The debt ceiling in most Euro countries has been lifted as has the uSA , this allows more borrowing power & a way to print more currency.
More currency in circulation means less buying power as it becomes devalued.
Aussie Dollar has been stronger than the USD for a couple of years but if China slows down so will Aussie because their export of natural assets ie Iron Ore , Coal ,Gold , etc is linked to China predominantly.
'Bail Out' just means more debt to cover bad management. Another reason the Currency gets devalued.
Seems to be a never ending circle
a circle implies restoration at some point or an ability to pay back at least
some of the debt.
But the elephant in the room is that jobs will never come back.
what work is there for people - nothing.so how can they pay back the debts?
So it is a one way street to ruination.. not circle

California WOW – Have they just figured out it’s a scam?
why is it a scam? A quick google search of other california fitness chains around the region (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia) will show you exactly what I’m referring to, in each of these countries the California Fitness gyms went bankrupt.

Karma is one very beautiful person.........
Foreign office' urgent priority messages' are usually binned in my experience unless its accompanied by a message saying the 'Hardship Allowance' has been raised. Its against work policy. Comes under 'over-assisting'.
under normal circumstances perhaps but this time this case
has generated so much empathy with the victim and such disgust
regarding the alleged perpetrator that i have been assured these bulletins
were accompanied by a special ( and personal ) request to sellotape the message
to be displayed in a very prominent location at all missions
I am afraid your assurance were in vain. There is still an appeal for Maddy McCann at the Embassy but no watch our for Mr. Tinsley.
oh but there is

Our local consular offices can issue emergency travel documents, but you should be aware that background and identity checks will still need to be carried out before we can issue such a document and this may take time.
do you honestly think they will give him one if he has skipped bail ?
meanwhile i have already alerted a friend of mine who is in the UK Foreign Office about this guy
so tommorow if he tries what you suggest i think he will have a nasty shock
OK follow me on this as it seems you are one of the rare ones that has half an idea whats going on here.
If he applies for an ETD in BKK they will do a background check with Thai immigrations and oh look he is on the hit list so no ETD. Skip over to Malaysia and any background checks will come up clean FOR MALAYSIA so an ETD can be issued.
Personally I LOATH this little fat bald runt and what he has done is disgusting BUT where I come from regardless you don't grass BUT if someone was to inform the FCO in the UK then quite possibly his world will fall apart. Only problem is time difference by the time the UK FCO opens he could well be on a flight.......
Now if it was me and I was also wanted back in the UK I would possibly make one of the en-route stops France, then jump the Eurostar walking through Waterloo with the ETD no chance of him getting stopped
All that is require for an ETD is a police report stating you have lost your passport (You do not have to tell police where, why, etc) and proof that you had a passport before (photocopy will do) and 75 quid. Same day service. Get to the Embassy before 11 am and tell them you need a flight immediately, Its tried and trusted by crooks. Front desk staff are mostly Thai. They do not read the Pattaya enlgish language newspapers, well few people do. Brits dont like too much contact. But there is a Thai woman in the gatehouse who is very inquisite.
'Have you got a police report?
'Yes'
Well I'm going through.
"Let me see you police report!"
"You don't believe me. Am I going to lie about that?'
'Show me your police report'.
(And that was the Deputy Head of Mission I believe)
All that is require for an ETD is a police report stating you have lost your passportNot when your name has been printed out in bold red writing and has pasted the wall
with an explanatory message to the staff in all UK missions
to effectively be " on the look out " for one Sean Henry Tinsley

would it be difficult / impractical to start a new small gym under communal ownership ? like a
shared ownership type arrangement ?
-
but it remains unclear if this applies to tourists as well as business travelers
i dont understand why they dont provide clarity over this issue ?

Maybe he did that in the " old days " but not now. UK passports are now dealt with in regional centres ( since 2010 )
there are only 7 regional UK passport centres ( Düsseldorf, Hong Kong, Madrid, Paris, Pretoria, Washington, and Wellington.)
for the whole world so I am pretty sure they would linked up in this day and age.
If he goes to Penang as you say I dont think he will get much in the way of a document there because
all UK passport applications for Asia are all dealt with in Hong Kong. I am sure they will know the score there.
Who said anything about him applying for a new passport in Penang? I said he would get a ETD which is an Emergency Travel Document issued by the local Embassy valid for a one direction trip back to the UK with I *think* up to 5 stops allowed and issued the same day.
All he needs is a Malaysian police document saying his PP has been lost/stolen/whatever.
From the following link...... http://ukinthailand....nals/passports/
Emergency Travel Document (ETD)
To obtain an Emergency Travel Document (ETD), the applicant must apply in person. They will need to establish if the country they are planning to travel to accepts ETDs. To do this, they will need to contact that country's embassy.
An ETD is valid for only one return journey out of Thailand which can be to a maximum of five destinations. A person may only be issued with 2 ETDs within a 12 month period.
Please bring the following:
- completed application form
- recently taken passport sized photograph
- proof of your confirmed travel plans (e.g. travel itinerary, hotel booking etc.)
- If you are resident in Thailand, proof that your passport is unavailable (If lost/stolen; a police report).
- copy of passport data page

He has the connections to get across the border the rest is a bit of smooth talk to the MY British Embassy.

Rubbish. The Embassy is completely aware of the situation of course.
The British Embassy in BKK? Yes of course they are aware BUT do you think all the British Embassies in the world are linked up!
I know of 2 people he has helped get out of the country without a passport and with the police chasing them. Corruption on the border is all that's needed.
HE will go straight to Penang and apply for an ETD Monday morning when the Embassy opens.
As for 'rubbish' only ignorance is rubbish.......

Well I guess if it gets THAT bad PM's won't help much either as people could not afford to buy them and gold shops etc. would go bust - I take your points though but I have a couple of properties in UK and half dozen here giving me my monthly 'income'. I do keep a bit of fiat and a bit of Au (but just sold 75% of it as I fear a downward spiral at some point to 1500). let's face it - there is NO protection and the only people who will thrive are those with huge stock piles of rice and water etc. in some secure facility but I just can't see it getting that bad... (he say's hopefully).
PS if PM's went down lower than 1500 I would 'top up' of course - who knows?
The important point here is that it is your property which is generating a regular monthly income (dividend). Do not surrender that lightly.
But what happens when tenants lose their jobs or just won't pay the rent because they are hard up?
Oh you mean like what is happening all over California? When that happens you stop getting your dividends and good luck kicking them out easily with the current renters rights.
And there is also the situation of what happens when the landlord himself or herself gets into financial trouble and the property risks being foreclosed?
In fact many lawyers have advised tenants to stay put but to not pay the rent under those circumstances.
-
I convert much of my fiat into property - people will always need somewhere to live even if rents halved!!!
true and a wise choice but not very liquid if you need money and things can go very bad sometimes. We have 50% of our assets in property 35% now in gold and silver and 15% in stocks. If your rental dries up and believe me it can very quickly you still need liquid to but the food and things. If people get desperate and it happens they wont pay any rent even half or they will just go and live in tents and that happens.

showed the three men were driving in a group of approximately 7 motorbikes
if the motorbike riders were travelling side by side taking up the whole lane as I saw them doing
in Koh Chang yesterday on very narrow and hilly roads then I would have absolutely no sympathy with them.
if they ride like hoons sooner or later they will get their comeuppance.
In the West think we would call it contributory negligence

The parlous state of the world banking system is starting to look increasingly shakier every day and this
will surely affect Thailand eventually?
There is np need for me to say anything about the banks in Europe but even the Gov of the Bank of England is sounding gloomy ( http://www.bbc.co.uk...siness-18587254 ) and there are some very sinister theories regarding the National Westminster bank computer glitch in UK which some are saying now will go on for many weeks more.( some are saying they are short of cash
)
We all know also about the banking downgrades even in USA so where is all this money to buy more property coming from ?

They just showed the two suspects on ABC Australian television news. Both handcuffed as they were explaining they didn't intend to stab the deceased but were trying to cut the straps of her bag.
How utterly dumb and senseless is what I say.

Tourism in Thailand has peaked. But dont worry Thailand will still get the scraps from Myanmar's future tourist industry, Bank Guy says.
and as the tourist numbers start to slowly fall the prices in Thailand will increase
even more due the application of the unique " Thaieconomics "
Savanakhet - Where To Stay? How To Get There From Airport?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
when i arrived there also on a Sunday it was such a refreshing
change to most airports in Asia ( even Thailand
)where you get hoardes of touts
trying to rip you off. There was not a single taxi or tuk tuk !!!![laugh.png](//forum.thaivisa.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
Not so many people got off in Savanakhet because that plane actually
goes onto another destination and most people stayed on board.
Not to worry because i sat down and a nice lady in the terminal said she would phone
for a tuk tuk and about 10 minutes later it arrived.
It is such a laid back place ....it's great !
I stayed at Leena Guesthouse which i can say was very clean and good value
here is the website
