  1. it's been around for quite a while now. we went by there some time ago and unless things have changed, you have to buy a fairly large quantity; no small orders. at the time the prices reflected large orders - and were not inexpensive. maybe things have changed. i would give it another try if so.

  2. except that on many of the products they are an agent for another company (and they add an additional 1500+ Bath as their commission). the items are shipped from Hong Kong - i would imagine duty will be charged as well. so, no warranty at all and the actual seller is in another country. as was said....if something goes wrong - kiss the money good bye.

You're wrong, Lazada COD they can't charge more.

But warranty usually isn't much good in Thailand anyway.

the item my friend wants is shipped from Hong Kong. no COD available on International sales. she called them yesterday and they confirmed. the price is almost 2K Bath more than anywhere else on the Internet.

  3. Look on the Web site of online seller Lazada Thailand, they sell Xiaomi products & will deliver COD to your door. As an example the Xiaomi camera mentioned above is there at 3,000 Baht

  4. thanks for the replies thus far. so i guess we'll try Siam TV later today. the company has a facebook shop in Thailand but apparently they don't have the model she is looking for - only an older model. there is anon-line vendor in Hat Yai, but how does anyone know if they might be buying a fake?

  5. a friend is in town visiting and she wants to purchase a "Xiaomi Redmi Note" mobile that she saw in her travels. i had never heard of this brand until i googled it. is it any good? are there any shops in C.M. selling this brand that i can take her to? she is going to Bangkok in a few days so she could buy it there if it is not available here. any info i could pass on will be appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

  6. Prices like DUkes? I don't get that one

Must be great being so affluent that you don't get it. A meal there can cost as much as a rice farm worker's monthly wage.

In recent years I have kind of lost my taste for large western meals

so cannot really comment on Dukes meals prices but............

I will say I do still need a burger once a month or so & the burger at Dukes is not only quite good

& consistent but priced lower than a dbl cheeseburger set at Mcdonalds

That is saying something considering the two meals. I don't know about rice farmers but at both Dukes & McDee's I always see many Thai

    customers at prime times

I always see many Thai customers at prime times

??? Plenty of very wealthy Thais around, but I guarantee you won't see any rice farm workers eating at Dukes, though their children might be serving you.

My father in law is a rice farmer and he eats at Dukes once a month, has been doing that since it opened. His rice field is not far away.

our friends who are Lamyai farmers in Chantaburi eat at the Dukes whenever they come to visit Chiang Mai. (and we always get into a bit of a back and forth with them because they always insist on paying the entire bill)!

  7. not a fan of country music by any means but there used to be a place also on the Mae Jo Road, but further out past the intersection of the road that goes from the Mae Rim Road to the Doi Saket Road, on the right side. maybe 1 km past the intersection. kind of a strange place set back from the road a little, but they had country music. was not difficult to miss as the only entertainment venue on that stretch. been lots of development lately so not sure if still there. had real shit-kicker country music.

  8. it's on the news now. he has killed before. as i understood it, he killed a tomboy in Patpong the same way, stuffing a beer bottle in her rectum until she died. i may have not got this part entirely correct but i believe they said he killed another girl by the C.M. train station. changed his name as many as 10 times and has done time in prison for the murder of the tomboy in Bangkok. sick f..k

  9. There was one guy who posted here about 3-5 yrs back who won his case after a huge plot of land, custom house n many millions of baht - originally in pounds went poof when divorce time came. I eventually ended up meeting the ex by strange circumstances in the local hi-so scene and never let on that I knew about her past.

From what I saw over the last few yrs, is that the place was up for sale since even before the decision, and without any buyers, the whole resort-like property was defacto hers. So that kind of gets towards enforceability, even if a judgement is made in your favor.

You might search a bit more for it - headline was something like "Justice Received of Justice Served," though my memory could be off. If you find the thread, pm him to find out the lawyer's name and what happened in the end.

    Best of luck.

well not really, no divorce as no marriage. but as i heard from a reliable source, a very large settlement was entered into with she getting something like 12 million Baht if the place ever sold which i don't think it did - as you said.

it's an uphill battle. maybe don't waste your money on a lawyer. chok dee na

  10. Thanks for posting! 200 Baht is quite reasonable if it includes a beer. I'll visit next time I have visitors to entertain.

Where is it exactly? Is it alongside the soi where also the blues pub is?

No. Its *RIGHT* in middle of Anusarn Market. Like, right where all the families with young children are trying to enjoy dinner.... Hard to miss these flamboyant, scantily-clad ladyboys, behaving the same way you would expect them to late night on Pattaya Walking Street.

Forgive me for being a "hater", but there is a time and place for everything. And in the middle of a family dining experience is just really NOT the place for scantily-clad, sexually suggestive/ harassing ladyboys..

    -Mestizo

have to agree with you completely. it should be moved away from the area where families go.

  11. ill be staying santitham, but anywhere around there, inside the moat or nimihamin area is fine. The only place i know that is open early is the 24 hr thai restaurant on the moat but they dont have the full menu available in the morning, or didnt the few times i went there last year

that would be Jok Somphet. i go there perhaps 4 or 5 times per month at odd hours and the full menu is available. once in a while if they run out of something at like 3:30-4:00 a.m. , it may not be until perhaps 6:00 when the next shift comes that they will bake more chicken, fish, etc. but it's not often.

  12. But it is nice to have so many people to blame for the shit we find ourselves in.

Would far rather have no one to blame.. Just someone to pay..

    Anyway...

i feel your pain OP. trying to recover from surgery and just want to get the problem solved. it's not easy finding someone to do good plumbing work, believe me.

  13. For the OP, ride around to nearby high quality houses under construction and find a plumber there, if none are on site, ask the foreman for contact information of the plumber for the house(s).

i've already tried that in my area (Sansai) and they all said that they work for the contractor full time and that they can't take outside jobs..must speak with the boss and go through him/her. i've also been by nearby [not so] high quality houses under construction and looked and decided i can do better plumbing work (but don't know how to solve a leak). in the usa i would go under my house or in my basement where all the copper pipes were clearly exposed and solve the problem. here, the pipes go into concrete!

  14. +1 to the list for needing a competent plumber. we have a leak but don't know where. with everything shut off, the meter is still spinning slowly. last month our bill was 800 Bath. never been more than 500 in 10 years. i'm getting sick of turning off the valve 2-3 times a day to try and save money. had 2 locals come by and look (and just scratch their heads....("mai loo".....)

  15. Unfortunately the situation is not going to improve and I can foresee the eventual closing down of most of the adult entertainment venues in Chiang Mai.

You've been predicting this for many years already and it has never happened. I am guessing that things will continue pretty much as they have been.

right. his predictions and tips from "inside connections" have not gone the way he predicted. in fact it's just the opposite. i think he may be a NARC.

  16. none of those herbs will do anything for you. what you need to do is visit your pharmacist and order Alfuzosin XL 10 mg., manufactured by Sanofi Aventis. works like a charm for issues related to enlarged prostate.

boiled rice water???? durian leaf??? come on...
