Moti24--thanks for that update information (of your recent experience), which most people should be grateful for, but of course there always has to be the odd few that question minor details as if you are writing false information.
Instead of this silly type of argument (and if one month of seasoning is really that important) they should talk to immigration directly.
As you basically suggested, as have others over the years, if in doubt just season for 3 months..done and dusted.
Thanks again.

Something others havent mentioned. If you married then just change to a marriage extension before May 1oth. No leaving the country and once the marriage ext is approved (usually 30 days after the application) then you can start the Work Permit process. Yes there is a lot more paperwork involved (but easy if you follow their regulations).
You don't have to inform the retirement desk of your intention, just front up to the Marriage desk.
But of course if you are not married then I'm sure the others will give you their best advice..good luck

LOL:
when u die the police show up an demand all credit cards, atm cards, passport, cash at home etc an ur account is locked UNLESS its a dual account which can not be used for the retirement purpose
this has happened to more than one friend of mine that has died in Thailand in the past 18 monthsDude this is such a crock of crap...passport sure, so it can be cleared with the Embassy, but if married, then the other items they don't give a sh__ about.
Now if a person is single, then they don't have to demand anything, its there for the taking if they want. Either way immediate family can request all items officially from the police after the case is cleared. Embassy will normally help in this regard.

Sometime soon I will need full knee replacement. So a few questions that hopefully can be answered by people that have had the surgery already with their personal experiences.
-how many days in hospital after the surgery
-how soon does hospital rehab start, and what pain medication given
-how long on crutches before hobbling
-how long to fully walk
-how long before you could drive
-I presume exercise such as 'exercise bike' would help--when could that start
Also those people that had the surgery in Thailand, did your insurance fully cover (ie: Bupa, AIA, Pac Cross etc).
Also I would think the fitter you are going into the surgery would help recovery???
Thanks in advance for your stories and comments.

Gents thanks for the fast replies.
Sounds like it might be better to park at Lotus or Central Marina and take the 5 minute walk.

Need to do the mandatory Terminal 21 visit today. So would like information please on the carpark entrance(s).
Is there one or two entrances.
Is one easier, or less traffic than the other.
In the carpark itself are all floors available (or some for hotel, ladies etc like Central).
Thanks for any and all info received.

nolonger bother with cabled connections. Signed up for line mobile unlimited. Hotspot for round the house and run netflix and youtube, etc all day long, the kids use it and run playstations from it. 802b per month. Will go up when the 12month period ends but still beats paying for home and phone or i should say phoneS.
Speeds fine. Never any lag. Will never use ais again. Dam criminals!
Would you mind elaborating on the 'line mobile'.
What is it exactly (wifi, 4G?), who is behind it and how to sign up or find out more.
Thank you

Everyone thank you for your contributions...very helpful.
Although nothing about TRUE--so hopefully some info on that later.
Thanks again.

From people that are using fibre only internet (including possibly TV), I would like some feedback on there the above 3 providers.
I will be looking at a new installation, so interested in reliability, speed promised and probably more importantly speed of technical help (and the call center). I see that for about 700-990 baht you can get between 100/30 to 150/50.
Thanks in advance for helpful answers.
Forgot to say I'd be installing near Satit school area, but all replies on any pattaya area are very welcome. Thanks again.

Yes for most nationalities. (check on website if yours ok..what ever it may be.)
It is about US$30. The visa lane is on the left side before passport control.
Thais are visa free. Easy experience.

Yes I agree that the locally made crumpets (eg: Siambury's) are far too doughy and that reflects on the taste.
But Villa Supermarket still have crumpets in the freezer behind the eggs.
They are a pack of 6. They are more expensive, but the taste and moistness is yummy.
So if you into crumpets as an alternative snack sometimes then these definitely fit the bill.

Thanks for this pic. October 1979 was my first trip to Thailand. No interest for Pattaya then, went hiking amongst the poppy fields on the Burmese border...
Well this is deja vu for sure, and actually quite amazing
The guy in the lower right (brown shirt and bell bottom trousers) is me.
I believe on that trip down from Bangkok we had to use the ferry to cross the Chonburi River (maybe someone can verify the timeframe on that).
I don't have have pix of my Pattaya trips then, but still have my Patpong photos from that era. I used to be part owner of the Pitstop in those days (was next to Ricks Grand Prix Bar).
Thanks for the memory jolt.

I think you are very insecure, and this is a bit of a joke for us TV warriors.
SUV means 'sit under vans' just in case the elephants charge! (you could also insert an 'h' into sit...which would probably be more appropiate if the elephants do charge).

Hi there. I probably have the qualifications you are requesting.
Can you PM me with more info etc.
Thank you.

I had the exact same situation as yours.
Your company have deducted as per the law, and it is up to you to file next year and get the overpaid amount back. I am still in country so I just waited and filed, but if you won't come back to file then you will lose that overpaid amount.
There is no way for your company to pay you back taxes already in the system.
Actually if you had talked to them in January, they may have accommodated you, but once the tax deductions started then they are not obligated to change on your behalf.
So unless you come back and file, then you have gifted Thailand a few thousand baht.

I transferred Thai Baht equivalent of $6,000 from my Bkk Bank Naklua last week in about 5 minutes.
Fill out the form, copy of passport and its in your overseas Bank within 24 hours.
I pay the fees this end.
THERE IS NO NEED FOR COMPLICATED PAPERWORK ANYMORE FOR SMALLISH AMOUNTS.
Tomorrow I will do the same with $10,000, which I already put the form in last week, and just take passport tomorrow morning. Easy Peasy.
Note! I do have a WP, but they weren't interested...just passport.
Cheers.

Ok I have your solution.
I went overseas a few months ago and during my stay had your exact same problem.
couldn't do anything online etc. Pissed me off, but unsolvable from where I was.
When I returned I phoned Kasikorn (they are good with great english speakers).
I'm sorry I can't remember the exact reason, but the only solution is to call Kasikorn and they will reactivate your card verification, BUT then you must go through the online procedure again which will NOW WORK.
I know this is probably complicated for you, but is the only way.
The Kasikorn number is on the back of your card.
Hope this helps.

As others have said you are covered by strict labour laws. As they have dismissed you (without cause by the look of it) you are entitled to severance pay. This can be 3, 6 or 12 months pay depending on your length of employment.
If they refuse just take your case to the Labour dept and they are very fair. Possibly arbitration, but usually if the claim is legit, then the company must pay.
I suggest you just look for Thai Labour Law on the web, and you'll find everything that you need.

I have had a safety deposit box at Kasikorn Pattaya Thai for over 20 years. This is safe.
Why would you entrust your valuables to some private company who could possibly go out of business, or heaven forbid be one of our 'fly by night' companies.
In my opinion just asking for worry.
'just to clarify that I do not know anything about Siam Secure, or any other private safety box company, but I am just giving my opinion on the stupidity of trusting your life's valuables to a private company'.

That is a significant report considering right now we are the middle of a major controversy about whether the rule has changed on income letters which definitely has been six months allowed for years now but recently some controversy suggesting it was changed to only ONE month.
May I ask you did you get the information about the income letter at the intake front desk or at the actual internal RETIREMENT desk?
Thank you. I consider you have made a significant report regarding this new controversy.
I talked with Mr Somsak (who is the longtime Retirement Officer at the Retirement desk--and who I play badminton with sometimes (large group)...and 6 mths was his answer and also a nod from the young lady taking the photo, when picking up your passport. So there you have it for yesterdays info.

One day is OK.
I was at Jomtien Immigration yesterday renewing my Retirement extension and asked 2 questions at the of the Officer which will make things clear.
1) The Bank Letter can be up to 3 days old (but make sure your book total is the same as the letter if you do take the whole 3 days).
2) The paperwork using the Embassy method can be up to 6 months.
Hope that helps.
Remember this is Jomtien that I am talking about.

22 minutes ago, Pilotman said:look let' s stop this now. Two weeks ago, in preparation for my application, I went into the Immigration office and spoke to one of the officers there. Around 30 years old, two gold bars, nice smile, sorry, I didn't get her name, or a copy of her ID. She was very helpful in telling me precisely what was expected in terms of documentation, It was she who suggested that I get a notarised document saying where I lived in place of a utilities bill.
This is the very last time I bother to detail any experiences I have of this nature. Good luck to you.
Mr Pilotman.
Well done on posting this up to date information...lots of people will find it very useful.
Don't get pissed at the few that always have to find something wrong with a post. You have to remember some of these guys live for 'replies' and have their fingers ready to type as soon as a new topic opens.
So keep up the good work, and I personally like a person that checks all the ins and outs before applying.
Well done from me.
Let the others open their own thread on the topic they don't believe and you (and I) can read it from the sidelines.
Good evening..

So from the experience of some of you posters, what are the names of some Pattaya agents that deliver their promises, within the minimum of hassle.
Also interested to know if anyone has ever done a 'marriage extension' with an agent.
