I would also give a thumbs down to this place. Looks nice when you walk in. But the food....extremely disappointing. Not Chinese at all.
Like has been said before, if someone where to open a really great Cantonese restaurant in C.M., with real Chinese chefs, they would make a bloody fortune.
Lawrence Chee, who started this thread and seems to know quite a bit about Chinese food, identified this cuisine as being from Teochew. So it may be obscure, but it's certainly Chinese. It certainly isn't Thai, except for a few dishes expressly aimed at Thai people.
it's Thai, not Chinese. it could be a Teochew theme but it is food prepared by Thais only [not a Chinese chef in the kitchen] with Thai ingredients and geared toward the Thai palate.

a 5750 Bath mattress in Thailand will last probably 6 months. you get what you pay for here. i agree what others said. any mattress under 15K Bath is absolute junk here.

I've been having loads of problems with 3bb in Chiang Mai as well. Incredibly slow a lot of the time and other times normal. I find it helps if I unplug the modem for about 10 seconds and plug it back in. Used to be fine, just recently very slow. Had some technicians over but of course it worked fine while they were here. Good service though, I called them and the guys were around within the hour. It's frustrating though, I wonder if my modem needs replacing?
i doubt there is anything wrong with your modem. i'm actually a little disappointed in 3BB technicians for lying and wasting my time telling me my 3 month old modem/router is bad. I wasted 4 hours of driving time and waiting at the D-Link repair place to find this "problem". they told me i was given false information by 3BB. they said the router/modem was/is functioning 100%.

don't know. here is the results of my speed test just now:

22 February 2014 17:14:30what a joke!had the senior technicians over yesterday and they told me that sanook.com and kapook.com work fine (they do) so the problem is my router/modem. went to the D-Link service place yesterday...waited 3 hours! for them to test it and repair it while i waited. at the end of the day they told me there is nothing wrong with the modem/router, that it works perfectly.sanook and kapook work perfectly but i can't connect to yahoo, citibank, americanexpress, etc., can't use youtube, skype and thaivisa.com....well i can take a walk around the moobaan waiting for a page to load!i'm so sick of this b.s. -
sometimes I get up in the morning and after checking out of few other things go to the General forum on ThaiVisa and I see 10 of these lined up like cherries on a slot machine -- so how is that considered stalking?
its called obsessive/compulsive posting like a few others on this forum who have a number of aliases. apparently they don't have much of a life to come all the way to Thailand to sit in front of their computers posting on TV all day and night.

Never really understood the whole salaried wife thing.
Stop paying and she's gone, yeah, sounds like real love.
i don't understand it either. i've never given a Satang. my wife's business pulls in about 35K Bath per month. she is careful with her money, invests it, etc. she never gives a Satang to relatives. if you have to pay money to be in a relationship then you are doing something wrong.

been wondering the same thing myself. a lot of Thais on facebook are also asking if anyone knows what it means...

passed it the other day. was surprised, maybe even shocked to see so many falangs in that part of Sansai. place was packed - all falangs. sometimes days go by and i never see a falang in that area. thought it was a convention until i realized it was a restaurant. i know it's not very helpful but even though i've lived in the area for 10 years i don't know the name or number of the road. all i can offer is if you are heading North into Sansai from where the Sansai market is (making a left at the market when on Kaewnarawat), look to your left about 200? meters. if you hit the road where Tesco Lotus mini-mart is on the left corner, then you have gone too far.
Almost correct. More like 1 kllo up on the right side heading out to the 3rd ring road. Past the big temple about 500 meters. Yes the food is awesome. I am told that Gung and Tory are not knew to this. They ran successful operation in Hua Hin. If you pass the green pt gas station on the left, you have missed it by 50 meters.
Free buffet every Wednesday is a nice mid week treat.
how could they have a free buffet?

i can't recommend it either. my wife is Chinese Thai and she hated the food. we went once... it was really Thai food and too expensive for Thai food.

Have you got your gas masks supply ?
Burning season started already?
yes it has. while driving around some remote, rural farming villages in the San Kamphaeng area yesterday, they were burning everywhere. we saw at least 6 fires. we even saw a little girl no more than 10 or 11 years old controlling one fire; swatting it and sweeping burning debris with an old broom. parents taught her well! the smoke was unbelievable. it seems they always use an old tire to ignite these fires.

If it is American Standard, they can send a service man out, contact their office on the Super Highway access road about 100 meters west of Tesco Lotus on the same side.
unless it's a brand new toilet they will refer you to Nappadol Pannich on San Kamphaeng Road. they sold all their stock of parts for older bathroom fixtures to Pannich. been through that already. all the older parts are over there. again so easy to do yourself it's silly.

Can I get a link to this. Guy's blog?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
I found the blog by doing a Google search. Two hours later the same Google search didn't find the page and I don't understand why. I had to go through my history to find the link which is below.
http://www.livingthai.org/sex-with-a-chiang-mai-rajabhat-university-girl.html
Mods: Please spend a few minutes to read the blog referred to above to see the state of this person's mind before rejecting posts. I can't express my true feelings which would include expressions such as sick without this post being rejected. To allow this person to be in an official position where there is even the tiniest chance of his being able to use the position to take advantage of Thai girls is totally outrageous.
Many of us are happy to escape the political correctness of the West but there are limits which should not be exceeded.
Alert: you may be imposing your morals and missing sense of humor on to others.
But thank you for the link, I thought it was hilarious. Also nothing illegal happens anywhere in the story, which is clearly written to make it a 'good' story and I enjoyed it as such.
It's a little more audacious than what I used to do, but it's not like I've never been in similar situations myself. And in between the lines there is some reasonably sound advice. (Specifically that the best way to make first contact with girls who aren't bargirls (or otherwise in the tourist scene) is online, but not the friend-finder sites and the like.)
You sound as if he clubs girls on the head and shoves them in his van.
Summary: Men are dogs. News @ 11.
Try and live a little. Or at least appreciate it when other people (pretend they) do.
pretty much what i said earlier. strictly entertainment.

buy the kit and do it yourself. just take the toilet brand and model number to Napadol Pannich and they will sell you the kit. even my wife can replace the entire set of parts in her rental properties toilets in 30 minutes. most people in Thailand who call themselves plumbers do terrible, messy, unprofessional jobs. very easy to do yourself. if American Standard; get American Standard parts, all sold in a kit.

the immigration department should sort this maggot out,
send him back where he comes from.
probably got kicked out of the boy scouts for being a wanke_r
and looks like nothing has changed in his life
I would stay well clear of knobends like these
how do you know? do you even know him? he may just be a clever bloke making money from adverts or page clicks on the internet. he may even be a nice guy. why would immigration care about "this maggot"? nice term for someone you don't even know. i don't know him either... but not so quick to judge.
Go to his blog site and read his opinions, then report back.
O.K. i'll report back. i had already seen his blog. so what? he's making money. who knows if those are his "opinions" or he is just appealing to people seeking out that kind of stuff. seems like a clever entrepreneur to me. don't believe everything you read.

Some of their staff speak English (the owners do). They were helpful sorting our my tickets for visit to the UK over Christmas, would use them again.
North side of the moat, first shop in a row of shop houses between the computer malls and the Ford showroom.

Try this speed test site to see what speed you are REALLY getting with your web browser: http://testmy.net
You may be surprised at how much slower it is than the Flash based sites tell you...
took 7 attempts to connect to that website.

is it just me? the internet has been almost unusable for more than 50 hours now. takes up to 2, maybe 3 minutes to load a page. connections to bank websites time out before a log-in can complete. email (even if sent from a computer in the same room from/to the same provider) takes up to 9 hours to be delivered. reminds me of 1988 or thereabouts! can't get any work done at all. can't pay my credit card bill.
took almost 5 minutes for "edit post" to complete!
Is sunflower oil safe to use?
in General Topics
Posted
in our home we use rice bran oil for cooking Thai food and olive oil for everything else. palm oil is nasty stuff. sunflower oil is not too bad.
