If she can talk "normally" now after the crash, then that is a novelty and complete turn around for her. Good on you girl !!
Shame they had to wait a couple of days to test her blood for alcohol, I am sure this had no bearing on the result whatsoever. I will use the Zomy defence on my way back from the pub tonight if needed, I am sure the police will treat me as fairly.

It has been widely reported about the cancellation of 2017 New Year's Eve firework events out of respect for the King, to be replaced by candlelit vigils.
With the huge reliance the tourist economy has on Chinese visitors, has anyone heard what the plans are for Chinese New Year in February ? Lots of people in China are asking me if there will be a normal celebration ( fire crackers, Dragon dances ) or whether these will be cancelled as well.
I am standing by for a deluge of " Good let them stay at home " posts from the non Sino community !!

Christmas has always been my favorite time in Pattaya. If only for the decorations and music. It's my favorite holiday. I also like to see the girls running around with Santa hats on. It's cute.
Made the mistake with my at the time GF dragging me down to Walking Street for count down. Do not go there. It was shoulder to shoulder people and could have easily become a disaster.
The best New Years have been spent at parties at roof top bars centrally located on beach road. Beach road is also a nightmare and taxis get into serious price gouging. Better to stay inside.
Last year had a small party at my room, 21st floor, with a perfect view down to the fire works. It was the best New Year so far.
In case no one told you, it has been reported that New Years Eve fireworks on the beach have been cancelled. Wall to wall people it will not be.

I am glad someone has figured a solution out.
I was under the illusion that a lot of the traffic problems were down to the hundreds of parked tour buses clogging the inside lanes of the main roads, instead of being parked off road, on one of the many empty sites. How stupid of me.

Did she uncancel the Pattaya International Firework Festival and the New Year's Eve Beach Fireworks. I must have missed that.
Wouldn't want thousands coming to Pattaya under false pretenses would we ?

And they wonder why many Thais are terrified of conscription. Another fine example of standards where Thailand should hang its head in shame. This probably outdoes N Korea.

He was having an argument with a teenager and manages to shoot him in the back. More likely to think that a bolshy teenager confronts him, he draws his gun and bolshiness turns to terror. Either way typical OTT reaction.
Don't the police know they can earn more money from drivers with guns than drivers without passports ?

The underpass being dug on Sukhumvit will solve this in a year or two. Hope they got some pumps going in there.

They probably want the boats moving so they are not damaged when the illegally built condo block is demolished. We have only been waiting a year for this.

By the look of it the army delegation doubled the population of Walking Street last night. I hope they were diligent in their investigations, going carefully to every go-go bar to find out who the motorcycle owners could be. tough job !!

If any of this group had bothered to read hotel review sites, they would not have gone within a mile of the place, the reviews are appalling. The "fragrent smell" probably had nothing to do with knock out gas, and everything to do with covering up the smell from the drains.
This has hit the local news boards in Taipei, and continued police indifference will make a lot of Taiwanese reassess their holiday bookings.

Will the Expat Fair have any stalls selling this merchandise ? If so I know several Thai ladies who would like to go shopping there.

I have to take issue with the word "accident".
Groups of young lads nightly race on a sparcely used dual carriageway near us, keeping hundreds of residents awake with the screams of high revving engines. There have been numerous CRASHES due to driver error / intoxication / inexperience, and most disturbingly due to one or two instances of locals taking to vigilante actions.
Many of the crashed are self inflicted and I have no sympathy, just like the police. When we phoned to complain again last night the boys in green said they had had many calls and would we please go away, they knew about it. Job done then by Thailand's finest.
Confiscate the bikes and fine the parents if underage, or lock the adults up until they pay a realistic fine, not a pittance by bank transfer.

I thought most Zara were drive through these days ?

When will these people learn ?
Of course any foreigner walking down the road minding his or her own business is a provocation too far. Who do they think they are ?
Of course the upstanding nationals had to defend their honor. Why did Stefan not come tooled up, has he no respect ?
Commiserations to both gentlemen for this, I know I am dreaming when I say I hope justice prevails.

Tony Fernandez only comes out of his anonymity and hiding to put out fires...
other than that, you try to get a hold of him to put any concerns or graveness,
the man is a ghost and unreachable.....
On what basis do you make that accusation. I sent him a mail once and got a very speedy reply when he passed it on to the appropiate person for action.
A COE does not have the luxury of more hours in his/her day. If they are good they have an empowered team who handle things.
From what I have read about this chain of events he and his team have done all they could to make things right. Dealing with people like this woman is a no win situation.

“A lot of divers and swimmers have been hit by boat propellers in this area between Phang Nga and Phuket. Officials have attempted to solve the issue, but they have not yet found a way of preventing it,” he added.
There is an international blue and white crossed flag denoting "diver down". Any dive boats should fly these prominently and any divers should have their own banana buoys, which many do. Any boat coming within 100m should then be reported and fined. Simples

Nice one !
While Khun Srisuwan has his pen out he better start making a complaint about Magnolia Waterfront which will overtake MahaNakhon as the tallest building in 2 years.
MW was designed by that well known Thai company Norman Foster Associates, based in the Bangkok suburb of London. Are they going to tear that one down as well ? Another example of Thai joined up thinking.

That is great news, nice to see the hassle being taken out of breaking the law. The next step should be a direct debit system for regular customers, and a gold card discount system for top performers such as Rayong minibus drivers. Think of the money it would save !

Mother should have been suspicious that the salary was exceedingly generous. But she has redeemed herself by bringing it into the public domain. If this happened more often Police Captain and his ilk would find it hard to sweep under the carpet in future. It would be nice to hear his side of things, but I suspect he will be going to a 6 month training seminar in Chang Rai later today, and therefore regrettably unavailable for comment.

A white Honda Civic ? Can't be more than a few thousand for rent in Thailand, apprehension seems inevitable.

We live in Thailand, how can anyone be surprised at these events. Congrats to the colonel for even remembering the event.

Let's see the follow up. If the hotel registration system were to work their whereabouts should be known already. If they have left the country police should put out a statement about where they went.
Anyone holding their breath ?

No wonder she attacked him she was severely provoked. The sight of a policeman arresting someone for multiple crimes, not accepting a kick back, then defending himself in a very restrained way, must be very unnerving to many Thais.
He should be removed from his traffic duties immediately and punished.
Promotion, a senior position as a training officer for police cadets, and hefty pay increase would be appropriate.
Bail denied! Stepfather apologizes to everyone except five year old boy he stamped on

His sister should be ashamed of herself for agreeing to be part of his charade. His parents should come out and disown the spineless creep.
In a civilised country he would get a heavy fine, and/or imprisonment. Hopefully justice can be meted out properly in this case ( not a THB 2000 fine and 3 wais ) and he can be kept away from mother and son in the future ( I know but I like to dream !! ).
Good luck to his next girlfriend when he has his next stress session.
