Chinese tourism to Thailand lags despite lifted travel restrictions
Not all bad news today then.

lots of sick people
Op, may I suggest looking at diet, environment and fitness before injecting more ’stuff’ into your arm willy nilly as many here suggest?

Are SONY's Headphones Better than .... THESE?
No idea but a decent pair of headphones will trounce a decent sound system as there is no room acoustics to take into consideration. You also don’t upset neighbours with horrible music. ????

What makes people follow made-up morality, obey silly, foolish or simply unenforceable laws.
I’ll break a superfluous law if it suits. Those that follow arbitrary laws to the letter—stick to every speed limit, never jaywalk, pay through the nose for this or that service when they don’t need to—are more lemming than morally superior. Screw that 1984 bs! ????

Thailand reviews taxes and launches digital wallet to tackle income disparity
They are all the same. All these unelected dinosaurs need eviscerating. Anyone anywhere over 50 should not be allowed to hold office.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Cute how governments twist things when it suits them. I’ve always been told I’m a non-immigrant here and have practically no rights. If I’m deemed as being resident and forced to hand over taxes, should I not be afforded the benefits that residency and bring a tax payer brings? ???? Yeah, right. “Why, no sir, you are only resident for ‘tax purposes.’” Yuck!

Goodbye Alcoholism, Hello Sobriety!
A factor in why I generally abstain during the week…. losing subsequent days. If Thai beer were any good and wine were a normal price, that might be different. Weed not same for everyone; find it makes me pretty groggy/sluggish next day, whatever strain.

Thailand’s new tax twist: Overseas earners spending 180 days face income tax
I’ll pay tax if you give me residency and allow me to vote you out!

Thai PM to discuss visa-free travel, boost Indian tourism in Thailand

Opinion: Thailand’s ambitious plan to tax incoming funds risks falling flat due to lack of clarity
Then say that then. Putting out spurious policies will only do one thing… scare off investors! Someone looking to set up shop here will likely be none too pleased at potentially having their ALREADY TAXED money stolen by banks/government.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
That could be their intention if it is indeed a catchall… to clear some farang out and to also catch locals bringing in vast wealth. If you look at it with xenophobe eyes it is quite neat.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Yes indeed, they can do this.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
For ‘tax residents’. Are retirees/non-employed married folk here considered tax residents? I think not. Whether they make it all encompassing is another thing. Wouldn’t put it past them, but also that it never happens.

Birth rate plunge triggers health minister’s urgent action plan
Indeed, but politicians are always thinking about revenue.

Weighing passengers to become standard for Bangkok Airways
That's fine too as long as you pay for it! Not my fault if you're 10 foot tall. If I get charged extra for having one more kilogram in my luggage, while the guy behind me three times my weight doesn't gets off scot free, then something is broke.

Mercedes driver faces charges after road rage incident with taxi in Phuket
Yep, they don't like that. Having one of them this country (normal car in the west) used to give one carte blanche in being a proper dh. Nice to hear they're getting pulled up for it now... and while you're at it book the taxi driver for charging exorbitant rates!

Living Without Passport?
I wouldn’t nowadays either. Have renewed passport many moons ago here, but that was direct with CM consulate and all went smoothly. Last time I timed it with trip home, which I’ll do again. Op, if for real, go back to your embassy and ‘demand’ a temporary travel doc… cannot understand why they did not suggest this. Avoid going to ground, that will create a bigger issue.

Living Without Passport?
Probably not and unlikely at hotel. One can fly with local driving license though.

Thailand’s government proposes swift minimum wage increase to 400 baht
Very noble, I’m sure, but as a minister of finance would surely be able to work out, raising minimum wages does not really help those paid the least for the blatantly OBVIOUS reason already stated. It just takes more money out of everyone’s pockets. Finance people will say it doesn’t necessarily drive inflation but that’s prattle. It will always have a knock on effect, while employers will start looking at efficiency and offloading superfluous staff. Gotta be done steadily and incrementally, not in massive election-fulfilling chunks.

American man faces dilemma as Thai girlfriend’s parents demand 1 million baht dowry
You don’t know what his age is or factoring the status of the girl/parents is. Yours smacks of a typical know-all (know nothing) visitor with little knowledge outside the bar scene. Cringeworthy references to ‘cheap Charlie’ gives you away somewhat. While Thai males still show funds (and indeed more than this in some cases), it’ll typically be for the daughter of someone with high standing, not some average family in the middle of nowhere. There’s one born every minute.

Chiang Mai first impressions
Great place, & the mountains. Those that poo-poo it are typically devoid of culture Pattaya types. I’m glad they stay away. ???? ^^^ Nov-Feb is best, and no you don’t need a mask then.
