  1. This temple is leading the way by example. Of course, if they hadn't installed the lighting system in the first place.......
  2. Only problem with that is, not all people that get married have kids and if they have no kids and the wife passes away first then the husband doesn't get to keep the house, the government will give him 12 months to sell it.
  3. I realise that each country probably has its own rules but when a Dutch friend died we all gathered at his partners house for the funeral only to be told that it wouldn't be going ahead because his partner (as in they weren't legally married) had to get permission from a member of his family in the Netherlands (via the embassy) for the funeral to take place. The local authorities also said that an autopsy was mandatory in the case of a foreigner. Only took them a day or three to sort that out but even then things didn't go as planned. We assembled for a second go, this time at the temple, rather than the house, and we were three quarters of the way through the ceremony when the funeral was halted again as they needed permission from the local amphur before they could cremate him. I well remember the rather surreal scene when, about an hour later, his step-daughter stood next to his coffin at the top of the steps leading to the oven, and announced that the funeral was going ahead whilst waving a piece of paper in the air.
  4. I think the defamation laws here are more than just "certain cultural limitations".
  5. If they manage to get a suspect will they be holding an identity parade?
  6. I recently purchased some Gillette Mach3 blades on line and when I received them I checked over the packet and everything looked ok but after one week of use the strip that indicates whether the blade is still good has disappeared and whilst the blade isn't uncomfortable it definitely isn't giving me a clean shave. Got me wondering just how genuine they are.
  7. Basic insurance coverage If there is an accident, the driver can claim compensation if injured, but will not cover the motorcycle damage. The details are as followings: Death, loss of vital organ, and permanent disability = up to ฿35,000 Medical expenses = up to ฿30,000 https://www.roojai.com/en/motorbike-insurance/ Compulsory car insurance coverage Medical Expenses = up to ฿ 80,000 per person Loss of Vital Organ = ฿ 200,000-500,000 Death and Permanent Disability = ฿ 500,000 per person Daily Compensation (up to 20 days) = ฿ 200 baht https://www.roojai.com/en/car-insurance/compulsory/
  8. I think that higher value is for cars rather than motorcycles.
  9. The government insurance is included when you pay your vehicle road tax and covers medical expenses up to 30k in the case of a motorcycle accident. So no, if you don't have a legally taxed vehicle in Thailand then you won't have it. My response "comes into the discussion" because you yourself mentioned other sources of insurance in the event of a traffic accident.
  10. What are the chances of them actually saying that at the opening of the upcoming APEC meeting?
  11. I have personal health insurance with Pacific Cross which has a 40k baht deductible. I top this up with a Chubb PA policy which includes, amongst other coverage, coverage for accidents up to 100,000 baht. I can confirm that my Chubb policy definitely covers me for broken bones having made two claims, once for a broken thumb and the 2nd time for a broken leg (both of them motorcycle accidents). The Chubb policy costs me just over 5k a year and includes my wife (presumably its calculated on age, I'm in my sixties). Bradiston being quoted 9k for similar coverage seems very excessive. "Plus, some insurers will look at what other policies you have. If you have motor vehicle insurance, a health insurer might say that that is the prime insurance provider if you suffer injuries as a result of an RTA. They might step in if the funds from that policy become exhausted but I'm not in any ways an expert. The whole things a minefield. " When the claim for hospital treatment for the broken leg was submitted to my insurer, nobody asked me if I had motor insurance coverage. I used a combination of the government insurance/Chubb insurance to cover the 40k deductible that I would have otherwise been responsible for, there was some initial confusion on the part of the hospital as to who was covering what but my insurance agent, who speaks reasonable english, dealt with any queries they had.
  12. I didn't find that to be my experience when we sought help for a troubled family member, they just handed out pills. The family member involved said he felt as though the doctor couldn't care less and that he was just taking up his time being there. On our third visit to the hospital, a lady sat down in the waiting area after seeing the same doctor and announced out loud how uncaring and dis-interested the doctor's manner was. Next thing, others around us began voicing the same opinions out loud.
  13. Seems that the "definitive" source isn't quite so sure now. On 11th of October they wrote that she and her husband arrived home after returning from Germany but in an article today they have written that she told police her husband arrived home after returning from Germany on Sunday night.
  14. Try lifting a sandbag that's saturated with water.
  15. Nope, North Wales. "Freezing" as in that was how I felt at the time.
  16. I went back to the UK for a month towards the end of May and for the first two weeks I was freezing and it seemed like I was peeing a couple of times an hour! As soon as the weather got warmer I was back to normal.
  17. I can't make any sense out of that statement. Surely if he couldn't brake in time he would of hit the vehicle that cut in front of him?
  18. TONY kart racing team profile says he was born in Spain.
