Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you define socialism as opposition to significant tax breaks to the filthy rich, raising the minimum wage to a liveable wage and offering affordable health care to those unfortunate enough to be on the minimum wage then she is guilty as charged. Sounds like you might be paying her a compliment. -

Fatal Dog Attacks in Thailand Prompt Legal Reevaluation
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Stray dogs are a menace, not only can they be aggressive, they are also a road traffic hazard on the congested Thai roads in built up areas. Motorbike riders are more at risk when these dogs are allowed to mix freely amidst traffic flow. Serious attention is required to quell their numbers.- 61 replies

Rising Baht Sparks Fears of Another 'Tom Yam Kung' Crisis
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My first hand experience of exporting from Thailand is that the cost of shipping has amplified the problem. Shipping costs exploded during COVID and have not come down and now fewer shipping options are available leaving exporters at the mercy of these costs. I no longer bother engaging in exporting the products I was having manufactured here as I can’t compete with manufacturers of the same product in my home country.- 106 replies

Man Dies After Attack by Mixed-Breed Stray Dogs in Ubon Ratchathani
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
These attacks seem to be happening more and more frequently. What a terrible way to die. Authorities need to act on this sooner rather than later. Put aside their Buddhist beliefs and start a culling campaign otherwise these sort of attacks will continue. It’s not just the roads that are deadly but the sois as well. I’ve been told (never tried) that the best way to disable or disperse of a dog in an attack is, if you can, grab both front legs and reef them outwardly apart as hard and as violently as you can. Hope I never have to find out if it works. -
Elderly Woman in Tears at ATM: Receives 10,000 Baht to Support Family
Zack61 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I fear for an elderly lady living in my orbit. Whenever her long lost relatives hear of this she’s likely to get a request for a “loan”. She has such a soft heart I know she won’t be able to say no. I hope I’m wrong. -

I wouldn’t think so. The time it took to stop suggests brake failure. -
Only in his deluded mind. sorry I’ll take that back. He knows he lost but his narcissistic disposition will not allow him to admit it, so he and his surrogates have instead, convinced his deluded followers who have swallowed the lie hook, line and sinker that he was robbed. <deleted> me drunk. I didn’t realise there were so many stupid people in this world.

In Australia all prices are inclusive of tax. The consumer knows what they are going to pay each and every time. This makes for a much better experience with no nasty or unexpected add-ons. As someone stated earlier, stay away from those that deal from the bottom of the deck and aren’t completely up front with their pricing. The power is with you.
