  1. They will let you get away with 10 * 50g pouches. :)

Be polite if they ask to look in your bags and admit as soon as they do ask how many you have. Mainly they are looking for drugs and weapons.

  2. So now, through an act of kindness, he is not only out of pocket 5,000 baht, but he has lost a friend and is reluctant to return to his favourite massage place for fear of the other girls reactions!

    Some friend.

No, she was friendly, not a friend. Friends help each other out in different ways. We do not rip each other off and deceive each other.

5K Baht is not really a lot of money to lose to learn a lesson here. If he and others remember lessons like these they will be less prone to losing houses aand their lives - they are hefty prices to pay!

Time to move on along the learning curve of Thai life :)

  3. You are so lucky, hope you recover quickly and can make your trip. I've seen the paramedics at Heathrow in action and they are really really good.

As for jumping up-I never heard of that it is an awesome tip-thanks.

Thanks for that. I am already walking well and the pain is receding daily. With luck I'll be on a flight this next week, but that is now up to others to decide for me.

I am missing Thailand and all it has to offer.

  4. The staff at the desk, the security guard who stayed with me constantly and the paramedic at Heathrow who attended me were all brilliant. Everything was done for me, the arrangements with the airline cancellation, a room to wait in, the ambulance called, even down to the Filipino nurse at the hospital who took great care of me on arrival.

The hospital was a different matter altogether but I'll not go too deeply into that.

On Monday I see my local dorctor's nurse. She will assess my current situation and give me the information the hospital never did about my stitches (soluble or not) and how soon I can fly.

Medical insurance for me that covers most major events is a no-no and pretty much a waste of time. Travel insurance would not have given me much more than I got already except maybe travel home that I arranged myself.

To have had urine / blood and other tests done in the 4 weeks between my arrival back in the UK and before my flight flight all being passed, I was happy, as usual, to fly back to Thailand. I certainly would not have expected to develop such a painful illness as appendicitis in such a short time and with no prior warning but I am glad it happened when it did. Better on land than in the air.

But it just goes to show that you never really know what is waiting around that next corner in life.

Now I am missing 3 bits of my anatomy maybe I can get a reduction on future flights LOL.

  5. If I was with a woman whom I knew had been to any country with a high AIDS infection count I woulkd not be willing to sleep with her until I had very good reason to be sure she did not have AIDS herself especially if I knew she had been sleeping with locals.

Each of the women I have had in Thailand has voiced concerns about STD's and HIV before going to bed with me to have sex. The topic was discussed like adults. I did not take the hump because they used their brains and discussed the situation.

Get a life and a few more brain cells, OP.

  6. The current lady I am with takes scraps of food left over from dinner to feed to a stray near where she works. She really seems to feel for that dog.

I have visited a few temples where there are dozens and dozens of stray dogs too and they all seem to be given food.

That tells me that a lot of Thai people may feel sorry for these animals.

For me, I would put down ANY dog that attacks a human.

As for the rest of these stray dogs I'd consider putting down those that appear to be suffering but let those healthier ones live out their lives.

Oddly enough I see very little sign of dog sh*t on the streets even with so many dogs about. I think that is down to the Thai residents cleaning the streets outside of their homes.

So I voted not sure because there are not enough options for me.

  7. FN deal in UK/US sizes, left at the Suk from the Klang, and about a mile or so up the road

Could you please be more specific? What does FN stand for?

Oddly enough F.N. is Fly Now according to the signs at the side of the road when heading oop norf on the way to Chai Nat.

  8. Friend of mine stopped to help someone who was knocked off their moterbike and got accused of causing it.

That's great eh? It's not surprising anyway, being aware of how the locals behave, this just show coherence.

I will still stop if i see anyone in need, perfectly aware that very likely not even a simple "thank you" would be said, having done something good and the feeling that comes from it already is a reward.

If however somebody it's so dishonest and evil to do something like that, then an even greater effort should be made to make them feel on their skin that those act of cowardice can be even worse of whatever accident might have already happened to them.

There are already many mini-cameras on sale for car and motocy, they can act as a sort of "black box", unfortunately they are overpriced for what they do, but if you are good at diy, making something better and cheaper shouldn't be that hard, i am thinking about it from a while now...cool.png

You can buy mini spy cameras that will fit on your dashboard or helmet and record in high definition for under £30 ( 1500 Baht) on places like e-bay & Amazon. They come with a car charger too. The cameras are the size of a key fob. I bought one recently and they work very well.

For a review of these look here if the url is allowed

or go to Utube and look for

    No. 11 720p 808

If you used one of those when driving at the very least you could have fun viewing other drivers idiotic mistakes or maybe have proof of an accident.

    R.I.P to the Swede.

  9. My shopping for men's underwear at Central Department Store always becomes a short one since I like my "solitude" when I shop for clothes. I do not understand why, but in the underwear department, when you are looking for styles, and various brands, the shopper is not approached by ONE salesclerk, but ends up with 3-4 grinning women hovering around you. I realized they most likely are on a commission (or happy to see a potential customer) but it is a bit intimidating since I am simply looking at the cut/pattern/ material/ elastic band/price...of men's briefs; not examinging a new Porsche or the latest high tech laptop with various options. I don't get the same attention at Central Department store in Pattaya when I am looking at watches-mmm. ( I wish my understanding of Thai was better so I could understand their conversation while standing around me. --wait, maybe I don't-ha ha)

Are you sure that you are telling us the full story.

Maybe you should stop trying on the underwear in the middle of the store. !! Then they will not gather round "Grinning" rolleyes.gif

Or maybe they are wondering why you are buying XXL ladies panties in bright red ;)

  10. Am I the only one to find 'Scum' in the topic disturbing?

Am I the only one to find 'Scum' in the topic disturbing?

No, it's outrageous. What would he say about something serious? It's not right and quite embarrassing

    I'm not being belligerent, but...

Maybe he was just in a bad mood after a disappointing or unpleasantly surprising evening with his +1, but was too shy to complain about that directly. Though for the avoidance of doubt, he should then have started his post with "And another thing!"

    SC

Edit: That may be blindingly obvious, but apologies for blethering on oblivious.

It makes me wonder if he was not only ripped off by the TukTuk driver but was his +1 not what he thought as well? Maybe she turned out to be a he ;) Or maybe the he was not as he as he hoped he might be :P

  11. Down Pattaya Thai as you head down to the Temple near 2nd road there is the interior market on the left tucked in behind Pattaya Thai. They sell lots of clothes in there and I got some decent briefs in there. XXL for an XL pair. XL for L etc.

Though some other stalls the briefs did look smaller. Easy enough to try them against your shorts to see if they might be a reasonable fit.

As an aside I bought some CK boxers in Mikes shopping mall and they fell to bits in a few weeks. They were not cheap either. It definitely pays to inspect them thoroughly.

  12. I have to admit that Walking Street does have its obvious charms and delights but there is nothing much you get there that you cannot get cheaper elsewhere in the town.

It is one of those attractions like a fairground where you can walk and look or you can take the ride if you like ;)

I find it calmer and far cheaper to go round some of the other areas that offer similar wares.

Walking street tends to be 'in your face' and not so pleasant. It often gets too crowded and it is difficult to simply saunter along and look at some of the delights on offer without being jostled.

I sometimes wish there were areas here like the Red Light District in Amsterdam where the ladies sit in the windows.
