Dating with Dan. Help the Goat find a Good Thai Woman
smutcakes replied to Goat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Possibly is, there are a lot of weird socially inept/oddballs men around that will pay good money to try and get their leg over.... Look no further than the OP. -
They own 100%? Why would they not? Why would they need to give Thais 51% of their business? AWS have invested here, Google have already announced they are investing, Microsoft typically follow AWS. Yeah there is paperwork, but they are big companies with big resources so a bit of paperwork is not going to put them off... thats why they pay lawyers.

He is speaking about business, not retirees. What about granting land ownership to foreign investors ...? Foreign investors can own land 100% freehold inside designated Industrial zones where most investors want to locate. Other sectors outside industrial can be affected more, but many large corporate can live with 30 year leases- in fact many of them dont want to tie up their capital in land and buildings. Most of the big hotels dont own the land either nor do they really want to. They just operate the hotels. What about easing the overstay rules ? Its completely irrelevant to what he is talking about for business. Thailand is not a liberal country with a functioning democratic system . Too many coups as well to be confident in investing here ...? Coups is an issue, but underneath the top fighting things plod along in most sectors regardless of who is in power. None of the bickering political factions want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. He just wants to paint a picture of Thailand that is not ( yet ) true .

Really for the large multiationals like Microsoft and Google its not really that risky for them.. they dont need to JV, they can own their own land etc. Beauracratic yes but not to bad and far worse than other countries they operate in. They have the teams, resources and power to work through them comfortably. Dont know why he is trying to take credit though... Microsoft have been looking to set up a data center here for a couple of years, Google announced 6 months back that they were setting up a Cloud region here and Tesla as a matter of course like all China based Auto manufacturers have been looking at options outside of China so of course Thailand would be high on the options list.

Please tell me there is no one THAT sad?

No need to get bent out of shape. I was just giving my opinion from going through the process. If you found the process easy and comfortable, bully for you. Detail of individual parts fade, but i remember having numerous submissions at Chaengwattana, organizing documents from police in home country, having to get it translated in home country then getting that notarized by Thai Embassy in home country, then in Thailand, all other docs need to be translated, notarized etc etc Maybe my memory is mixing Citizenship application with PR application but i forever seemed to be signing documents in Thai, which someone needed to prepare. Anyway, you think its easy, i thought it was a pain in the ass and was very happy to pay for someone to organize everything for me and just tell me to be somewhere when and where and what to sign.

Contrary to what others say, i would highly recommend using an agent of some type, personally i used a large well known accounting consultancy. And i can only speak for myself, but there is not a chance in hell i would do the process myself.. it was a complete and utter ball ache from start to finish even for the consultant... The paperwork is just endless, i cannot imagine anyone doing it themselves unless they literally have endless time on their hands, endless patience and an endlessly patient wife/partner to help them. I have my PR and i have applied for the citizenship and got my queue number. I used the same consultant to do it. The Consultant said they are never going to bother doing it again as its just to much time and hassle for relatively small fee. Perhaps as i am doing the route with work permit and i am not officially married so am technically single male there was more document than those who do the marriage route.

My wife and daughter both know my ATM pin numbers and sometimes go get money for me if i am to lazy to go myself- they also have credit cards connected to my bank accounts. I trust them and they will have access to them until/if they do something stupid. I never leave an amount in those accounts which i could not lose and be anything more than annoyed about- again not really because i dont trust them, but more because there is no point having a lot of money sitting in a current account earning nearly zero interest. I dont think if i was the OP i would put something like that 800K for that use in a simple account with an ATM though. Not because of the trust issue, purely as it should be ring fenced and not touched, so not necessary to have a card or atm knocking around with it. I kind of agree with Bill in this thread...i trust my wife and if you cannot trust her then who can you trust. Not sure its worth chucking away 27 years of marriage over, especially if it was just a one time lack of judgement and she did not really understand the full implications of it.

Technically it was long leased... but much the same.

It was hardly his personal idea...... I am sure the new Senators will be exactly the same, and i am sure they will find a way to allow them to vote again. Either that or they simply wont bother with elections again.

I am PR and it seens to make no difference although i have not really enquired to much. I did make a half hearted approach to get a mortgage the other day and the banks said no can do. I mentioned i was PR as others have told me its made a difference for them, but the bank did not care... it was all a bit half hearted on my behalf though and i did not really put much effort in tl do it. However my citizenship application is now been submitted to the MOI with 43 others...

Rumours Over Bhumjaithai Being Brought Into Coalition Govt Dismissed
smutcakes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
MF should not go anywhere near the Bhumjumthai... The Chidchob clan are an ongoing disgusting stain on Thailand... They are the worst of the worst. Better for them to sit in opposition than try and have the BJT in their coalition. Dont think Anutin would go for it anyway. He is desperate to be PM and joining the coalition to help MF would spell doom for him ever becoming PM. -
If Thaksin has intention to ever return to Thailand then having PTP joining a MF coalition willl rule it out forever. PTP have no intention of joining MF coaiition but because they did not win the election they need to pretend they do. The plan was always to form a coalition with Prawit and Bhumjumthai... I think they are waiting for something to happen to give them the excuse to leave MF and form another coalition. I think maybe there is some infighting inside PTP with perhaps the younger generation wanting to go with MF, and understanding if they back out then they will be killing their election chances going forward- whereas the old corrupt dinosaurs who up to a few months ago were in PPRP. One way or another i agree with you, but personally i think Anutin will be given the PM seat. MF is far far more troublesome for the powers than Thaksin. Thaksin is always ready for a deal and at the end of the day he is one of them.

Dont see why its a shock or difficult to understand why he wants to come home.... He is Thai, all his family are Thai and living in Thailand... I am sure like any parent he loves his family and wants to be around them, and no doubt he will become more acutely aware of this as he ages.... Sure he might like to get involved in other stuff... but i dont think its to much of a stretch to simply say that he misses being in Thailand and around his family..

When he became an MP he decalerd the shares with the NACC as required under law, and due to them being part of an ongoing lawsuit and heritage from an inheritance they had no issue 2with it. No obviisuly the EC will have a different view. Edit to say: but agree it was a stupid risk to take if he could of changed anything.

SAIC Motor Starts Construction of New Industrial Park in Thailand
smutcakes replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
75 rai is pretty small for Industrial plot on the EEC never mind calling it an Industrial park.... Industrial Parks/Estates are places like WHA, AMATA,Rojana which are 4,000-10,000 rai which is where companies like SAIC buy their land. I expect the 75 rai land plot is not really an 'industrial park' its simply land which they already bought with the 437.5 rai which they are just expanding into adjacent to their current facility. -
SAIC Motor Starts Construction of New Industrial Park in Thailand

Would hardly call 120,000 sqm an Industrial Park... more like a single property.... -
If the lady was very pretty and/or had a good body/nice boobs and he was very small & extremely drunk/could barely walk i might try and impress the bird if there was the off chance i could cop a feel afterwards. (with her permission) Otherwise hell no, nothing to do with me.
