What the hell does that comment mean?

I guessed that much, just saying never heard that and asked where originated.

What is a power-shortcut? Never heard this term before. American, England or where from?

Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht
Dazinoz replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
Always amazes me that. People come in and drop the remote temp to low. I ask why and they say cools room quicker. I try to explain compressor is working at max so room will cool at a certain rate. Having said that inverter models can run at higher than normal maximum rate so can help cool faster. -

Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht

What a rip off. I am sure that would be illegal but nothing will happen in Thailand. Most appartments with individual room meters used to charge double or around 8 baht a little while back. I did read that "they", whoever "they" are changed rules to say that apartments condos, etc could only charge 20% more than MEA/PEA rate, but again this is Thailand. -
Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht

As per my previous post there are technicians and there are technicians. At my ex apartment their "professional" AC cleaning team said nothing in outdoor unit except fan. VERY professional. From personal experiences the condenser fins on the outdoor unit has been the main problem when AC performance dropped significantly. -
Ah, but what is the holy spirit? I used to prefer JW Black but now prefer Jack Danials.

Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht
Dazinoz replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
My ex lived in an apartment block. She had an AC in her room. On one visit she told me they had been going to the rooms with Acs and cleaning them. I asked had they done the outside unit. She didn't know. A little later we were heading out and one of the maintenance team was walking past. I asked my ex to ask the girl did they also clean the outdoor units. They chatted awhile in Thai and the maintenance girl walked off. I asked my ex what did she say. Answer was no need to as there is nothing but a fan in the outdoor unit. And this from the "AC maintenance team". TiT Having said that most of the threads on AC cleaning on here is most people put all the emphasis on cleaning the indoor unit filters and neglecting the outdoor. I did a video of me cleaning the condenser of the outdoor unit and posted previously but if someone would like to see why you need to clean outdoor unit I can repost. -

Do they have grid tie systems in Thailand? I had a system in Australia that didn't have batteries and didn't even consider them. For the 3 years before leaving I had no power bills and in fact received an $800 rebate on closing account. Admittedly I got paid by the electricity provider that I sent back to the grid. Grid tie systems with payment for what is sold back to grid work well for more than just the homeowner. Electricity traditionally comes from power stations. With housing estates getting further away from the sources it costs electricity suppliers more and more in larger longer supply runs, transformer, maintenance, etc. If households were encouraged to install solar via subsidised installations and being paid for what they sell back to the grid it can save on a lot of major infrastructure costs because your power you are putting back into the grid would most likely be used locally. You probably say that wont work at night without batteries and you are right but power consumption does go down at night. -

Importing a dog and how did they cope ?
Dazinoz replied to Chetzee's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
Would he have done that with kids if he had any? -
If you can find out where I live, no problem. Not going to destroy my life over a bit of cat pee. Stupid comment.

He is the one who has won, he now hopefully has peace. The lady in question will probably never really change and she will do it again. Probably has nothing better to do with her life. If you could read past the word "cat" and read the rest of the post you possibly could understand it wasn't all about the cat.

You have turned a story of crazy neighbour into blaming the OP because he has a cat. WOW just WOW.

Importing a dog and how did they cope ?
Dazinoz replied to Chetzee's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
I brought my dog from Australia. I had heard a few not so good stories so I decided to use a pet move agent in Australia. Expensive but I feel worth it. They visited where she was staying gave her rabies vaccination and checked her out. They picked her up the night before her flight (I was already in Thailand) and boarded her overnight. Next day took her to the airport and put her on a flight. She flew from Brisbane to Bangkok, but as arriving at 8pm too late to get her through to Chiang Mai so Australian agent used representative in Bangkok. They picked her up and boarded overnight and to airport in morning. She then flew to Chiang Mai where I personally picked her up. When the crate came out she looked dazed but soon as she saw me her tail started wagging and she got very excited. She was 4 years old at the time. She has now been here 10 years. The heat does affect her a little but probably less than me. She has an air-conditioned bedroom to sleep in at night. Vet fees are very reasonable here compared to Australia (not sure about England). A few years back she was diagnosed with CHF (congestive heart fail) with a leaking valve and an enlarged heart. She is on medication and I shudder to think how much all her treatments would have cost me in Australia. She is now over 14 and is still doing ok and I have no regrets about bringing here. -
I also I didn't get the reminder this month. Silly me trusting immigrations computer systems and now I am overdue. I did try online last Friday to see what would happen. It went through and I received the notification. Sunday I received rejection notification due to being late. I fully expected to get this I just curious as to see if It was detected by the online system. So off to immigration today to pay the 2000 fine. Then next date going onto paper calendar on fridge.

I have a relatively large APC unit that has 2 batteries. I did buy it second hand so got it reasonably cheap. I run 2 computers plus heaps of accessories including my my 49" TV and apple TV and sound bar. Been watching TV at night and happen to look outside and pitch black. Power has gone off by my stuff still running. Don't get too long with all the stuff running. I start shutting stuff down. UPS has a remaining time indicator and if time gets near the end I shut computer down. You can buy an extra battery pack unit that plugs directly into and gives you quite a long time.

Seen a generic brand - Mycoxafillin.

I have signed up with BitKub. I used my Australian passport and drivers licenses. I have not sold anything to THB yet. There security is very tight, nearly too tight. I also opened an account with coins.co.th and transferred some bitcoin to it and have converted to THB and transferred to my Thai bank several times with no issues.

I had been looking awhile here in Chiang Mai and ended up finding one at Rimping so not sure if Pattaya has a Rimping. The Rimping I did find it at had a great selection of alcohols but disappeared after the large shopping centre, Promenada it was in "temporarily" closed down.
