  1. What kind of punishment is he facing?

my interpretation of this article from Siam legal is the following because it is a category two drug

Up to life imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 – 5,000,000 Baht, or the death penalty, (depending upon the amount of the substance or substances found) for disposal or possession for the purpose of disposal

    http://www.siam-lega...in-thailand.php

anyway what ever he gets he deserves the full lot because at that age you really should know betterermm.gif

  2. He's going to miss his freedom fries. sad.png

    He he he thumbsup.gif

I can't imagine he'll be banged-up for long for fraud - maybe a hefty fine, compensation to the victims and then deported back to la belle Francais ? bon voyage 'Monsieur Jeremy'

I think you could be wrong ?ermm.gif

  3. The pollution & heat that they kick out is horrendous.

If you're near a few when they are parked up then you get the full benifit as the drivers often leave the engines running to keep the AC running properly.

I don't think that they should be allowed down the small sois nor allowed to drop-off & pick-up as they please on Beach Rd.

Traffic would flow better if they stopped at allocated coach stops on 2nd Road & their passengers can walk the short distance.

it's astonishing to see the complete lack of any form of traffic management in this city.

On one side of the road you have two or three coaches parked waiting for their passengers

while on the other side you have the Pattaya City team of workers cutting down trees

so all the traffic has to be funnelled through one very narrow lane?

then a bit later on you see another coach on one side with a motorbike food vendors

with trolley coming up alongside the bus the wrong way! Total chaos

  4. Larry Cunningham, Australia's honorary consul in Phuket, praised Thai police for quickly bringing the men to justice.

But he said many of the criminals targeting tens of thousands of Australian tourists are never brought to justice and some have official protection.

"The major problem has always been the application of the law in Phuket where assaults continue unabated virtually every night and there are little or no arrests of the guilty parties, mainly because they have patronage protection," Mr Cunningam told The Age.

Very telling comments, one thing that strikes me is how quick the wheels of justice can work here when its about tourism etc, save the tourist industry etc. yet at other times things juts drag on and on until they just go away quietly.

surely it's because they admitted to the crime?

If they had to prepare the case space for trial I'm sure it would have taken many months but all they had to do in this instance was sentence them.

  5. Cambodia is going to offer (bought) citizenship for foreigners here soon. I heard it is not going to be cheap, but is pretty straight forward.

The surrounding nations really seem to be trying new things while Thailand is stuck in the mud.

Even Vietnam has changed beyond all recognition despite being a communist government.

In the late 90s getting a visa for Vietnam used to be an involved process but today there are very many casual travelers staying in Vietnam indefinitely on renewable three monthly stamps and in some cases 12 monthly.

Thailand simply doesn't adapt to the times

  6. S.V. Bike Shop, 62/1-3 Thepparasit Road (on corner of Soi 8 and Thepparasit Rd.)

    T. Nong Prue A. Banglamung 20150

    Tel. 038-300-378, 087-486-1242

Here you can rent or buy quality Bike

The owners sons compete around Asia, so they know what they are doing and don't sell certain rubbish, ie Chinese etc!

Hang on ! Wheeler is made in Taiwan and Trek has a factory in China ?

  7. Are you using the Education visa as a means to bypass the laws here? Like the majority of people signing up to the education visa? I find it interesting that the first thing you want to know after signing up for the education visa is the rules on visa runs to Cambodia! I suspect that you see this as a means to stay here without complying with the law here. Be careful, the powers that be in the immigration department are on to this.

are you suggesting there are no bona fide students in pattaya that simply wish to learn to speak Thai ?blink.png

  8. thanks a lot smile.png

  9. from microsoft: http://windows.micro...tcp-ip-settings

or, a bit easier to follow (with pictures smile.png

    http://www.sevenforu...indows-7-a.html

skip through the opening paragraphs and go down to step 1. in step 7, when entering the primary DNS, put 8.8.8.8 as suggested, instead of what's in the tutorial.

    thanks a lot smile.png

  10. The OP's post reads as if he has zero experience trading equities, much less day trading.

My advice is to spend the next 3 - 5 years learning the profession, then consider quitting his day job and then rely on income from trading. That is if he has any capital left.

Trading equities is not for the faint of heart and those that don't have deep enough pockets to suffer setbacks. Many think, wow, I can make a living trading stocks. Why I don't know. It's like someone flying a kite thinking they can fly a 747 without any formal training. Sure you can try it, but don't be surprised when you crash and burn.

yes indeed and how can anyone these days possibly compete with the bots ?blink.png

  11. Could anyone suggest why I seem to be unable to access just one particular

Website and yet no one else seems to be having this problem ? I have had this problem now for many days regarding this website.

The website in question is The Cambodian Government Electronic Visa Website

    http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/evisa/

I have tried on both Explorer and Firefox but on both I keep getting the message

    The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few

    moments.

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

    connection.

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure

that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

And yet I have no problem with any other websites.

Could this be due to some setting in my computer ?

  12. I almost got hit tonight by a Thai guy who flat out ran the red light at the cross street and just flew right through it, almost hitting me from the side. If I had not been watching for exactly that moron and others like him, he would have plowed me.

There were a LOT of drunks out tonight, swerving all over. Holiday and all.

i never assume a green light is all clear. I still still look both ways

and regard it only as a signal to proceed with caution bah.gif

  13. This has made my day. Scum. I've been posting about this over various forums for a long time.

google ' strange fruit in kalasin " for the story

Having spent a lot of time in Issan

i am shocked and sad that there was such evil by those that were meant

to uphold the law in the provinces. How could the thought patterns

and personal values of 5 such senior officers have

deteriorated there to this extent ?

Perhaps i am naive but i genuinely believed that Issan and it people

    were simple and honest.
