Some people just can't wrap their heads around the correlation between how they voted, and what they got. California (and Dem) policies work great for zillionaires and the urban poor who depend on the freebees. Not so much for the middle class. And even the urban poor are looking at the poop maps and crime and getting fed up.

“Coconut Girls” Brawl Outside Pattaya Police Station

That's tourism gold. They should install seating and charge admission. They already have the beach lounges. Just move them a few meters after dark. -
Trump’s big fat abject lie …and why he keeps telling it.
impulse replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Off the beaten track
It'll be years before we know. That's why they call them "long term side effects". But if you believe some of the early studies coming out that indicate one death per 800 shots, and extrapolate that over the billions of shots, it may be millions. I'm looking forward to RFK Jr, Musk and his AI skills, and DOGE to look at all the data, with no holds barred.- 200 replies

Living the Thai life: Kingdom rolls out red carpet for big spenders
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Agreed. All they'd have to do to prove that is to announce a Taylor Swift concert and see how quickly the local airports run out of private jet parking reservations. I don't see that as mutually exclusive. That bell can't be unrung in some places, but it doesn't have to be that way in future development. At some level of spending the wear and tear on the infrastructure (and the environment) exceeds the benefits of the revenue. There are many examples of tourist venues that started out as meccas for backpackers that upgraded over time. -

Not even close. Not by revenue, not by body count, and certainly not by the quality of life of the people. -
Living the Thai life: Kingdom rolls out red carpet for big spenders

I love Thailand, warts and all. But when I think about inviting my well healed family to join me on one of my monthly visits, I wonder how they'd feel about the homeless people we'd step over, the dildo merchants we'd pass, and the "aromas" we'd experience in between all the high end opportunities to spend their sweaty tourist money. Thailand needs to develop a pristine area (there are lots of them, but poor access) and keep the standards, instead of pandering to the lowest end of the budget spectrum. But that's never going to happen if they aspire to $60K tourists spending 6,000-7,000 baht a day. They need something more along the lines of Fantasy Island where a plane, helicopter, or yacht is the only way in and out... To keep the likes of yours truly out. -
The problem with "moving on" is that they'll just do it again if there are no consequences this time. Besides, half of my face is still numb, my balance is still shot and I still have horrible fatigue, almost 4 years after my symptoms started, the day after my 2nd Pfizer. I'm not going to shoot anyone, but I sure would like someone held to account if the data was known beforehand, and withheld. So I want the investigations to continue.

The letters OHV on one photo are a giveaway that it's a 4 stroke engine. 2 stroke engines don't have overhead valves. The other "engine" in the photos is a piston type pump, not an engine. It may take the (ATF) Auto Transmission Fluid in the red bottle. Or it may not. I'm not familiar with that type of pump, and what type of oil it requires. Don't add the ATF to the engine, and don't add anything to the fuel, even if you had 2 stroke oil.

Here's what happens when the world's richest man buys the presidency
impulse replied to simple1's topic in Political Soapbox
They can't take it to court as long as he's the sitting president and the Senate won't vote to impeach. But if you read the Hur Report and the House Report on the Biden Crime Family, you'll see evidence out the wazoo. I think they'll let the harmless, senile old guy off when he's out of office. But the new DOJ may pleasantly surprise me and make an example of him, that if the Dems can do it, so can the Repubs. -
Since I was informed in response to a previous post I made in this forum section that "unapproved sources" were tolerated (I'm paraphrasing), here's from one of the wingnut conspiracy sites: Speaking in a now-viral TikTok video, Ferguson shared his professional insights into the growing phenomenon, speculating that these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are part of a classified operation aimed at recovering a nuclear warhead that allegedly disappeared in Europe and could be en route to the United States. The article goes on to explain the nukes allegedly missing from Ukraine when they denuclearized. CEO of Government-Backed Drone Company Drops Shocking Insight on New Jersey Crisis Which Leaves Joe Rogan Alarmed – Vigilant News Network I haven't a clue, but that's the most credible theory I've seen, given all the locations in the US and UK where they're flying. And you don't need daylight to work a scintillation detector to detect radiation. Plus, if they let that cat out of the bag, there would be a panic. Another theory is similar, but in that one they'd be looking for an Iranian dirty bomb...

Not in the OP's price range (by a long shot at 6,600 for just the drone and 11,700 baht for the drone/controller/extra battery combo), but has anyone tried a DJI NEO yet? Watched a YouTube review and the thing looks like what I've been seeking... Small, reasonably priced, 4K video and absolutely amazing DJI tech. But I'd like to hear from a noob that isn't being paid. The influencers can make them look easy, even when there's a 40 hour learning curve. That pricing is from Lazada... Several different vendors, same price.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if Bluesky becomes huge. Because lefties can't stand a venue that allows divergent points of view. So they'd naturally gravitate toward Bluesky. Because echo chambers are comfortable for some.

That's a little more relaxed in this section. Thanks for the heads up, but I'd prefer to allow anyone interested to do their own Googling. Since it's blocked here where I'm staying, they may find more than I have found using Bing. To be clear, I'm a big fan of the wingnut conspiracy genre, but I haven't formed an opinion on Ferguson's "educated guess". But it's the most plausible one that I've found so far.

Thai-British Beauty Queen Duped Out of 4M Baht, Suspect Arrested
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
And, being Thailand, it wouldn't surprise me if the actors were actually police, moonlighting. It's not as if they've never been implicated in extortion schemes. -
Google John Ferguson of Saxon Aerospace. So far, I'm only finding it on "unapproved sources". He acknowledges that it's just an educated guess on his part... If he's right, the gub'ment is flying them at night and not acknowledging their actions, to avoid panicking the public.

ABC & G.Stephanopoulis made to pay & apology to Trump
impulse replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
If it was my loved one, we would have reported it on the day, to the store and to the police. Not waited for 30+ years, during a contested election, forget when it even happened, and have absolutely no credible evidence. -
ABC & G.Stephanopoulis made to pay & apology to Trump

She may have been more convincing if she remembered what year it happened, provided any corroborating witnesses, reported it to the store or the popo, sued the store, been younger than 50+ years old when it allegedly happened, and not out selling books (and during an election cycle, no less). -
The alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare's CEO Brian Thompson was arrested at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee contacted police, and now all three fast-food restaurants in town are inundated with 1-star reviews. No comment on my part, except this is crazy... Or, more accurately, another symptom of crazy. McDonald's Employee Who Alerted Authorities About Alleged Brian Thompson Assassin Could Get More Than a Year's Salary If Rewarded For The Tip

ABC & G.Stephanopoulis made to pay & apology to Trump
impulse replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
You did catch the irony that $2 million was for the assault and the other $80+ million was for the mean words, right? Meaning that the judge and jury decided that the mean words were 40x as bad as being assaulted. It's a mystery to me why the SJW feminists didn't call that out. Well, not a mystery, really. -
My bet would be the US gub'ment testing public response to an as-yet classified drone program. They want to see how adversaries' publics would respond if they were suddenly inundated with drones flying in formation at night. Not to mention, how the US public would respond, and whether any good ole' boys can shoot them down.
