I'm prepared to go the agent route and pay to expedite an extension of stay as the much cheaper alternative, but how do I go about finding one?

Read my post above to see I had same issue as you. I phoned my agent and she actually said if they get denied I could try myself and they would prepare paperwork for me (at a fee of course). Thought I would have a better chance using the agent. But then again this is only one persons answer.

Yes what Ubonjoe said. Kasikorn, and I presume every other bank, can provide a statement tracing back the foreign origin of your funds. I believe Immigration accepts these statements from your Thai bank. It may cost 200 baht and you may have to wait two weeks. It is something I would talk to your bank about and then get such a statement in hand to test this before you absolutely need it. If you are going to go with the monthly income plan then you have to be vigilant monthly and have a tested plan to resolve deposit issues if your deposit shows up as a domestic transfer.

I have been using TransferWise and ok for the first 7 months. This month came through as SMT transfer. So I reverted to my old method from Commonwealth Bank in Australia. I always have sent in Australian dollars but for some reason this time I sent in THB and transfer came through as BTN. So I did 3rd transfer to send in Oz $s and came through as FTT. Then I signed up with DeeMoney and first 2 transfers sent back for next time. I contacted TransferWise and they said they have taken my recipient (me) for my payment to come to my Bangkok Bank account directly although they did say will not always work. If I have more issues I will just stick with Commonwealth Bank even though it costs a little more and not as good a rate as TransferWise.

  3. I used to live in Brisbane Australia which has one main runway so can take off/land either way due to prevailing winds. To "share" the noise around they would take various flight paths at various times. There is even a website that has the outputs of noise meters placed around Brisbane in the various flight paths. Obviously can't do too much about immediate take off/landing zones but just before landing and soon after takeoff flight path can be, and is often altered.

Could be doing that here but I doubt it.

Surely first you need to first to set a limit with BBL.

This to some extent protects you from massive continuous unauthorized withdrawals by scammers etc.

Is it not also true that the bank you choose to approach in Australia and use their ATM machine would also have policies to limit withdrawals and protect against problems and issues and investigations etc., when foreign cards are used in their machines?

Yes I now believe that I will have to organise a limit with BBL.

And yes Australian banks would set limits and hence my question on here. Maybe some one has done it previously and have an idea on limits.

When the news broke about the 'possible' insurance requirement for ex-pats, this idea was suggested by a poster on Thai Visa.

Is someone from the Ministry of Tourism & Sports reading Thai Visa in order to pick up a few tips. ????

Well according to a member who commented on a post of mine in another thread it is posts like mine that causes immigration to change the rules so I guess your statement is correct (according to him).

I thought 711 only accept the latest bill and not previous-months bills.

Anyway, if you don't mind the extra charge or 10 baht, you can ask for an auto-debit from the main office and your bank. They will deduct for you automatically.

Save the hassle. I think 711 charge 5 baht but then there's the petrol cost.

Come to think of it I did goto 711 one time late and they would not accept the payment so I assume the same would happen with the old bill.

Normally bill payment is ok but did not arrived this month and was trying to avoid trip to main office but if I have to go there to pay I will set up auto debit.

Does the app give you a bill with a barcode?  If yes, can get it scanned on your phone screen by the cashier at 7-11 etc.  Works for my dtac bill.

There is no app for PWA only PEA.

But old paper bill has barcode so I will try that at 711.

  8. Last month I did not receive my paper PEA bill but have the app so knew how much I owed and payed via the app.

Now I have not received my PWA paper bill. Had a look at their website and, great, has English language selection. Selected pay account which takes me to an all Thai language page. Very clever.

Does anyone know how I can pay without having to goto the main office? I have last months bill. Can I take old bill to 711 and pay? They may charge last months bill which was higher than normal as the float valve on the tank failed and was overflowing. Not really worried about paying the extra just want to save a trip to the main office.

BTW, i did measure my indoor FCU coil and outdoor condenser coil.  The external coil is around 2.5 to 3X the size of the indoor coil  (L x W x depth of the coils)....so in terms of heat exchanging performance, the external coil can stand up to more dirt and grime vs the indoor coil, and besides you also need to contend with indoor air quality with regards to the indoor coil, which is of zero issue with the outdoor coil.

I really don't think measuring the coils would give you an accurate indication of heat exchange as there are other variables such as fin surface area, tubing diameter, etc. You would have to look at the manufacturer's rating of each coil. From what I have read it seems like the condenser rating is around 20 to 25% bigger in actual heat transfer rating.

As well as taking heat from the inside some heat is produced during the compression of the refrigerant which needs to be dissipated.

Similar available at a Tesco or BigC near you. Cheaper if you happen to pass an AC supplies shop.

For outside Windex is OK and a simple garden hose pipe.

Tried that one or a similar from Big C on indoor unit. Not very successful. Doubt it would have much affect on dirty outdoor unit.

I would shut the power off at the main or wear flip flops before doing this...

Yes the power was off (electrical background). But I did not do a detailed post on how to do it I did the post to show that it needs doing.

But I should have added to be done by experienced person.
