Thai AirAsia opposes airfare reductions due to operational costs
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I find the prices quite reasonable. Compared to what I pay in Australia they are as cheap as chips. A taxi or Uber to the airport is equivalent to 2000-3000 baht which is way more than the cost of any flight in Thailand. -
Why is there so much trash on the grass verges in Hua Hin
Zack61 replied to ThaiPauly's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
It doesn’t help when the only rubbish bins are in front of the local 7/11. This is a problem throughout Asia and most of the world. My worst experience, going back a few years now, was on the highway between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. There was an endless river of plastic either side of the road which I would guess to be metres deep in places -
British lookalikes forge unlikely friendship on flight to Thailand
Zack61 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I for one have never met anyone with whom I share the same name so I see this as one of those feel good, if not quite rare, experiences. -
Swiss man who allegedly assaulted Thai doctor faces additional charges
Zack61 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Perhaps a little jail time up front as an extra deterrent to him if he is in any way considering a clandestine return. First class? A definite no. Perhaps the seat right at the back in front of the toilet with no seat reclining option. -

Perhaps some action to address the actions of his wife. She was almost as complicit in the crime as was her husband. This would demonstrate that the punishment was equally distributed and not just on the basis of race or nationality -

This guy is going to be deported or be milked for everything they can get their hands on. I’m hoping for both. Whatever happens, a change of address is on the cards.

I believe it is true. I saw something about it recently on a YouTube story. Most likely only enforced if the Netizens push it on an online forum demanding action from the police.

Swiss Expat Charged with Bodily and Mind Harm in Phuket Kicking Incident
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
He had his chance early on when he declined to offer an apology and, instead, said he would accept the doctor’s apology. Arrogance at it’s worst.- 237 replies

Swiss Expat Charged with Bodily and Mind Harm in Phuket Kicking Incident
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
He tripped. I was wondering how long it was going to take to give some coverage of this story. It’s been broadcast 24/7 all over the news channels. He picked on the wrong girl here and is about to be taught a well deserved lesson. No sympathy here- 237 replies

Swedish Man Arrested for Exchanging Counterfeit Money in Patong
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
These money changers scrutinise foreign currency pretty well. I tried with 4 different changers to exchange a USD100 note and they all rejected it for the same reason. A tiny print defect on the top edge. Even when it was mixed with other notes they all picked up on it and refused to accept it. The note was legit and the defect was hardly noticeable so it comes as no surprise this guy was apprehended -
I think a more selective approach would be in their best interests but needs to be applied equally to all nations independent and free of any government interference to the process. I do, however, believe it would be difficult to set up such a system in Thailand without compromise. I guess that rules me out.

7-Eleven in Thailand Reports Record Income of 399 Billion Baht in 2023
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They certainly are an asset of convenience and priced to attract the customers. Quite the contrary in Australia. I don’t suppose the franchisees see a whole lot of this. 399 billion baht is a lot of money in anyone’s language. -
Thai police officers face bankruptcy with debt over 300 billion baht

This is also the case for government health workers. I suspect all government workers have access to this type of seemingly cheap, crippling debt -
Thailand braces for intense heat with temperatures soaring

Combined with the inevitable smoke this could be insufferable and downright dangerous. I hope the electricity network can cope. -
Health ministry’s alcohol curfew talks hit a hiccup

I concur. Makes no sense. Serves no purpose and has no benefits. Any benefits are a figment of someone’s distorted imagination.
