy and paste the people on their list and you will find their allegiance. Try numbers 3, 4 and 7 on the list for starters.

Armed with this free information I am trusting you will make more knowledgable post in the future

  15. The suspicious part is where it has always to be a foreigner who is a suspect... sad.png

I guess we are going soon to see a wave of xenophobia shoot out against us from the Yellow/Black shirt.

There is clear evidence that Thaksin hired some people in Cambodia in the past...maybe so the information doesn't leak.

If it is a Cambodian than it is a Cambodian...that has nothing to do with xenophobia. And the Yellow shirts have good contact with the opposition in Cambodia, which has a hard life under Hun Sen.

Please post link to Thaksin hiring Cambodian unscrupulous people

  16. Before the rice pledging Thailands rice exporters always manage to sell the rice produced in this country...so why cant the government. Granted money will be lost and nobody knows for sure how much. For this loss it is only right to consider the upside of this pledging. Traditionally poor people farm the rice and the extra cash will enable them to spend more. Spending more creates taxes into the government coffers. Very simplistic but are the losses truly as huge as some keep quoting on here.

The real losers are the private rice exporters who previously made millions of dollars annually in profit

  17. They're desperate...

Prompong Nopparit: He said the former Democrat MP and protesters will have to destroy the Constitution or stage a coup to pave the way for a proposed “people’s council” and interim prime minister.

Surapong Tovichakchaikul: Legal action will be taken against those supporting protesters including the operator of the anti-government BlueSky Channel, Mr Surapong warned, as well as the agency which has dispatched mobile toilets and water trucks to the rally sites.

Samart Kaewmeechai: also voiced concern that the on-going situation would lead to a civil war. He said if Suthep's opponents see that police could not handle protesters, they may take the laws into their own hands, leading to a civil war.

The Shinewatra clan must be safely out of Thailand now with their mountain of suitcases so the pawns can ramp things up......

That reminds me. Did the 2 Shinawatra daughters arrive back in Thailand yet after their week "working" in England? Must have missed the news of their arrival back, or were 95% of the Thai Visa members absolutely correct when they summised the reason they left Thailand wasn't to work overseas, but to escape the escalation of violence that must have been known to be imminent by senior clan members.

What do you and "95%" of TV members think is wrong with a father removing his children from exposure to violence which may be directed at them. Myself and "95%" of fathers on here find that the normal, perfect, parental thing to do.

  18. Urgent meeting for ruling Pheu Thai members today

Let's see what's on the agenda...

    1. How do we buy more votes

    2. How can we create more corruptiion and white lying populist policies

    3. How can we avoid the laws

    4. How can we create new ways to brainwash the poor freeloaders into vote buying

    5. Which one of the banned politicians do we put in charge of key positions

    6. How can we drench our hands and put through the megaprojects with the objective to drain out money for ourselves

    7. How can we punish critical thinking and freedom of expression and itensify RED Anarchy brainwashing propaganda?

This meeting agenda has been copied from the Dems meeting agenda that they have been using for 50 years. No originality in Thailand only copy

  19. So you guys don't want to diffuse the situation.

So this ends in one or two ways. The Army moves in and kill protestors or they lead a coup. Personally, I'm hoping for the latter.

The easiest, most peaceful way of diffusing the situation is for the protestors to pack up and leave government buildings and go home. Then come back and win the next election.

All other options, from dissolving the parliament, killing protestors or staging a military coup will invariably lead to more conflict.

The protestors actually want to do that, but first it needs to get rid of the vote buying, media control and other weird things at the elections so someone who isn't super rich can have an equal chance to get elected.

It may not paint a pretty picture but there is seriously wealthy backers of both sides. Ones got power and the other wants it back

  20. Surapong orders arrest of Blue Sky executives

    12-2-2013-11-36-30-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Surapong Tovichakchaikul, head of the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO), last night ordered the arrest of executives of Blue Sky digital channel, accusing them of supporting anti-Thaksin regime leader Suthep Thuagsuban.

The CAPO head, who is also foreign affairs minister, also threatened to arrest Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) executives for supporting mobile toilets to demonstrators, and all businesses which supported anti-Thaksin demonstrators through giving them food, water, donations, on same accusations.

He said he has advised the police to take action immediately to seek warrant for their arrest from the court.

Surapong said that since opponent leader Suthep has faced treason charge and warrant has been issued for his arrest, so any person and business which provided them any facilities would be tantamount to supporting the criminal and should also be arrested.

He also said that he has advised his legal advisory team to consider what action could be taken against demonstrators who supported the wrongdoers in this regard.

Surapong yesterday appointed four advisory teams to consider how to deal with the ongoing demonstrations, one of which is the legal team.

But Blue Sky Channel, meanwhile, defended its role as a media saying that its broadcast of the anti-Thaksin regime demonstrators was an act of duty performing as a media of which its right was given by the Constitution.

The executives said they were ready to cooperate and explain their roles in the court if action was taken against them.

<deleted> arrest everyone who does slightest thing that this government disapproves off. If anyone wants any more proof that under Taksin Thialand is fast becoming a police state. This is crazy and desperate. ? where can i send money to support the protestors. A large number of normal ordinary common people are totally fed up with this crap. IMO this is turning point and tipping point either Taksin wins or not. I had a few doubts that Suphet had gone to far but no longer. Anything is better than this and only thing they now have os to induce fear. The brainwashed or bought reds and those who sell their liberty for a few bits of silver may or may not put Taksin into power for good. If that is to be so be it.

After 30 years here I've as I've said if Taksin wins now I've had it. That does not mean I'm packing up tomorrow as I've tried to explain Dictators and police states do not happen overnight they take many many years to get established and vast majority never see it coming before its far to late.

The next few months and 1-2 years will IMO give very clear indications as to weather Taksin and his evil clan will in end win or weather Thailand can at last get rid of this cancer. Of course rear guard opposition will continue but again IMO after 30 years here I believe I will be able to see when it is hopeless. At moment its 50/50.

Believe me this is now a war to end between pure evil and something that hopefully is nowhere as bad.

How is it you know so little of Thailands feudal system after 30 years

Freedom of speech is the first causality? No surprise there.

When you use that freedom to cause civil unrest you give up the right to free speech.
