  1. Driving any sort of pickup in CM city is a PITA.
  2. So? It’s less than 150 kms. Charge at your destination if you need to. For most modern EVs, you can easily get a range of over 350 kms. Charge while sleeping. More convenient than pulling into a petrol station (not to mention a lot cheaper).
  3. Be careful using it with an extension cord, particularly at the higher amperage’s. It can get rather hot and pose a fire hazard. I specifically bought a 16A extension cord to minimise the risks. I also have a 16A smart plug (with power monitoring )in order to remotely turn off the charger when the sun goes down, if I’m not at home (I charge with solar when I can). You could similarly use this feature to charge when TOU rates apply (when PEA installs the meter lol).
  4. What an amazingly thoughtful reply.
  5. Too challenging for some though, apparently.
  6. Seems like you’re rather late to the party. EVs are not suitable for everyone and every instance. Sort of like using a hockey stick won’t work well on a golf course and using a five iron in a hockey match is not recommended either.
  7. I didn’t realise that ICEVs don’t catch fire. Thanks for nugget of information.
  8. Just because you don’t know how to use an app to locate charging stations or how to plug an EVSE into a wall socket doesn’t mean that others aren’t capable of doing it. Reason you didn’t see a CS is probably because you weren’t looking for one. Humans are strange in that respect.
  9. Fair enough, you’re not used to modern technology and more comfortable with what you know. Just so you know however, newer cars are generally safer and more economical than older cars. Safety features are to benefit newer less experienced drivers and in most cases, can be turned off if you don’t need them. Changing driving modes on the go is a matter of muscle memory, much like shifting gears. Getting a flat tyre is an extremely rare occurrence and 99.9% of the time here in Thailand, a repair shop is usually close by. Nowadays, we also have something known as a tyre puncture repair kit, easier to use than changing tyres. As for a tyre blowout, yet to happen to me after over 40 years of driving. Probable reason that you were offered so little for your car is because there is little demand for it.
  10. Seems like you’re brainwashed bu the oil and gas companies.
  11. So sorry that you live in the boondocks. Where I live, I have electricity coming out of a hole in the wall. The amazing wonders of technology, yay.
  12. Guess you’re one of those annoying pi*cks that everyone would love to slap.
  13. It seems to me like you have not thought through your comment. Why does every EV have to be plugged in every night?
  14. It seems a lot of posters have comprehension problems. OP wants a sub 800k car mainly for city driving, in Chiang Mai and some posters are suggesting diesel powered pick up monstrosities. As if air pollution is not already a problem in CM. For those unfamiliar with CM roads, there are 3 main roads, the super Hwy 11, 700 year road and route 121. On these, you absolutely need to accelerate up to 80-100 kmh speedily, not 0-40. CM is not an island with twisty roads. Suggestions such as the City, Civic, Mazda 2/3, Swift are all good and you can’t really go wrong. But I believe there are better choices available such as the Dolhin, possibly the Neta or Aion (?), depending on the OP’s living circumstances.
  15. No offence but if your newer car is a 7 yr old car, don’t you think you are a bit out of touch with what’s available today?
  16. It’s obvious where you hang out and the kind of females you’re familiar with. You can almost have anyone? Lol.
  17. If I’m not mistaken, in the Dolphin, it changes the regen between high and standard.
  18. OP must be really bored in his little corner of Nakhon Nowhere, based on the number of new ridiculously threads he’s opening.
  19. Is this an example of the kind of quality tourists many posters are always calling for?
  20. It starts with the poor education at school from a young age. Coupled with ignorance and the sabai sabai and Mai been rai attitude and totally useless driving tests, the situation is unlikely to improve.
  21. The topic of this thread is “Is this the future for EVs”, showing a picture of a Tesla carrying around a presumably diesel generator to produce electricity to charge the Tesla if necessary. I will reserve comment on where this picture was taken but I think most of us can guess. What do some of you think is the future FOR EVs? What sort of advancements do you think will happen or what would you like to see? Longer range for some, faster charging speeds, both AC and DC? Most but not all have V2L but I believe in a year or so, every new EV/PHEV will support this functionality. Better regen than currently? More intelligent road planning, similar to something like ABRP? How about charging hubs like what the UK has, gridserve etc?
  22. There you go again, making baseless and ridiculous comments. If you bothered to and are capable of doing any research, you will realise that EVs are becoming more popular year after year. That’s why billions are being invested not just in the manufacture but in all the supporting industries, particularly charging. Of course you can be like an ostrich and pretend it’s not so. That’s your prerogative. As mentioned before. No one is forcing you to buy one.
  23. Some of all 4 nationalities were killed but that’s irrelevant. Surely there must be some decent, honourable, intelligent and capable individuals who are not war mongers and able to be a leader in a multi-polar world. Trump is a poor specimen of a human being and just imagine what the rest of the world would think about America and its people if he is re-elected. Actually, one could blame Bush but that’s another story and off topic here.
  24. What’s pasadouk?
  25. Trump is probably the most despicable public person alive today. Uncouth, uncivilised, narcissistic. And yet it seems like 1/3 of the population loves him and polls seem to indicate an overwhelming win in the 2024 election. Loosely, this translates to almost 50% of the population, seeing how the electoral college system works. What does that say about the country and its people? America should really try to sort out its own issues instead of telling others what to do. She is arguably the biggest threat to democracy as what’s happening and happened is making a mockery of democracy for the world to see.
