  1. There are some places on the internet if you trawl long and hard enough where you can get help to make complaints to Jet Airways, thoughthey say they cannot help in this case.

LHR say there is nothing they can do.

Barclays bank say nothing doing on a refund as I have not been denied service.

I did find an e-mail addy after the one Jet Airways gave me failed. The one that works is info@jet airways.com Though you will not get this information on their 'contact us' section.

They wrote back and have asked me to get in touch to resolve the matter - their idea of get in touch is to telephone India. Sigh. That is my next move.

    I'll update when (if) I get a resolution :)

  2. It probably depends on the girls that meet them - they are likely to be different as they will be moving in different social circles....

You want to believe that women everywhere are obsessed with money. Not my experience, but you have obviously experienced something different.

I would suggest though that we are going off topic, so if you wish to reply it would probably be better to send me a PM.

i have no intention to enter a pm discussion with you smile.png

your ideas are laughable at best

i gave you a hypothetical situation and you avoided the issue presented

if 2 guys are EQUAL the one nearly all women will choose to build a nest with is the one whos financially stable and secure (thats comes from MONEY sherlock )

you can dance around the issue all day ,but i think my point has been clearly illustrated ..

women like security ,another word for that is money

Read my post and you will see that I answered your hypothetical question rolleyes.gif .

the question was not regarding your own personal experiences

i also have met many women who were already wealthy and hence had no interest in my money

in general ,most will choose a man who is financially secure over the same guy who isnt

No need for a bun fight, guys ;)

In reality there are women who want money at all costs and those who want love and understanding and care less for money. Not all are the same as each other.

  3. As far as I am aware catapaults are not illegal in Thailand. OK, maybe not exactly on a par with a gun for self defence but they can be very effective. Plenty of good excusues for having a catapault too.

Basic catapult are 20 bts on the market, I carry one on the bike for any over zealous dogs that fancy their chances. They are not strong though, held together with small rubber bands that will let you down.

Can people not make their own? We used to as kids and with some very powerful elastic with steel frames.

The reason I mentioned catapaults is because I have seen a few in use further north in Thailand and they were also quite powerful, certainly enough to cause a lot of pain.

But it is just an idea as opposed to having guns at home (something Brits do not tend to carry / have at home / use, unless you are a Gangsta or something smile.png

Maybe a good old rounders bat (baseball bat - for the Americans) would do the trick and leave a nice dent in someones head :P

  4. What should someone at 26 years old know about Thai woman and dating versus someone in their "retirement" years of life?

Most of the old guys seem to date women in your age.

In age terms the OP's girlfriend / wife has not been born yet, so cannot advise.

  5. Sounds like they are taking your confirmed reservation and allowing you to use it for travel as a stand by passenger now. I read your previous post and the duty manager at LHR waived the change fee because of your medical condition and will know allow travel on a stand by basis -that really doesn't really cut it. Stand by out of LHR is one issue, stand by out of India is another. You should have been informed your ticket would be stand by or given the option to pay a fee to use at a later date.

Did you call Reservations: 0808 101 1199 is that local or forwarded to India ? I'd ring them again and ask if they have a ticket office and what the local phone number is so you can get driving directions...... try to get a confirmed reservation by getting in touch with the duty manager. Do you have the name of the duty manager ? ask reservations how they format e-mails john.doe (at) jet or jdoe etc and send him an e-mail begging for mercy.

I looked for a cargo number but they are handled by Servisair thinking they could lead you to the duty manager.

If they say it is stand by- try to ask for the loads they wont give you exact load numbers, but what about your return trip ?

    Good luck-keep us posted.

    Thanks for that.

They would give me no more information other than to go to the duty desk on the day of flight even after I asked. No number or anything.

I have scanned the web for other numbers but there are none other than the one you have and no e-mail given either. A bit frustrating smile.png Yes, that number is through to a UK representative.

On reflection I do have another 2 ideas to try. One is to try and get hold of a supervisor on their main number or to maybe phone at the weekend. They did offer me a flight in 2 days time, so must have some method of booking me onto a flight.

No way do I want to go on stand-by here and in India. It could be a very long haul.

I'm not giving in too easily wink.png

Don't give in, You should have been told (not that you were in any shape with your attack & pain) that they would honour the ticket on a stand-by basis.

When you call reservations your PNR(Passenger Name Record) will have notes saying your ticket is now standby so I doubt there is much they can do, I still think the best is to contact the duty manager - do you have his/her name ? Airport operations are the folks that are empowered to make the decision not the rez kids.

Just has another thought - you mentioned they would let you fly in two days - ASK them what booking class (fare basis code) they are booking you in, expect to here something like Q V L M if that is the case it will be a confirmed booking - if you can look at your ticket eticket I assume there will ba a fare codebasis- something like QWE7BKK it is not your record locator but fare base, the first letter should match your booking class----let us know

i am glad I am not too easily annoyed ...

I phoned back to query their decision and also about standby or not. They have now told me I must pay £100 to change the flight and aslo £308 for the new flight.

    No customer services number.

No duty manager number or anything else except an e-mail address that bounces back from mailer as unrecognised.

I cannot discover what is against my original reservation because they keep fobbing me off, except they now say my flight was not cancelled due to a medical emergency, hence the amount of money they want to change the flight.

A third call has given me a new e-mail address that does not bounce back. Maybe that will get an answer though I am beginning to doubt it.

"Airport operations are the folks that are empowered to make the decision not the rez kids."

Are these at LHR itself and not with the airline company?

BTW... thanks for the help :)

  7. Hmm.

Having been prevented from flying out on the 6th due to appendicitis, I phoned Jet Airways this morning to arrange a new flight after going to the doctors surgery yesterday and being given the all clear to fly after the 19th of this month when the stitches can be removed.

Oddly enough I was offered a flight on Thursday 15th of this month until she realised what I had said about dates. Now she tells me I have to report to the duty officer at the check in desk on the day I want to fly. Upon informing her I would have to travel almost 300 miles to LHR and asking if I could either pre-book or have the number of the duty officer I was told I could not.

Would this be normal practice? It could be difficult if there are no flights available and I'd have to stay over in London.

There are no numbers listed for Jet airways LHR apart from the one I have, so I cannot contact another department. Or do I go and simply see what happens?

Anyone with experience in these matters who might have advice, please?

  8. They will let you get away with 10 * 50g pouches. smile.png

Be polite if they ask to look in your bags and admit as soon as they do ask how many you have. Mainly they are looking for drugs and weapons.

You are spot on, admit it as soon as they pull you over-and tell them it is for your own consumption or gifts, they get very upset if you don't admit it and make them work.

just to clarify going into the uk? and this will be ok via india (connecting flight)?

No problem unless you and your luggage are clearing customs in India. Presuming you are in transit, your luggage is checked through to the UK.

    I agree.

I entered the UK - again, in February, as I do annually - this time with 300 cigs and 14 * 50g pouches of tobacco. I was stopped as I always am (LOL).

I informed the customs lady what I had and that it was for myself. I was very polite about it. She checked for drugs and guns and such like, gave me a small lecture on too many ciggies. I was apologetic :)

She let me go with that warning.

After all, I am not exactly smuggling in carton after carton and they do have some leeway, obviously, unless you have the wrong attitude.

  9. Thailand works for some but not for others. You obviously find it does not work for you.

For me any country has it pitfalls and downsides as well as upsides. Thailand still rings my bells and until we have to leave, I am currently content.

Best of with finding your Utopia. Half the fun in life is in the searching :)

  10. There is an asian guy I know who brings in his bottle of Black Label to impress the ladies. He gets lots of attention and free gropes from these happy females all for the price if cheap whisky in an expensive bottle. The ladies do not know the difference because they always have the whisky with coke or some other mixer.

When the label on the bottle gets damaged too much he then goes out and buys another.

Not only bars that are at it ;)

  11. Ouch... I suffered a ruptured appendix last year and it cost 150K in Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (on Insurance).. The pain subsiding was probably a result of the appendix rupturing, I remember feeling better too, so much that I discharged myself from the Emergency Room after telling them that they are over-reacting by wanting to keep me in.. Of course 6 hours later I was back again with my tail between my legs..

But I can't imagine how much you would have suffered on that flight, if you had flown, especially not being comfortable in the seat. You are a lucky man.

I remember how much it hurts!! like you i had it the day before i was due to fly but in my case it did ease up until i had been in Thailand for over a week(had put it down to the curry the night before!).After waking up in agony was taken to a government hospital where i spent 4 memorable days .Was treated very well though and only cost 17K , have after found out it would have been around 70K in an International Hospital but like you counting my blessings it didn't happen on the flight.

The most certain way to know if you have appendicitis i,ve been told afterwards of course is to press on stomach and if have pain on release of pressure get yourself to the hospital.

Took me a few weeks to recover fully but should think it won't affect you flying too much, would be more concerned about the length of the queue at immigration .

Wish you a speedy recovery and enjoy your time here.

I do feel very lucky to have had it discovered before the flight itself. And, yes, it is dam_ed painful LOL.

Considering all the checks I had done here at the doctors before leaving the appendicitis came as an even bigger surprise. Even the paramedic and doctors were unsure of the diagnosis until they cut me open. I must be awkward not to have the right pains in the right area :P

Your posts show the vast difference in prices between 2 very different types of hospital.

I had keyhole surgery done and have been told to expect pain for 3-6 weeks depending. Obviously the older you get the longer it can take to recuperate. I do feel better by the day and am hoping I get the all clear on a date to fly after seeing the nurse at the local surgery today.

If there are no problems found I feel I can recuperate as well in Thailand as I can here. And I am really looking forward to coming back.

No joke topics please, it only hurts when I laugh :)
