  1. Imo, Trump is the most despicable politician ever and that’s saying a lot when you consider the likes of Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley etc. I hope he (Trump) wins the next election.
  2. A well known China hawk, Gordon Chang has been predicting the collapse of the Chinese economy since 2012 I believe. Sadly, I doubt he (or any of us on this forum) will live to see it happen in our lifetime. I recently read a report TH stated that over 50%? of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck? If so. I doubt they will be able to help the Thai tourism industry much.
  3. Yes, it’s worrying that the Chinese economy is only projected to grow at under 5% this year, Russia at 2% while Germany is racing ahead with contraction the last 2 quarters, UK at 0% and the US at slightly above 1%. I believe that it was also Germany that was celebrating a reduction in inflation of 0.2% (7.3% down to 7.1%) One poster commented that Thailand should be focusing on western countries instead. Thailand is lucky he’s not on their advisory board.
  4. I don’t know if the government’s figures can be achieved but tourist arrivals are not linear. There are high, low and shoulder seasons for every country from every country. Depends on school holidays, seasons etc.
  5. Existing to me would mean a country with functioning infrastructure (roads, buildings), people going about their normal business conducting trade and commerce, children going to school etc. As to sovereign free countries making their own decisions, very few left in the world. Germany was not free to be allowed to have a gas pipeline with Russia, the Netherlands was not free to sell its high tech machines to whoever they want, Japan and Korea were not free to sell their chips as they like, the UK was not free to install its choice of vendor for its 5G network… I could go on but I doubt you will accept these points…
  6. If I were Thai, which I’m not, I would not want any foreign military presence here, US or otherwise. There is no need as I don’t believe China or India or Russia would ever want to invade and occupy Thailand. I would argue that any US military presence actually increases the risks for Thailand. I hope the Thais are intelligent enough to see that. Tough though, when leaders are corrupt and bought.
  7. Ukraine would still be existing today if it had stayed neutral. Hopefully other currently neutral countries would learn from this disastrous mistake.
  8. What is it that you hate about EVs? Is it the smooth and instant torque? Or the lack of engine noise that allows you to hear the music playing? Or the cheap running and maintenance costs? Or not having to ever change engine oil? Or easy overtaking without having to drop down gears? Or the lack of exhaust fumes being emitted from the non existent tailpipe?.
  9. It's not MY review, it was written by a reputable media organisation. So even more stops to recharge Of course it’s not your review. I never said it was. Given your limited knowledge of EVs, I doubt any car dealer would lend you an EV to review. Maybe you were not in the situation, where you had to re-accelerate form an ALMOST stand still? Torque in EVs are instantaneous. Don’t know what the reviewer was trying to say For short distances I buy a bicycle. When I buy a car it's because I have to travel further than the 7/11 on the corner of my street. That’s you. Not everyone is the same You say that the review is inaccurate, and then you make up things like above yourself. Maybe you should take some driving lessons. It’s obvious you’ve never driven in CM Old Town. And I’m sure I’m almost certainly a better driver than you.
  10. If you are doing 120 km per day, I strongly recommend looking into getting a TOU meter for off peak overnight charging. You will need to be charging every night. Solar will not suit your purpose so well.
  11. Your review of the review is inaccurate and misleading. Either that or you don’t know the basic facts of EVs. It takes 8 hours to fully charge from 0-100% from a wallbox. This is done at home while you sleep. No need to spend 8 minutes at a petrol station. If charging en-route, it takes 30 mins to charge from 30-80% at a DC fast charger. I don’t understand what the author is trying to say about the motor cutting off the power (it’s an electric motor; it doesn’t “stall” like you tried to imply). In the first instance, the car doesn’t have a start/stop switch. That means the motor is “permanently on” whenever it detects the key. Thus the moment you depress the accelerator pedal, power is delivered to the drivetrain. I test drove the Neta. I wasn’t impressed but didn’t experience the issue that the author did. As has been said many times and bears repeating, EVs are not ideal for long distance journeys. The Neta is a city car. In CM, you will be lucky to be able to drive above 80 kmh. However, much as I don’t really like the Neta, I will pick it over your diesel belching truck any day of the week when driving in CM old town. For starters, with a turning circle of about 5 metres, I won’t have to do any 3-point turns when making a left turn in some of CM’s city streets. So in a jaunt around CM, it could well take you over 2 hours compared to about 30 mins in a Neta ????
  12. Yes. The boss is obviously a plonker for giving an EV to an employee who is unable to charge at home. The employee is also a plonker for running the battery down to a level that he had to call for roadside assistance. In my 10 years or so living in the UK, I came across a lot of plonkers, although not as many as in Thailand.
  13. The way I see it, in Thailand, running an EV will always be cheaper than ICE (servicing and maintenance charges aside). Lots of poor people can’t afford cars or the costs of operating a car but must continuously consume electricity. Thus the government is compelled to provide electricity at an affordable cost. In fact, I’m thankful for the anti-EVers for their continued resistance to EVs as this reduces consumption of electricity in Thailand which will help to keep prices low for the rest of us.
  14. Naturally, if it costs me more to run an EV than an ICE, I would not go for an EV. That is however not the case where I live, in Thailand, in a landed property with a car porch and solar on my roof. It was also much cheaper to run an EV in the UK until Richie Sanook started running the UK into the ground with electricity rates spiralling out of control. Even then, those in the UK who can charge at home are still saving money over their ICE compatriots.
  15. Sounds like his Boss is dimmer than him, giving an EV to an employee who doesn’t have the ability to charge at home.
  16. Take your pick of EV Station Pluz (PTT), PEA Volta (Bangchak) or Elexa (PT) It’s only a relatively short trip, under 600 km. Realistically, only one charging stop is required. An hour or so.
  17. Absolutely correct. Plonkers should drive ICEs. Let the smarter ones like us drive EVs and laugh all way to the bank and our destination. 1 baht per km, less if TOU, less is solar, free for me when I charge at my local free CS ????
  18. Sounds like your friend in the UK is a right plonker. Does he not know how to do research or possess any common sense?
  19. Don’t know where you live (Sisaket?) but here in CM, I don’t believe that majority of people (who would be car owners) live in apartments. As has been mentioned numerous times on other threads, if you can’t charge at home, EVs are not for you. And if you are inclined to change your car frequently, then EVs could be a financial gamble.
  20. Very well said. I have no comment on your first point as the Audi E-Tron is not the first car that comes to mind for 99% of buyers when talking about EVs. On the second point, I believe we have had a brief discussion recently that EVs are not suitable for some. Inability to charge at home and/or frequent long distance driving means that EVs are not a good choice . But for many people, this isn’t a problem.
  21. Wow. You win the prize for the most misleading and inaccurate post of the year. First off, the video is about a town in the UK, not Oz. Secondly and more importantly, the charging stations were intentionally turned off. Your post implies that they were broken which they were not.
  22. What I find stranger is that people who don’t own an EV or hasn’t even driven one can assert authoritatively about the little (or nothing) they know about the driving and ownership experience of EVs. A common example is how they always focus erroneously on the number of charging stations available. An EV owner knows that this is a non-issue.
  23. Yes, electric bills tend to fluctuate with consumption. Strange that…
  24. All your “points” are extracted from western MSM (propaganda), most of which has been proven to be untrue. Strange that the “genocide” of the Uyghurs is resulting in a population growth of these same people. Ever been to China? Know any mainland Chinese?
  25. If this comes to fruition, it will be another nail in the coffin for the legacy car makers.
