Yeah ManU have decided to go down the Moyes route again with Poch and recruit a manager whose won nowt ????

All paper talk, I will put this out as what I want Zidane and Cantona as a joint management team, Zidane mainly to show Cantona the ropes then leave if or when he wants

Poch would be better off staying at Spurs the step up to United is huge and I am not saying that in a bad way, I mean pressure wise and the constant media attention being manager at United.

Seeing as nev has been depositing some news articles on our thread lately. Thought I'd reciprocate.

    Interesting stats:-  https://www.football365.com/news/man-united-and-jose-mourinho-the-ridiculous-statistics?fbclid=IwAR0jkhAmyYQQLjjM--6wFQFnbTvj3Kn_o3ghcLAgkXAP_nj69uGWE-h6hGw

Sunday’s defeat was the first time in 123 matches that United ‘lost’ in both the first and second halves of the same game. The last time that happened was in the 4-0 defeat to Chelsea in October 2016.

    * This is the lowest Manchester United have ever been after 12 games of a Premier League season (also 8th in 2004/05). They are 12 points off the top of the table; only once have they been further behind the leaders after 12 games (13 points in 2014/15).

    * United have a negative goal difference (-1) after the first 12 games of a top-flight season for the first time since 1977/78 (-1).

    * United have lost at least four of their first 12 games of a top-flight season for the first time since 1990/91.

    * Fulham (0) are the only club to keep fewer clean sheets than United (1) this season. Cardiff and Huddersfield (both 2) have more.

    * Joe Hart (54), Lukasz Fabianski (49) and Mat Ryan (46) are the only keepers to have made more saves than David de Gea (42) in the Premier League this season.

    * United have conceded as many shots in the Premier League this season as Huddersfield (154).

    * United have scored fewer open play goals in the Premier League this season (12) than Watford (13).

    * Romelu Lukaku (10) is the only player to reach double figures for goals in the Premier League for United in 2018 (29 games). Anthony Martial (9), Paul Pogba (6) and Marcus Rashford (5) are the only other players to score more than Chris Smalling (4) since January began. The best-paid player in England’s top flight – Alexis Sanchez – is one goal behind him.

    * Mourinho has now lost 18.97% of his 137 games at Manchester United. This is the third biggest loss percentage of his entire career, with only his second spell at Chelsea (19.85%) and his 20-game stint with União de Leiria (20%) ranking worse. The only other time Mourinho has lost more than 14% of his games at any one club was during his first foray into management with Benfica (18.1%) in 2000. He then rarely lost with Porto (11.8%), Chelsea (11.3%), Inter Milan (13.8%) and Real Madrid (12.3%) His four worst tenures in management in terms of loss percentage have therefore been in his first two and last two jobs, with his four best all coming in between. So Mourinho’s managerial career can now statistically be considered an inverted poo sandwich: a delicious filling wedged between two slices of fecal matter either side.

    * Mourinho has lost 26 of his 137 United games. He has only lost more games during a single managerial spell once (27 losses in second Chelsea tenure).

    * Liverpool have spent longer at the top of the Premier League table (50 days) than United (45 days) since Mourinho’s appointment in summer 2016.

    * Fifty-nine Premier League hat-tricks have been scored since Manchester United’s most recent (Robin van Persie, April 2013). Eighteen different Premier League clubs – including Aston Villa, Burnley, QPR, Stoke and Sunderland – have scored one since United last did.

Good lot of stats that, Shows how bad we are and I hope the gimps read this and invest.

Agreed, and utilizing players out of their chosen position really shouldn't be an agenda for one of the biggest, wealthiest (in terms of rev) clubs in the world.

It's a joke Young was target early on and many time they got round the back of him same happens when Valencia plays, Proper fullback is needed.

It's Glazieromics in process extend contracts for ageing players rather than splash 70mil on what is really needed back there, Mcquire wanted by Mourinio told be happy with what you have <deleted>.

Looks like a major rehaul is needed

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/nov/12/manchester-united-transfer-market-jose-mourinho

    Defence

    Ins A right and left-back, two centre-backs

Outs Smalling, Valencia, Young, Jones, Darmian, Rojo

    Midfield

    Ins A central midfielder

    Outs Herrera, McTominay

    Attack

Mourinho’s need here is two-fold: a game-breaker with serious pace and a finisher.

Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are merely squad players.

    Ins An elite-level finisher and a game-changer

    Outs Rashford (loan), Sánchez

Pretty well same as what I answered, it will take two years or more but it is needed.

I make you 100% right on all that.  I'd still throw in a new manager though.  This situation doesn't need a "today" manager it needs one who builds, a two-year process in the making but a very sound nucleus for anyone to start with.

Talk in the papers today Young and Valencia getting one year extension's, They are both winger's playing at fullback if they are not good enough as winger's let them go and get a proper right back in to go with Dalot.

Nev, out of the ManU squad who would you get rid of (or keep; whichever is easier for you)?

Mate that's a hard one, I will go keep Degea  Dalot Lindelof Shaw Pogba Mata Martial Rashford, The rest are replaceable and many on big wages are not United standard.

Valencia and Young was bought as winger's and have been playing as fullbacks no wonder they get targeted in games, Dalot should be in now not later he is a top prospect.

I have mentioned 8 players but either Martial or Rashford on the left and as you can see that four are needed to strengthen our starting 11, A commanding center back a midfield enforcer a right sided winger and a top Striker.

That leaves a lot who in my opinion need to be cleared out, Now that is a huge task with the big wages they are on.

Then went for a whole year of dancing every week in 2014. ????

Bob maybe one of these venues mentioned, This is from a mates timeline on Facebook he is a big northern soul fan.

Yes, I went to Banks Lane juniors before Mile End seniors...

I was back in UK earlier this year and went for a stroll round there with my Mum (she lives in Poynton now - dead posh!). Wow...it’s all changed round there, all built up estates near the school on Banks Lane side. My other remnants of family are Worsley/Walkden area now.

When we first moved, my mum was a barmaid in the Gardner’s arms, in the 70’s, until she started working as a designer/type setter on the A6. My dad and grandad were both season ticket holders at OT, both passed on now, and I’d always go to the home games when there was a spare spot with their group. Great times. I left there at 16 and joined the Forces for 7 years, and have been in Thailand since I was 27 - 44 now...

    You’ve got me reminiscing now!

Promise, I wasn’t nicking anyone’s dinner money either!

Your mum would have served me a pint that was my local pub in the 70's, My dad has moved on to Timperley now dead posh there too, My brother lived poyton still has his house there and rents it out and lives with his girlfriend in Marple now.

Gee you moved here young not had much chance of a normal life 5555.

Nev, I was born in Salford. Mum and Dad both from Salford, but when my dad changed jobs, when I was younger, we had to move to Offerton (Banks Lane) and then Mile End (near the old Davenport).

"he was brought in as an improvement I know this cos the Man City fans have been banging on about that for well over a year now". Really? Show us where we have been banging on for well over a year that Mahrez is an improvement cause I don't think we have. Improvement on whom/what? He's now certainly beginning to prove very useful after a poor start to his City career. Mahrez was bought because Pep fancies him; at the time he was bought we would have preferred a Fernandinho future replacement, not another wide forward.

We didn't "spend 60m quid and huge wages to have Mahrez on the bench just in case someone gets injured". I know it's early for you, probably a foggy head, but I've already posted today Mr Bj's excellent summation of Mahrez being part of our squad who like most players will play but not every game (though I believe he's played in the most games this season). So your statement is wrong but no doubt you will keep posting it even though the facts prove you wrong.

Over to you Ronnie to show us where Man City fans have been banging on about that.

Take a deep breath and give it a rest mate, This us the man utd thread and we are very civilized on here it's a nice day go play outside.

Looks a good team selection by Mourinho tonight.

You'll have a tough time though if Ronaldo is on form as we discovered against Messi the other week.

    Best of luck!

Cheers mate and totally agree about the team selection more balanced without the lump up top, And we got there in the end rode our luck at times but a great battling performance and after Ronnie's cracking goal I thought well that's it, but we have that fighting spirit back and we put to bed all the talk of not playing for the boss.

Mata is a fantastic player and when he stepped up for the freekick I thought it will take a good save to keep it out sure enough keeper was well beaten, As for the winner very scrappy but they all count, Special mention for Martial he was brilliant.
