  1. I have no idea but I do know that the Outlander has been a best seller all over the world. If I’m not mistaken, it’s one of the first ever PHEVs.
  2. Top is the model selling in Thailand. Bottom is the latest model already being sold in other parts of the world
  3. Also; Kia Thailand sells the Soul EV as the only electrified vehicle here Mazda does not have any electrified vehicles for sale in Thailand Mitsubishi is still selling the previous generation of the Outlander In Malaysia, Hyundai sells both the Kona and Ioniq 5 whereas Hyundai Thailand does not have any electrified vehicles for sale. Ridiculous situation when you consider the charging infrastructure in Thailand is probably 10 times better than in Malaysia.
  4. This is getting boring. China is the manufacturing capital of the world. Products are made to a price point. You are able to procure any quality standard you desire, price being the main determinant. It’s only old blinkered geezers that think China made products are sub par to those produced in Western countries. The simple fact of the matter is that China is able to manufacture a comparable product at a cheaper price. Even Toyota is thinking of contracting BYD to manufacture the new Toyota Cross.
  5. I would imagine that with the vehicles coming out of the Rayong plant, there would be no shortage of engineers to diagnose and solve problems that might arise. Same can’t be said for vehicles that are CBU.
  6. You wrote “yes, BUT they are subject to Tesla …” That sounds to me that except for Tesla’s specifications and QC, the product would be inferior. It is on this point that I begged to differ.
  7. Yes, I envy people like you that can withstand the high temperatures in Thailand. Unfortunately, I don’t enjoy the heat so I’m forced to have 2 aircons running during the day and 1 at night. This drives up my electricity usage which is luckily offset by my solar panels. Another advantage is that I will be able to charge my PHEV FOC.
  8. Thanks to my solar installation, I average 400 units per month. Otherwise I would be averaging over 600 (and that’s without a koi pond or solid gold gates)
  9. The H6 is supposedly the best selling SUV in its segment (C Suv). It has been the best selling model since it’s launch in Aug 2021, outselling both the MG and the Honda CRV. https://www.wapcar.my/news/chinese-suvs-continue-outselling-the-honda-crv-in-thailand-in-jan-and-feb-2022-43744
  10. “only wannabe's really like them.” What a strange statement. EVs produces a lot more torque at low rpms, making it easier and safer to join traffic. Cost per mile is significantly cheaper than ICEs. Maintenance cost is also much lower. Only downside currently is that driving long distances can be challenging but this will be remedied in the not too distant future.
  11. What are you on about? I neither love nor hate EVs or ICEs. All I want from a car is to get me from A to B in the greatest comfort possible and as cheaply as possible. My post was in response to your flawed observation that consumers are not buying Chinese made cars because they are Chinese made. This may be the case for racist ignorant car buyers but in Thailand (as in many parts of the world), Chinese made cars are selling like hotcakes, mainly because they represent extremely good value for money compared to the competition.
  12. Do a bit of research instead of letting your ignorance show through for all to see.
  13. CATL is the world’s largest battery manufacturer. China is also the biggest solar panel manufacturer in the world. So if China made products are rubbish and no one buys them, who or what is buying them? Are they being exported to Andromeda in China made interstellar electric spaceships?
  14. What on earth did a topic about a Haval vehicle has to do with the CCP?
  15. Putting environmental issues aside, hybrids reduces fuel consumption by as much as 25% in some cases. This is definitely good for the pocket. Concerning floods, I gather you didn’t see the video of the electric Volvo that was fully submerged in water and was still able to be driven out? A hybrid vehicle does not cease to function after 10 years when the battery has lost only 20-30% of its charge. It still has a fully functioning ICE and electric motor and can be driven much like any ICE vehicle. I would venture that in 10 years time, it would be a cinch to replace the battery (or parts of it) if really necessary. 2nd hand electric vehicles in the UK are currently selling for the same price as it was purchased a few years ago so the resale values look good.
  16. Bangkok and any other major city in Thailand that has high traffic volumes. I live about 15 kms outside of CM so I can envisage that 90% of my driving will be emission free (good for the city) and at a fraction of the price. GWM has a dealer and service centre in pretty much every changwat so I suspect it won’t be any better or worse than BKK.
  17. I don’t see anything wrong with that. 1.4 billion people do anyway. But I see it more as supporting industries and innovations that will ultimately improve the lives of millions of people.
  18. “I have close friends in Taiwan and for years they have had to put up with the threats of violence from the CCP.” Yes, the poor Taiwanese. They are so much worse off than those middle easterners that had to put up with ACTUAL violence from the Yanks. ”And then make no attempt to minimize the amount of tax revenue the CCP can collect to use in pursuing their expansionist aims.” I wonder how much the American military industrial complex makes selling arms and weapons to continue their domination by force in many parts of the world “Ugly front end and likely will not hold its value as well as a Toyota. Cheaper is more expensive in the end” Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I find the interiors of a lot of Japanese made cars outdated and boring. The new generation of electrified vehicles are so much more futuristic and exciting. I’ll bet that a 4 wheeled Haval will have more value than a 3 wheeled Toyota Br4z lol. Since the Chinese made cars are so cheap, I can just write them off without much thought after a few years of usage.
  19. Curious as to why. Are you not interested in new technology that is more efficient? Would you prefer to ride in a diesel powered train as opposed to a high speed electric train? Or maybe you believe steam is best?
  20. The Haval H6 PHEV (if launched) will be the market leader with a claimed nedc range of 201 km. BYD intends to launch a similar range PHEV. BMW has a miserly range of about 40-50 kms, same for Volvo (which is incidentally a Chinese company) and apart from the Rav Prime, the Japanese are not even in the race. Thank you Chinese manufacturers, for making ownership of electrified vehicles a compelling and viable option to ICE.
  21. From what I know about world history, most of the suffering is caused by Western powers (and also Japanese imperialism). Just look at what’s happening in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Yemen to name a few.
  22. This is a good video about future of GWM in Thailand. Impressive looking setup, down in Rayong. Should be good for the Thai economy and consumers. If I’m not mistaken, BYD also intends to set up a factory in Thailand soon.
