  1. This is probably state of the art at the moment.
  2. Thanks will bookmark this for later
  3. The NSPanels look pretty cool and that approach of having a mini display in each room in the way to go for me. I will be repurposing an old tablet with Fully Kiosk Browser as my first smart display. Being Off-Grid, energy monitoring is a big focus for me, that’s why it’s on my “Home Page” If I am downstairs I see it as useful to be able to switch on the aircon in my Cinema without having to go upstairs. So having other room in tabs on one display is my plan, but small displays with just that room will also happen.
  4. Any Home Assistant users willing to post their dashboards? I am focusing on energy monitoring at the moment. Which I have added into my Living-room page as this is where my display will be mounted. I have downloaded the Power Flow Cards Plus from HACS. It is similar to the official HA Energy Distribution Card, but far easier to manipulate. It has a cool animation showing power movement in your home that speeds up as you use more power. Due to the problems with the HA Growatt inverter integration I will have to splash out for a raspberry Pi from solar assistant to be able to add my full solar data and my EV bi-directional charging.
  5. My airpod Pros died after a year, then my new apple watch started making emergency calls randomly, took me over a month to get it fixed. Was in a Samsung shop looking at the Ultra Watch when they asked us what phones we had and they then quoted us a cost to change to a Samsung galaxy s24 ultra. As they will be replacing the S24 in January they gave us a very good deal.
  6. we had Samsungs when they had curved edges and we both both broke our screens. That's when we switched to apple. I have a Mac Studio for video editing and iPad mini and a Pro. The transition has not been too bad as I'm familiar with Android, but I really do prefer it to my iPhone.
  7. Please show the data, without it these are just assumptions
  8. Just changed from Apple to Samsung, which meant changing Phone + Watch plus the same for the wife! Got a good trade in on the iPhones from Samsung - wonder why 😉
  9. The biggest problem getting accurate information about EVs, Alternative Energy or Climate Change is disinformation primarily funded by the fossil fuel industry. There are vast profits at stake and most people are easily manipulated. How many times have seen these words posted on AN "of course the future of mass transportation is Hydrogen" Hydrogen produced by the fossil fuel industry from "natural gas" = Methane When I see that, I know I am looking at someone who has done no research to check his "facts" before posting. Are EVs perfect? Of course not. Are batteries 100% immune to thermal runaway? No, but some like LFP battery chemistry are much, much safer. I do a lot of fact checking and somethings I see posted stand up, like don't buy a cheap unbranded e-bike and charge it in your bedroom while you sleep.
  10. Back in 2018 I attended the BKK motor show looking to buy an EV. I only saw 2 for sale, the Fomm 1 - a micro car and a 40kWh Nissan Leaf for ฿2m. If I wanted to show off I would have bought the Leaf, but it was clearly overpriced for a 40kWh EV with CHAdeMO charging. Do you really think that the need to show off is the main reason people buy EVs? If this was true then we would all be queuing up to buy the new Ioniq 5N for ฿3.8m but you can see the reaction to the price in this discussion.
  11. Think I'll stick to my BYD Seal Performance even if it is 0.4 seconds slower than the N
  12. There are 2 different connectors. The car is powered by plugging in the wall charger. Once the V2L is connected power can only go one way and that is out of the car into the "grid connection" on my off- grid inverters.
  13. If it was a Dynamic it would have been a 200k drop.
  14. You do realise that a dealer price is more than you will get when you trade it in or sell it privately? An 8+ yr old car sold in Thailand will get you very little ICE or EV. Everyone going on about depreciation of EVs fails to look at ICE car depreciation. EV cars are getting cheaper, that's a good thing in my mind, cheaper to buy new or used, it gets more people into EVs and destroys the barrier to entry "EVs are too expensive"
  15. Original purchase price less residual value = depreciation. Three comparable cars (class D saloons) at a similar price. There is clear evidence that the Accord and Camry both fall to practically zero after 10 years, so how can the cheaper BYD depreciate more?
  16. No vehicle you can buy in Thailand is a good investment. One of my favorite quotes is: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." - Maurice Switzer, 1907
  17. I have said many, many time in my “EVs in Thailand” Discussion that EVs are not for everyone. If you can’t use your phone to pay at a self checkout at Tops then you will find EV apps a challenge. Agreed I have been driving EVs in Thailand for over 4 years. I own 2 EVs and an electric motorbike. My experience with my BYD Seal AWD Performance: I love being able to charge it at home for free from excess solar power I love not having to go to a stinky gas station to fill up I love that it comes with over 6 Tesla powerwalls of backup power for my house which means I don’t need PEA anymore I love the instant torque I love the 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds without spinning my wheels I love that it has perfect 50:50 weight distribution I love that it has an incredible low centre of gravity and goes round corners like it’s on rails I love the drag coefficient of just 0.219 Cd which is better than a Porsche Taycan I love the regenerative breaking and not having to use the brake pedal I love the adaptive suspension I love that the battery pack is a structural component, increasing torsional stiffness and so increasing handling limits I love the Torque vectoring which sends power to which wheel needs it most I love that it only has one gear I love that it has a very long wheel base I love that it is so silent to drive for me and other road users I love that I am not poisoning the pedestrians and motorbike riders around me when I drive or sit at the traffic lights I love that it has a front storage compartment where the engine would be in an ICE car I love being able to switch on the aircon while I’m still in the restaurant I love being able to do “Find My Car” because the car has a 5G chip I love being able to unlock my car with my smart watch I love the 8 year warranty for the car and battery I love 8 year completely free servicing and breakdown recovery I love the way it looks I don’t like the abuse and name calling I get from EV haters I don’t like having to fact check the bs most people post about EVs Will I be changing my mind and buying a Camry or an Accord next time? No!
  18. Clearly the poster I was responding to “Woke EV Madness” “EV Stupidity” had failed to demonstrate that they were informed
  19. As usual the main concern for those who don’t own an EV is depreciation. So let’s consider some evidence. I purchased a D segment Saloon/Sedan in the same class as a Toyota Camry and a Honda Accord. My car is the top of the range BYD Seal AWD Performance so I will compare with the respective top of the range cars. The Camry and Accord cost ฿200,000 more than the Seal I will ignore the fact that the Seal came with ฿230,000 worth of freebies So what is the dealer price for an Accord and a Camry after 10 years? So if a BYD Seal AWD Performance is worth ฿200,000 after 10 years then the depreciation would be the same.
  20. Certainly a lot of stupidity in evidence on this forum from people who don't own EVs and clearly know nothing about them.
  21. Interesting article: Can Nissan Save Itself With LFP Batteries? https://cleantechnica.com/2024/10/07/can-nissan-revive-itself-with-lfp-batteries/ You might also like: Nissan Is In Deep Doo-Doo
  22. The Toyota bZ3C (not to be confused with bZ4X) is a full EV powered by BYD being launched soon.
  23. Still hear journalists talking about the importance of Nickel and Cobalt in EV battery production not understanding that the dominant battery chemistry going forward is LFP which contains neither of these controversial metals. "LFP has taken significant share from NMC since 2018 due to improvements in energy density at sustained lower cost. In China, LFP will become more dominant due to robust demand for mass-market EVs and established supply chains, in addition to the emergence of LFP variants with improved energy density (e.g., M3P and lithium manganese iron phosphate [LFMP])." https://www.bain.com/insights/navigating-the-ev-battery-ecosystem
