Hopefully the guy who got hit was ok. Just had a friend visiting me for a couple of days on route to a visit to his folks in the Uk and he commented on the zebra crossings. I told him to ignore them and they are not to be mistaken for somewhere to corss the road in safety.
I think he took my advice onboard but only fully understood when he was telling me he was using one and the car that was waiting for him to corss started honking his horn at him in agressive manner as if to say 'what the hel_l are you doing crossing the road here'!

Got any other recommendations for Laundry services. Mainly for large items such as Bed sheets and towels etc...

They are only trying to get rid of old stock which buyers bought thinking they would be big sellers...thousands and thousands of old (terrible) books just sitting in the warehouse doing nothing!

Lucky i read this topic as i was about to contact UBC about getting set up for a gold package but i think i will sit tight for a while and see what happens...its looking like the alternatives to UBC are worth taking a look at.

Your visa is cancelled 7 days after your work permit is cancelled. You have to leave the country and come back in on a tourist visa.
You should get a receipt called WP10 when your permit is cancelled. I am notsurebut you might need to keep this when your new company is applying for your now work permit.
If you find new work within 30 days of your work permit being cancelled i think they can just transfer your permit rather than applying for a new one.
This is just some info i was given when my owrk permit was cancelled a couple of months ago. I am sure Sunbelt would be able to give you more specific info.

Dont suppose you saw the re-entry permit office on your travels round the airport?

Wear what you want mate.
Spot on. Whatever makes you feel comfortable. The only exception are cultural issues such as the proper attire for temples etc...

I think you can get your re entry stamp at immigration too. I have always done it at the airport but with the circus show that is the opening of Suvarnabhumi i woudnt risk it and spend a bit of time getting it sorted at immigration.

I have also tried calling an old number just by inserting the 8 and they have gone through with no problems. The person i was calling has not visited any shop or done anything to their sim.
It would be great if this was the case...

Another skytrain gripe are the ones who will wait for the train knowing that there is a queue of people waiting patiently but they wait along the side and not adding to the numbers of the queue, once the train pulls in they try to sneak in in front of all the people who have been waiting.
Then they try to push against the rush of people coming out of the train!
It used to really wind me up but know i just stand back and watch the show! The train is only as quick as the last person who gets in!

There is a ladies only tower right by Thong Lor BTS station going towards On Nut. I think it is called Gunn Tower. From the skytrain you can see a big banner on the building stating that it is a female only building complex and it has a contact phone number too.
I have also used www.hamptons.co.th to find property here in Bkk. They have english speaking staff and are very helpful.

Anyone else got any stories to tell using this service...I do wonder how efficient they really are if their website has been down for so long...
