What the hell do you think they are after??? If they wanted a boyfriend who they found sexy and wanted to be with they would not be talking to some old duffer on a crappy dating website. Of course most of them are atm chasers... thats why they are there, and 95% of them are the same. Its a lot of desperate Thai women (and men) looking for some easy money by sleeping with a farang. They will grin and bare it, some more than others, but its not exactly something most enjoy and they certainly would not be doing it with some old farang if they did not need/want the money. Just remember they are not shagging you because they find you in anyway attractive... they are shagging you because you are paying them... if you dont pay them they will not <deleted> you...

Passport needed for travel around Thailand?
smutcakes replied to ChomDo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Maybe the hotels separate those on holiday from abroad who do TM 30 (genuine tourists), and those who are residents in Thailand. I have of course not stayed in all hotels and stayed in some middle of the range hotels to and none have requested it. I count Centara's, Intercontinental and Anantaras in the past 6 months and none of those have needed passports. -
Passport needed for travel around Thailand?

If i was going for a month i would probably take it, purely in the case of an emergency and needed to fly out the country quickly. In terms of needing it for nonsense like TM30, no one is doing that, i doubt any hotel is doing that.... I normally just use drivers license and never had a hotel even blink. You dont need a passport to check into hotels and never had a hotel even question it. -
You get the feeling that the powers that be would probably prefer Pheu Thai to win than a party like Move Forward. At least they know with Pheu Thai that okay they will lose money making opps for a few years, that Pheu Thai are not going to change anything major and actually stop corruption or the channels it is made, so they can rest easy about that. If the MF or another unknown came to power, that is when it would get really alarming as they just would not know whether they would also be endlessly corrupt or would make genuine attempts to reform army/police/bureaucracy which at the end of the day is what simply will not be accepted.

Former national police chief Chakthip to face corruption charges
smutcakes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Have they really cleared any out of immigration? Or are they allegedly under investigation? Which will take 20 years all the while they will either be continuing to work or being fully paid on suspension- no one really knows if anything has happened to any of them? And considering its all gone completely quiet, has the case been negotiated and the carpet being lifted already? All of them knew about the triads, you really think these powerful Army generals come MP's, police whose whole job it is, is to run rackets were not all fully aware of this network for years.... Anyway hope you are right, maybe i am to pessimistic. -
Former national police chief Chakthip to face corruption charges
smutcakes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Laughable, its all political posturing and maneuvering behind the scenes- the only good thing to come of the fighting is that a few red faces and a little bit of PR battle. None of these cases will go anywhere and when those pulling the strings behind Chuvit/Joke have got the deal they want it will all quietly fade away again and everything will be as normal. -
What you look for in a massage ?
smutcakes replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Have been here 15 years and only ever had 2 massages, both uninspiring and not for me... #interestingfact -
With all of these investigations/suspensions etc none of them ever seem to finish... they just seem to hit the news and then just disappear and nothing ever happens. A few months quiet time in an inactive post, shifted to a new province and its all done and dusted. There hardly ever seems to be cases which get completed and any type of punishment meted out. Of course this is because those 'investigating' are for the most part as bent as the ones they are investigating.

MP Investigated for Gambling in Parliament Building
smutcakes replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What it means is they will assess who the other 3 are and see if it is politically expedient to go after them now or hold the evidence in the back pocket to save for a rainy day. -
If you sign a lease for 2 years and leave after 6 months, unless there was a break clause you would be on the hook legally for the remaining 18 months, not just despot forfeiture. Whether the landlord would bother chasing and pursuing it is another matter. If this was not the case, no landlord would have any point giving any discount if the tenant could just leave, and may as well keep the lease month to month with no discount.

Am fairly surprised by this. I am generally a fairly generous guy and dont have money concerns, but in all of my 4 decades or so on the planet staying in hotels, i have not once ever left a tip for the cleaners. In fact it had never even crossed my mind... restaurants, bars, concierge in hotels etc yes without even thinking about it... but hotel cleaning staff... never. I am going to consider this when leaving my room in Hua Hin at the weekend.

Chuwit claims "brothel" owned by well known businessman set to reopen
smutcakes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Presumably he is referring to Kampol Wirathepsuporn who he sold Victoria secret to. This is the same Kampol who loaned 300 million THB to the old Police Chief Somyot who now heads up the Thai FA. ... No issue there.... -
Do you carry your passport with you?
smutcakes replied to Hummin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Do cops have any knowledge or jurisdiction at all for Visa status? Is that not immigration? I cannot even imagine a scenario where you are walking down the road and police would stop you and ask for your visa status.... lol -
Screw doing it myself... I just use a good agent and give them sole agency to do it... They can handle sub agents if they want but i only deal with my agent who i know and trust. I have no real interest in meeting the tenant, just want to know their profession and who they work for. Agent handles everything including requests from the tenant in the tenancy..

smutcakes replied to Hummin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Fair enough... I could not imagine living somewhere where i did not even feel safe leaving my passport. Mines in my underpant draw and the thought of someone stealing it has never even crossed my mind. Its just a complete non issue for me. I suppose if you live in the middle of nowhere or a house the chance of burglary is higher, but still if someone wants my passport that much they can have it.. I would say i am the complete opposite of you. I would always be uptight if i was carrying with me all the time, leaving it at home and dont give it a 2nd thought. ever. -
Was this drastic action to rein in the police not what Prayuth and Prawit used as one of their justifications for a coup 9 years ago?

What type of gimp carry their passport with them... your chance of being stopped and asked for a passport are about a millon times less than the chance of losing it. Even if on the tiny chance the police stopped you and just had to see your passport i am sure you can think of something to settle the situation on the miniscule chance of it happening once every 20 years. If you walk around in a permanent state of panic of the police just take a photo copy.. presumably most have a drivers licence on them anyway.
