Unfortunately, Lenovo's are notorious for pre-installed bloatware that is as difficult to remove as a fish hook in your finger. I've had 2, a P780 and a A936 that, though I liked the phones themselves, I finally gave up on. I tried deleting everything possible; apps, old messages, photos, ect down to the bones. I did re-sets and re-sets of re-sets. Both had root access so I tried "Titanium Backup". Ultimately, any joy initially achieved soon faded as the old garbage reemerged like cockroaches out of walls.
I did find CleanMaster to be temporarily useful. I would always uninstall it after use because it's a memory hog itself.
Rooting and roming requires a strong understanding of tech jargon and process and mistakes can sometimes be irreversible. Not in my skillset. Both phones are now in the desk drawer.

Actually, Doogee phones are an excellent value, nonwithstanding the clumsy name. Don't forget, Samsung once sounded silly also.
Be careful of some of the Xiaomi models being sold inexpensively online such as the Redmi Note 2 which I have. It's a great phone and I like mine but the FDD-LTE only operates on one band here...it is basically set for the Chinese market. You can not use 2 data SIMs simultaneously. I believe the new Redmi Note 3 may be an exception but there are different models of the Redmi Note 3 with different 4G configurations that aren't always clear in the specs offered by retailers. Sometimes one model is sold at the "Redmi -3 Lite" for about $20 additional. That is the model with the more comprehensive 4g.

Since this is your banking, I'd take the time to go to a DTAC office and find out for sure what you need to do.

The Umi Rome looks good at first sight but a few weaknesses when you dig into the specs.
Battery: 2500 mAh, That's low for pushing a 5.5" 720p display and an octa core processor.
The Mali 400 processor is OK but it's 3 year old technology and not that battery efficient, even though they claim it is.
FDD LTE is listed as 800, 1800 & 2600. Doesn't Thailand use 2100?
I agree that The Umi is the lowest priced phone available with 3gb RAM and it looks pretty good

I just spent some time in Chumphon and was impressed by how clean and uncrowded the beaches were. Scenery was very interesting with tall, limestone karsts around the shore and many small fishing villages here and there.
Many lodging options; hotels and resorts along with a number of home-stay operations.

There have been previous threads about this. The consensus was that skiing in Japan was very expensive and that Korea was a much more economical alternative.
Hell, you can even go to the big ski resort the North Koreans just opened...probably very safe as you would have a dozen police following you down the trails.

There are also some card "Boutiques" with unique and unusual, sometimes handmade cards at Terminal 21 on the 3rd and 4th levels. Wander the small aisles.

Really cheap rooms can be rented for 300 baht per night. Even with air-con .
Not bad at all for 300 a night, has everything except a window. Mind you 300 x 30 = 9000 a month should get you a decent place but over budget for the OP.
In Pattaya, windowless rooms can be an advantage as long as there is ventilation of some sort. Pattaya is one of the most incessantly noisy places on the planet and no window means far less outside noise...easier to sleep late into the morning as well without the sunlight streaming in.
I've had a favorite on Soi Diana for years...and one more good thing about it....it's almost always available.

Sad days for the San Francisco music scene of the 60's after the passing of Paul Kantner and Signe Anderson of Jefferson Airplane just a few days ago.
Dan Hicks was a member of the Charlatans together with Mike Wilhelm and others prior to forming the Hot Licks. I never saw Dan performing, but once saw Wilhelm fronting a trio called 'Loose Gravel' in a small bar in North Beach, S.F. in 1976.
Good memories.
Also interesting was that one of the "Hot Licks" original members was David Laflamme who went on to found with others the amazing group "It's a Beautiful Day", one of San Francisco's most original and creative bands

Not a bad room, actually. I had a similarly sized and furnished room in Hong Kong last year that was a bargain at US$80.
I once took a bus from Nong Khai to Pattaya, arriving at 4am...I was to meet a friend at noon and go on to Koh Samet. I just wanted a room to crash for a few hours and saw a sign on Soi Chaiyaphum, "Room B160" "How bad could it be?" I thought.
Bad! Very, very bad.
Sink broken and hanging half off the wall, no seat on a toilet that was black inside, broken tile floor with enough dirt on it to grow potatoes, single bed with a ratty foam pad over an open spring.
I was really tired...didn't take my shoes off when I lay down. Tired as I was, sleep wasn't going to happen.
I now realized it was a short time joint...for ladyboys and a nearby gay bar. Young Thai punks yelling in the hall and knocking on my door..."You wan blow job/"..."You got cig-ret?" Finally bailed out an hour or so later.
The last time I was on Chiayaphum, it was still there...now B200...No stars for Trip Advisor.

Many of you probably didn't know of "Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks" though some of you will. He came up in San Francisco in the magical late '60's when the psychedelic rock of Jefferson Airplane and Grateful Dead ruled. Dan's music was very different; incorporating Country, Jazz, R&B and Swing...among others. He never became a monster act but was deeply respected by other musicians and appreciated by many. He died yesterday in California. He was 75
The first time I heard his "I scare Myself" it affected me deeply and stayed with me since. It became his best known number. Some of you Thomas Dolby fans will be more familiar with the cover of it Dolby did in The '80's. Hick's songs are usually light and playful but "I Scare Myself" is a darker, much more inward piece.
This is the original " I Scare Myself"Thomas Dolby covered it in the '80's and did a great job, putting an amazing spin on it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc2rPDMnN7wThis is Dan Hicks and Thomas Dolby playing together live...includes a really funny interview beforehand. The opening of "I Scare Myself" is amazing. When the song finishes, let it run...you will be rewarded. Dolby himself posted this video from his private collection yesterday as a tribute to Hicks. -

HMMMMM! am i the first person to think this?
Not being funny but he had problems at work and was attacked, it would not take very much to send some people around and knock on the neighbours door, and insist the neigbour sticks to this story or else,
Very easy to find some nasty heavies around soi cowboy entrance that will deal with any of your revenge issues. especially if you are an unhinged bar worker that has a grudge against a foreigner...
Ofcourse it could also be a strange accident but in Thailand i always consider the worse...
Why don't you channel your morbid imagination and write a crime novel or screenplay

"ShavedPotters" post #57 mirrors what other close friends and associates of Darel have been saying for the last several months. He did have a lot of friends and a lot of them tried every way they knew to help him out of his downward spiral but he was apparently in a personal space that defied help.
And for those of you who get their smug little chuckles from the tragedy's of others, a dog will piss on your grave someday.

Usually you register via a smartphone and a desktop app is extra for those who have an account. Line is good but it's stickers are crap, I only use 2 sets of Garfield stickers. Viber has lot's of cool stickers.
IMHO, Viber is the best of the plethora of messaging apps now out there. A lot of users in the Philippines but not Thailand. Calls are always clear with no drop outs (possibly due to relatively low usage) and easy to seamlessly go from phone to PC, even in the middle of a conversation.
I wish more in Thailand would catch on to it.

If you mean Tuesday, the 9th, traffic should be lighter than normal anyway because of Chinese New Year.

It's not unusual for 4 & five story, walk-up guest houses to rent the top floor rooms for very low monthly rates. Most regular guests don't want to climb 4 flights of stairs every time they go in or out. Usually fan only, shared bath.
Stayed in a GH once that rented to a bunch of LB's on the top floor...sounded like a knitting factory as they went up and down the stairs in their high heels.

One of the reasons high quality, freshly butchered beef is so difficult to find is that Thailand does not allow the import of beef carcasses, only pre butchered boxed beef. Thar is why it is so difficult to find items like beef ribs. Certain cuts with bone in are allowed.

Seems Apple has decided that it's OK for them to brick your device should dare use outside repair services.

Line is free. On a smartphone, they text a validation code to your phone.

During current high season, Soi Buakhow/Soi Lenkee/Soi Diana area B700 on up. Look at Booking.com If you want a more upscale room, look LK Renaissance or LK Metropole or Acera Lodge.
For B1500 to B2000, you can get closer to the beach.

I used to have hair.
Then I cut True and got Kodi.
Now, I have no hair....but I'm reading a lot more books.
Seriously, steep learning curve.

Rent, don't buy.
Long term appreciation is quite unlikely.

Also you check out these ASUS phones on Lazada...excellent phones, prices much lower than retail stores.
Thanks for all the links.
I like the Wiko Lenny 2 for 2,490. The boy is asking for a Samsung J7 but that is 8K - a big difference. I'm sure the Wiko will do everything he wants.
If he is into games, 1Gig of ram will not cut it. He will be very disappointed.
Most "Action" games will play OK as long as he makes sure that no apps are running in the background and regularly cleans out junk files using something like "CLEANMASTER" I do agree that high level games with 3D graphics would not run as well on 1 gb ram.
Keeping LINE messages when changing phones
in Mobile Devices and Apps
Posted · Edited by dddave
I just went thru the same thing. If you Google Line, "forwarding messages to new phone" you will get pages from Line that explain what is a tedious, mega-multi step process...for each and every conversation.
Basically, you have to export each conversation to a memory card, then import each and every conversation from the memory card. There is no way to forward all your conversations in one operation that I could find.
I finally gave up. I forwarded the few entries I had to save to an email account. Just wasn't worth the effort.
