"He said that in his experience King Cobras cause no problems for people".
Why did they not print his whole sentence, " no problems for people living in condos above the 20th floor in the centre of Bangkok".
-
One small step, but in the right direction...

He claims he works for a member of parliament but no one is really buying his incoherent ramblings.
Shows the lack of mentality. Should not matter who you are even if it was Prayut himself he should be locked up. But, hey, this IS Thailand.

Shame they did not name the bar she works in, it would be useful to boycott the place if they employ dubious characters like this.

Can anyone list the advantages of paying THB 2m to join this "club" ? Just come here, get a retirement visa and enjoy spending the fortune you save.
-
And what about the two lorries that I just passed with about 50 Myanmar workers all standing, swaying from side to side,on their way to build more condos we don't need ?

In the UK in 2014 motorists were fined over THB 520m from fines imposed from going past speed cameras. This covered the cost of installation and operation of over 2300 cameras.
It's not rocket science, cameras cut speeding, staying within limits cuts accidents. Government again not willing to do the obvious, it would not cost them anything and would cut the carnage.

Not sure of the justification in buying these. You can clearly see ( and smell ) the sewage and rubbish in the sea near us without the need to go looking underneath the waves.

Until his trial he is innocent until proved guilty under the law.
Being a HiSo in Thailand that means life sentence ( of innocence ). Shame he did not hire a Ferrari to go home from Ramsey's restaurant, the Met would not have been quite as understanding.

The only question here is why he departed from his head? Also find it very peculiar that they only filed an arrest warrant for his head?
Story continues....is his head still in the country or did it leave with the rest of the body? Stay tuned for our next episode of this great mystery! If he was last seen near Mapruchan lake his body parts could be residing in many different provinces.

With no auditing or proper recording of donations and income, one wonders how many more rotten apples are out there in other temples.

I got a new passport book by application. The old book was returned with the corner cut off to invalidate it, with my existing visas.
I have stapled both together. When I leave the country they check the visa in the old book and stamp the exit in the new one. Had to get a police report the other day. They used the new book for my details but with the visa from the old attached book.
works fine for me.

A step forwards, but the main issue is being ignored.
While the punishment for most crimes here is totally pathetic, people will still carry knives and guns, happily cause road rage accidents, and engage in gang related crimes.
Install FUNCTIONAL CCTV's around towns, give courts the powers to hand out meaningful custody, fines and confiscation and attitudes will change.
If penalties for "general crime' were treated the way that the authorities pursue lese majeste, crime would be halved within weeks.
Yes I am a dreamer, not in my lifetime....

There is nothing to worry about," he added. "Pattaya is a quality place that is of a world standard".
Was he referring to :-
1. The pavements which, in the unlikely event they exist on most sois, are blocked or have gaping potholes
2. The smooth running of the traffic, particularly weekends
3. The extensive pedestrian crossings of busy roads, was it 3 or 4 in the whole town
4. The crystal clear waters of the bay
5. The mindset of the police, warning people not to go out at night wearing jewelry
Can't be bothered to type 6 - 43
Would be interesting to hear which world standard he is referring to.

Nice to see te voices of doom alive, well and in such fine voice.
Just met 4 people on the bus to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi going for a two centre holiday, one week there then going to Hua Hin. They booked their trip because of a recommendation from some friends who did same trip two weeks ago.
Apologies for my optimism.

So glad that is out of the way and we have a date set.
Now can we can down to the serious business of opening a book on when the next postponement will be announced ?
March 10 / 1, April 8 / 1..........

I would have classified the comments of the fortune teller as being unhelpful and damaging, therefore warranting arrest and fines.
But then I am not Thai or thinking like one.

Around the world holiday destinations are swamped with CCTV's that not only function but can be used to recognise people. With tourist snatch and grab becoming a popular past-time here the authorities would be wise to invest before the reputation is tarnished further.

Only 101st ? Bet someone had to pay some big money to see we finished that high !!

How on earth will this work ? Presumably the 120kg is the monthly amount, so how can they possibly keep a check on this ? They cannot weigh and input each "household" collection times would be totally unworkable.
I can see fly-tipping soaring and the environment suffering, not benefitting.

The person with their finger on the button was a bit slow today. BBC World News started a feature about " the appalling death rate on Thailand's roads making them the most dangerous in the world" before they blanked the screens.
Was anyone watching on a VPN who could tell me what the gist of the story was ?

Over the last year a road near us has become a race track for young motorbike riders. It is dead straight for 1.5 km until it finishes by becoming a farm track. It is accessed at a crossroads with traffic lights, so it is the perfect venue for the drag racing that goes on between 10pm and 4am.
The area is well populated and all of us get treated to the roar of bikes as the rev away when the lights change.
We and dozens of others phone the police nightly. Often they attend but nothing happens because of two factors. Either the riders are under 16, so the police claim they are powerless to stop them and can only talk to them, or they have no number plates and give false details. Either way the police arrive and depart empty handed. Recently one local appeared to take matters into his own hands when his pickup mysteriously swerved in front of a bike doing over 100km, separating it from the rider. It is only a matter of time before a fatality occurs.
Why does the government have no interest in changing this ? Once a large fatality occurs, as it did in Bang Na recently, they jump for the microphones, but there is no appetite to do anything about road racing throughout the country.
So much could be stopped in a instant.
- Any minor found on a bike would have it confiscated, and the parents fined
- Anyone driving without number plates would have the vehicle confiscated
- Make road racing illegal. The authorities act on lese majeste in a flash, I am sure even the could draft legislation that could have teeth. Anyone with two convictions would lose their licence for 5 years.
The number of road deaths would be cut and thousands would enjoy a good night's sleep.

How do you "sneak" off to Paris. Presumably through Suvarnabhumi ? It is therefore too much to expect the police and immigration to work together so that when he scans his passport, he is detained. That would involve arresting someone clearly in a position of power.
Wish the rest of us had the ability to walk on water.
Phuket hospital hits back over UK claims they put money first after tourist's motorbike accident

He paid his policy and the insurance company entered into an agreement to cover him. He then had an accident where he had to claim. After that accident the insurance company should have told him that any further claims would be refused. Whether they considered him reckless or not ( he was not driving just a passenger so this is higly debatable ) they still had a contract with him and as such should pay the claim.
