  1. yes, the reduction in drug and booze sales would sure hurt the local economy.

Does anyone in their right mind actually think this article is serious? Ban the full moon parties hehee what a joke. Thailand anf kho tao and kho pangyang are the hottest ticket for tourist travelling only because the full moon parties. To think they would lose even 1 night of tourist dollars being spent is a joke.
Policing will not protect anyone. Jeez! My friend was raped by 2 police in chumphon because was drunk and trusted them to drive her home.
I can't wait to tomorrow to call my friend who is there to see if this is serious

  2. Another example of NGO workers in Cabodia not being chosen by qualifications and skills, but by who they play golf with and who their friends are. Never seen such dodgy and disturbing expats as Cambodia NGO staff, yet qualified people cant get an interview because they are not part of the "NGO good-ol-boy" club. Hopefully they will start cleaning up this system and send the overpaid NGO heads packing.

Here's a thought. Police stopping everyone not wearing helmet or with broken lights. Every time, instead of ignoring them. No need for campaigns.

Wow, imagine a Thai motorbike NOT riding the wrong way down the road at night with no headlight or taillight and actually wearing a helmet......the mind boggles.

  4. I know there are big bike rentals in Phuket. I would often see the bikes and their tourist riders lying in intersections or in ditches as I drove by. "Hey. lets go to Thailand, get hammered and drive superbikes way to fast. You can do anything in Thailand that you want and were tourists so were immortal anyway..." Thats why I dont respond to the frequent R.I.P tourist posts...

Why not simply raise taxes on the fags? Tripling the price should encourage people to smoke less.

1st) They're less than 30 baht a pack in Cambodia. How difficult do you think it would be for someone to cross the border with them illegally and sell them here in Thailand as another TV member posted.

2nd) There's the liberty question. Why should the government interfere in any individual person's business? If someone wants to smoke why shouldn't they be allowed to smoke? Why should someone be taxed out of the right and/or ability to smoke? What if they taxed alcohol so high nobody could afford it? what then? salt? soda? refined sugar? red meat? To give a government the ability to tax something so high that nobody can afford it is dangerous and slippery slope.

The reason you should be taxed is to cover the cost of medical care for smoking related diseases and illnesses. Why should non smokers pay for the health care of smokers when everyone knows that smoking is dangerous to your health.

Same can be said for alcohol. I don;t drink so a 500% tax on booze is fine for me, since alcohol causes more death and expenses in Thailand than smoking does.
