To get a person named PM, maybe but what can they do in the house once they get it and will Anutin play second fiddle gain. The challenge is not getting your person as PM it is about getting your party in power and being able to stay in power. PT dropping MFP opens them up to be the loyal opposition and would hurt them n the long run. Siding with Anutin is almost as bad as siding with the military.

Phuethai and Anutin are not a big enough majority. Once all the smoke settles and the government has gotten settled If they join together I would expect a vote of NO confidence by MFP or whatever the party name is. Any joining with Anutin would hurt the PT considerably. The only way for PT to survive at all is to stay with the coalition as it stands and make nice with MFP.

Believe it or not the constitution lays out that the senate will be formed by representatives elected from each Changwat. As to the right to participate in the election of the PM that would take an amendment to the constitution which with the PT and MFP majority should not be difficult.

The challenges that MFP has as has been discussed are more about the changes to the rules of business taxes and the gravy train that the rich in Thailand live off of. If MFP were going to leave the rich getting richer and not change any of the rules I think a deal could have been done. Abolishing the draft is not popular because it keeps the poor in check. While PT are not obviously pro-military they are pro-cronyism and if allowed will leave the rich alone as well as leave the lese majese alone although I am not 100% sure that they can not see some light for a few of the red shirts in amending 112. The biggest mistake that the PT can make of have thrown on thim is the support for Sretha as PM by the military parties. This could lead to people painting them with a we like the military way of things brush.

Under normal (for Thailand) circumstances I would agree. But the army and military have a strong aversion to Thaksin and has destroyed the PT every time it was elected. Even though it is obvious that eh people will not support a coup they still are I am sure thinking of this as the long run solution. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of absences and abstentions for any PT member. The powers that be are still trying to hold onto power It is funny that there is one person that could help resolve this but he is being silent.

Actually I think the result might be different in that the whole thing about 112 can be debated. But more importantly by the time a new election can be set up and new vote for pm held there may not be a Senate to vote. Remember that these clowns cease to exist as senators in may. A caretaker government would have a lot of difficulty selecting a new one. I also think that people may open their eyes. Yes I am being optimistic.
