  1. Kaspersky internet security, nothing just beats this.

I run a software company - 3 machines at home , and another couple in the office. I put kaspersky on every single one of em.

Its costs about a 1000 baht and its worth every penny. You could get it online , use it free for 30 days and then buy it online as well.

Free with a Barclays Bank account :)

  2. recuva (free download & use) retrieved my data 'lost' on a HDD after the drive failed to read unless I formatted it using quick format.

In your case data that is overwitten is rarely retrievable. Each of us has our own favourite programmes to use and as been said already you will need a spare drive or enough space to reover the data to.

  3. I have used an e-visa half a dozen times using my debit card and had no problems at all.

I also dislike the full page visa stamp in my passport that wastes valuable space.

Luckily for me I have a car and drive there myself, get my exit / entry stamps with no hassle from the border guys and have as much time as I want to pick up cheap viagra, ciggies and to look around the market before coming back.

  4. I looked back over the 10 year chart and it is enough to make you cry. 2004 / 2005 over 70 Baht to the £ for 2 years. No wonder I could do so much more and go so many places when I first arrived. And that Mitsubishi 4 door truck the then woman in my life got for 7K Baht a month was only £100.

    Sigh.

  5. On reflection, I would remove AVG from the 2 I mentioned because this computer in the UK had a virus that AVG did not pick up.

I've used Comodo myself in Thailand as well as avast and never had a problem with them. In saying that, I've never had a problem with AVG in the last 6 years or so until this time, so nothing is ever perfect.

  6. Some email addresses have been removed from posts, please see the following rule:

    13) Not to post email addresses in posts due to potential spam problems.

If you want to send an email then best to use the PM system which is secure.

<----- slaps himself for being a bad boy ;)

  7. thx for the reply, I play NFS The Run.. a driving game and another driving game and i also have winning 11 a soccer game, the video sometimes youutube music and sports during football season

I cannot see those games servers having too much trouble. YouTube will have no problem neither will sports like football.

Why not talk to your service provider. Ask them to downgrade you and also ask if you can upgrade at any time in the future. That way you can check to see if your speeds are OK and if they are not, you can then upgrade back.

  8. To the OP.....

Look, life is full of uncertainties. You might die tomorrow - and with your stress levels that is more likely than not.

We know the moon is not made of cheese because we landed on it. There are no giant cheese eating mice waiting to invade earth.

Chill out. Live life, not worry about it. Learn what is and what is not here and live by those rules. If you have been stung it is your own fault.

I have just got my new Non O and am happy as a lark to be coming back to Thailand for another 15 months. £125 well spent in my opinion.

I do not buy what I cannot own. I rent a house. I rent a woman. I holiday and have fun. Thailand can be a wonderful place if you play the game correctly. If they want me out what do I lose? Maybe a cheap car and a Fino. Big deal for all the fun I have here year after year on my Non O visas :)

  9. anyone know the email address of mr T .agree that he should be made aware of the incident reported by SOTSIRA .but it is easy way to book aswell.

    081 2587716

    081 3513612

are the last contact details I have.

  10. There are two that I use and they are very similar the latter being the best, soi beokow just past LK metro going south on right the is a pharmacy across the road and the best is the gold shop off south pattaya road, going along 3rd road turn left at the juction then take next right (opposite CAT telecom) I think it's called soi rungland and about 10 meters on the left - this is the best I've found anywhere in pattaya

The place on Soi Rungland is called "Bank Gold" and they do have one of the best rates in town. you can call them at 038-42-0097 before you go down to get the rate you are interested in.

    Thanks :)

  11. For live streaming of sports the cheaper option should give you no real problems. The same applies for most general surfing.

As far as online gaming goes that will depend on the games but I feel you may well suffer in that aspect.

A lot of live streaming and online gaming depends on the servers being used and how many people are using that service at any one time.

At times I cannot stream live sports in Thailand due to too many people being on a particualr server. Other servers there is no lag at all.

My son in the UK uses 50MB Virgin service and he suffers lag on some games he plays online due to the amount of people playing the games. On other games he has no lag at all because the game servers are massive.

Maybe we need a little more information on what live streaming you watch and what games you play online.

  12. I wonder what version of English, English we are talking about? My mother tongue is Yorkshire and that sounds very little like Queens English.

There are so many dialects from the cider drinkers down south through the Brummie language in the Midlands then up through the greatest county in England (Yorkshire) up to the Borders where we need to re-build that wall.

When I listen to Americans, Canadians, Aussies and Kiwis I can understand most of what they say. They listen to me with my strong Nort East / Yorkshire accent and sometimes they need an interpreter. One of my friends from Dorset is also hard to understand by other 'English' speaking countries.

Consider what it must be like for Thai people to wade through so many different accents never mind Europeans and others.

The beauty of the English language :P

  13. I think it's fairly obvious that there is MUCH more to this case than is being reported.

The timeline regarding her leaving and marrying the policeman seems at odds with when she was reported missing.

Also, Is it me or is it VERY UNUSUAL for a Thai woman to have a registered firearm.

All in all, who knows what he actually said in the police interview, or what his reasons were for saying what he said.

Over the course of time I'm sure it will become more clear, but I'd bet it's not a straightforward case.

If she was married to a Thai policeman when he killed her (if indeed he did) then why on earth would he leave her body decomposing in his house, it just doesn't add up. Surely he would be expecting the police to come round and look for her.

And if she was married to this policeman, why did they find her gun + 58 bullets at the Norwegians house?

    Very odd.

  14. To lambast a person who speaks English as their 2nd language is appalling. The language police on here should be ashamed of their dictatorial little selves.

Agreed...We should all spend a little time in the week educating our less fortunate TV members in the joys of the English language, I am of course referring to those members who hail from places like Scotland, US, Wales, Liverpool, Newcastle and finally those poor unfortunate soles who come from Birmingham...jap.gif

Way aye man. We'd best be gannin doon the rood to school tamarra to learn this English

  15. I would send an email to Mr. T or call him. He should know what happened. Problems do arise, but he seems to be a good person and I'm sure would want to hear about this.

And yes, I also build in a lot of extra time just in case something like this happens also!!

I would send Mt.T a mail too. Whenever I have spoken to him he does seem genuine. He could then have a word with this driver.

Another point being that if Mr.T does not know about these things he cannot do anything about them. Plus if he has a few bad reports about a driver it would be in his best interest to get the problem sorted.

  16. I always use the money exchange kiosk opposite the Subway on Beach road near junction Soi 11. The rate is only slightly better than the bank but if you are exchanging £500 then it makes quite a difference.

I'm looking to be bringing £1000. That is part of the reason for asking besides not having exchanged money in Patts before. So a couple of extra Baht can make a difference even though £1K is not a fortune.

I appreciate the replies given :)
