  1. THAI has reached an initial agreement with Airbus to exchange necessary information and jointly evaluate the potential development of a TG MRO Complex Development at U-Tapao.

They have an Agreement to exchange information, and to check if u-Tapao is at all a possible location. Not more.

Until 2021 there is still much to be done. Visa and work permits for all foreign specialists, Import tax percentages for aircraft spare parts, Shareholder rights and voting rights. I guess airbus will not contribute for a 49% share the whole know how.

  2. CP is the greatest food company in thailand and a very influential and powerful company. I am sure that this company has no problems with the labor authorities, in contrast to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Without corresponding connections, the application of a work permit is an endless paper war and depends on the daily whim of the official clerk.

i was looking  for a second car, i looked at the swift and found that the road noise was bad, i narrowed it down to an attrage, but now thinking about the note, 565,000 for the lower spec, 640,000 for the top model, both with alloys, automatic and push button start, the top model has intelligent 4 way around view cameras, forward collision warning, emergency braking and lane departure warning.

My wife bought the new Note top model. She has negotiated hard and got many extras on top. Leather seats, usb driverseat armrest, acoustic back sensors, dash cam, sunshades, carbon rain gutters, rubber mat set, fully comprehensive insurance for one year, all admission charges and a full fueltank.  Also the split back bench in the top model is useful. The car is 20 cm longer than the Swift. Long wheelbase and plenty of space in the fond. The note is not as flat as the Swift, in the interior the roof height is very good. Motorization is a bit thin at 80 ps and 1.2 liter, but is sufficient for Thai roads. Soothing automatic transmission. The kickdown is always enough to overtake on the country roads. The car convinced us with regard to price / performance compared to the Swift. Honda Jazz and Mazda 3 are significantly higher in price. The 3 meters cars like mazda 2, etc. were for us clearly too small.

  4. “Be focused and correct things, one after another. People’s happiness is in our hands,” read the final lines of his morale-boosting verse.

What happens if the rulers do not make the right things?

    Where is the necessary corrective?

Happiness is always there where people can participate and co-decide.

I forgot how the word is called but it starts with a "d".

  5. Anyway.
I think it's a good thing that the new employment law for foreigners is / will be stopped.
Actually, only the penalties were increased and the real problem was not solved.
At least 120 days to think about the whole thing.

Labor rights need to be more differentiated and produce specific solutions for different stakeholders and sectors.
For the Chinese workers and designers who are to build the high-speed train, specific solutions from the perspective of labor law have already been proclaimed.
Specific, case-oriented implementing regulations would be appropriate.

    For example:
Special work permits for the masses of Burmese, Lao and Cambodian factory workers and housemaids.
Special work permits for the workers in the tourist resorts.
Special work permits and labor rights for the many workers on the fishing boats.
Special work permits for the many foreign English teachers.
Special work permits for foreigners who want to work voluntarily.
Special work permits for foreigners who are married to Thai people. Here, foreign husbands/spouse must also be allowed to support their Thai family by working.
    etc.
And the whole should be bureaucratically simple.
Thailand needs foreign workers, experts and know-how for its economic development.
It is important to legalize the many foreign workers.
Would also eliminate corruption and the traffickers.
And hard penalties for slave traders.
This requires a clear differentiation in labor legislation and not the current sledgehammer with high penalties uniform for all.

I don't understand why people get scared. It clearly states that only those who violate the laws will be under threat and punished. Of course this is nothing new.. these rules and regulations have been here for ever. We all know that we have to abide by our contract with employers and have proper work permits and Visas. If this is implemented strictly then it is goodbye for several cheap Charlies disguised as teachers and advisers just extending their holidays ..

Be careful when mowing your lawn or doing any repairs outside at your house!

The way I read this the legislation is aimed at the Thai employers, not the foreign workers. I welcome it if, for example, it persuades school directors to provide the documentation and assistance needed by foreign teachers working at their schools in order to help them get their work permits. I've lost count of the number of stories I've read about foreign teachers struggling to get "legal" because the school they teach at won't help them to get a work permit - I've been in that situation in the past too.

If the law is enforced against schools and school directors (as employers) then it might also result in a clear out of any unsuitably qualified teachers as they will find it more difficult to satisfy the requirements to obtain a work permit - meaning the schools decide not to employ them; instead schools who want a foreign teacher will be forced to hire suitably qualified teachers and pay the rate that those teachers fetch on the market.

I understand your argument, but a Thai director of a government school will certainly not have to pay 800,000 baht or go to jail.
The problem with the non-registered foreign teachers could certainly be solved differently.
The problem are the undifferentiated work laws here.
With this law is certainly not achieved such a goal, more on the contrary.
The law opens the door for corrupt officials who are now able to go on extortion hunting.

I really do not understand this unfriendly behavior. It seems that we are not allowed to have a normal life, such as family and job to support your Thai wife and children. ANY Thai who come to the Western world is welcomed and given the chance to get a job and make a honest living. I used to be a carpenter, I am not allowed to work. Even it would be 6.000 baht/month.

    So true and annoy me.
If a Thai wife, for example, has a restaurant and her foreign husband helps her to shop and carry the heavy drinks boxes,
the married couple is then in danger of getting high fines up to 800,000 Baht plus prison for it.
And there are unfortunately many money-loving officials who do not miss something like that.
    I could puke.
A legislation which is clearly directed against foreigners married with Thais.
It's time to pack the bags.

  9. Given the floor for 10 minutes at the end of a Brussels summit dinner ....

... May left immediately afterwards, leaving the other 27 to discuss other Brexit issues without her.

Must be a shit feeling for May.

Over 40 years the UK has been fully involved in shaping european politics, and now she must leaving the meeting room and standing outside the door.

The EU, especially Grupenfuhrer Merkel, keep picking over TM's citizenship offer, but have.still not given any assurances about Brits living in the EU countries.

TM tried to sort this out with the fat frau just after the Brexit vote but was dismissed out of hand.

I'd like to see a positive outcome from these talks but it seems impossible to negotiate with these EU types.

I dread it but in the end I think we'll just have to walk. That's if parliament oks it.

What do you expect here? That the Brexit is regulated in a 10 minute side talk.

That is naive bar stool thinking.

It appears it doesn't matter what this government achieves ....   you just want to whinge.

Why not try to enjoy life ...

Sad that every day is met with bitterness ....  why live here ...

Why do you prescribe others bitterness? Have you ever come to the idea that others pay taxes here, work here, raise children here and have thai families?

And do you think that people who ask public spending money love less thailand than uncritical yes sayers?
