  1. Those who still believe in the debunked debt trap diplomacy can’t accept the fact that most of the participants in the BRI feel that it has done wonders for their country and has opened up their countries to amazing economic potential. With very few exceptions, the debt to China is significantly less than the debt to western corporations and institutions like the world bank and the imf. Even in the case of Sri Lanka, they actually owed more to Japan than to China. In the case of Taiwan, it’s the normal western interference and meddling so I won’t even bother to go there.
  2. I have no doubt many locals agree with you. I also have no doubt that many more locals are quite happy with Chinese tourism. In fact, when I was working in the tourism industry in Europe, most of our suppliers counted Chinese tourism as their main source of revenue and keep requesting for more.
  3. Inevitable as in eventually. As for China imploding financially, been watching Jog Blogs? Don’t hold your breath though.
  4. GWM has reopened the order books for the Ora Good Cat. Tesla is very expensive and unless they start to build up a charging network, doesn’t offer much more advantages over their rivals.
  5. You might want to consider your future plans of living in Thailand as mass Chinese tourism will inevitably resume.
  6. The Chinese government doesn’t tell other governments what to do or who to side with.
  7. Externally, I really like the looks of the EP and a station wagon is actually quite a good choice for Thailand nowadays. It would be much improved if they detailed the interior with better materials but that would also increase the price.
  8. Better the Chinese Government than the American Government I say.
  9. Fact remains that YT has cancelled RT. Free speech anyone?
  10. I am hoping to take delivery of the Haval H6 PHEV in the next couple of months. I decided to go for a PHEV as I regularly travel long distances to Isaan and Malaysia for Malaysian style hawker food and South Indian food (from CM).
  11. Not when you are a frequent customer but that’s not the point, as you well know.
  12. Look at it this way. You go on an all inclusive cruise where food/drink is free. But as you probably know, signature restaurants and some alcoholic beverages still have to be paid for. One day the hostess comes up to you and says that for tonight, dining at the fine dining French restaurant will not incur the normal surcharge plus a bottle of cab sav. Would you consider it a freebie?
  13. You mean electricity is free in WA because of the pandemic? That’s good.
  14. Due to the electoral college system, the President is sometimes not the first choice of the population. Go figure.
  15. Any guesses as to what the per kWh rate might be in 6 months time?
  16. Are these for professional use? Seems rather expensive for the weekend gardener. Asking because my wife is thinking of starting a lawn moving/ tree cutting service so I will need to work out the financials.
  17. Outside of Bangkok, what’s the speed limit on the motorways? For eg, Tak to Khon Kaen on Hwy 12? Is it also 120?
  18. Off peak hours and weekends, rate is under 5baht per kWh at PTT stations. Not sure about Bangchak. Home charging off peak (22:00 - 09:00) rate is under 3baht if TOU meter.
  19. I don’t remember when I said expensive west but I do think that the cost of living in the west is much more expensive than here in SEA. I also didn’t realise winter is over. I always thought winter was around December, January. 268 kWh over 61 days averages out to 4.4 kWh per day. How do you manage that? My base load alone is around 15kWh per day.
  20. I wonder if he and his companies will be sanctioned. He might have US chip technology in his Chinese made cars for FSD. Without FSD, the popularity of Chinese made Teslas will nosedive.
  21. Is charging at a MG dealer possible without a MG issued RFID?
  22. America deems itself above the law. Do as we say, not as we do. Hypocrisy and double standards at its worst.
  23. Fleet sales (for taxis etc) are a different scenario altogether then individual sales. I’m sure the RTP did not pay showroom prices for their smart BMW’s. When I was shopping for a small sized sedan, I was amazed at how much more expensive the Toyota models were compared to Mazda, Suzuki and MG. Not only that but the technology was obsolete. Some of the models didn’t even have an infotainment system much less Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I ended up buying the Mazda 2, great car. I didn’t realise that Haval is coming out with a full EV. That is very interesting but I’ve already put a down payment on the PHEV which suits my requirements. The few reviews I saw online about the BR4Z was lukewarm only, The efficiency seems below par compared to some other similarly priced vehicles. The Tesla is too expensive for me and doesn’t have the support network for now so it’s really buyers beware.
  24. Strange, I typed into Google, bass moving to China and google returned some hits including FT. I clicked on it and was able to read the article even though I’m not subscribed. Anyway, looks like mod has deleted my post so it’s been deemed off topic I guess.
