I remember being taken to the cinema to see 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea as a child in the 60's, stunning special effects for a film made in the 50's.

it NEVER was possible to receive a Non-Imm-O/A or an extension from it, based on a marriage to a Thai !
ANY Immigration Office which would allow this to happen, is doing so illegally and wrongly, contrary to the existing police order. Chaeng Wattana has urged & reminded every IO nationwide to report immediately, should any holder of an O/A extension based on marriage show up.
The Rayong IO is acting correctly based on the police order = NO extension possible for O/A based on marriage
The Non-Imm-O/A and its extensions was introduced mainly and ONLY for application of a Longstay, based on being over 50 years old
I did say in my original post that his application to convert from an OA retirement visa to an O marriage visa/extension has been accepted, but he won't know if he has been approved for 30 days.

Question > Did he convert from an OA - retirement extension to an O - marriage Visa and subsequent extension?
My understanding is yes what you asked although as it's a marriage extension it will take 30 days to process which is why I said the application was approved.
He wanted an O marriage extension because of the insurance requirements for the OA visa and at his age he was quoted something like 120,000 baht.

My wife went as a witness for a German guy and his Thai wife yesterday to Rayong immigration to see if he could convert from an OA retirement to an O marriage visa/extension and apparently the application was approved (ie being allowed to apply), there was some confusion about his pension and he has to go back today with further proof from his bank. My wife also said the application was quicker than usual and the office quieter than normal possibly due to the corona virus.

Oh please, you’re just bitter and jealous that people are getting a tan. I lay out in the sun everyday in Phuket and only between 11am and 2pm when the UV index is over 10 ( i’m Irish, German, Norwegian, spanish ) and would never give that up. I surfed and did tanning salons form age 14 to 30 too. I still look 21 most people say and a decade younger than my peers. Laying out in the sun has nothing to do with aging and cancer. You get cancer and age as result of poor genetics. Even if I do get skin cancer some day, it’s extremely easy and cheap to treat In 2020. Skin cancer is not a big deal anymore. There will be a cure for cancer within 4 years anyways. It will be pricey at first but 10 years form now, no one will die from cancer. Fact.
oh please don't be so modest mr hansum man ............

Ultimately it would appear to be a bad judgement call by a pilot who although IFR qualified and flying a machine that was possibly IFR enabled, didn't keep that ticket current and took a chance based on years of flying locally that supported a sadly misguided notion that visibility never gets that bad that quick. Couldn't go up or around the clouds so opted to try and go under them in hilly terrain? If this is the case, I wonder why going back appears not to have been an option either.
if that is the case it's better to tell ATC that you're climbing until you have VFR conditions above cloud and then descend under their radar guidance. I had a fixed wing private pilots licence but under instruction from an instructor we flew through some marginal weather to get to our destination airport. It is really hard work concentrating on instruments totally as a VFR licensed pilot and you only do a couple of hours to get your licence flying with foggles (glasses that make sure you can only see the instrument panel). I heard loads of stories about many helicopters landing on golf courses when the weather closed in ( heard 1 in contact with Swansea tower) landed a few miles away.
Single pilot and complicated helicopter with stress from passengers behind must be really hard work.

My friend in Singapore told me that every household is being issued 4 masks, and each household is under quarantine. If somebody breeches it they will be fined $100. They are doing things right
yes but it's a tiny island filled mostly with sensible people but the immigrant workers from the Indian sub continent won't take any notice of it. they'll still be sharing 1 bottle of beer outside of orchard towers on the weekend.

Just now, Traubert said:I live in China, I dont see the 'disgusting' behaviour he describes. I might see an old guy spit, he knows no better he's been in the paddies all his life. I might see a Grandma holding a toddler over a drain so the kid can pee. They don't use nappies. The kids have split pants. One of his stories is a of a Chinese woman leaving a soiled nappy in Big C. Nonsense.
The way he speaks there's legions of Chinese busily p****ng in the streets. He's a bigot. he admitted it.
He's probably at home now, sitting in his semen splattered underpants inventing more stories for his own gratification.
I have worked there 4 times, onshore & offshore and to see them spitting their food out then eating it again or spitting it on the floor.....
I would either try to be the first to eat or the last to eat. I was working in Kepple shipyard in Singapore on long term nightshift so I would get back after finishing my shift to where I was staying in a 5 star hotel at the top of Orchard Road. One morning a Chinese guy was doing his throat clearance in the breakfast restaurant and was just about to spit on his plate when he was dragged off by the staff into the toilet. If you have never seen anything like this you really are living in Chinese HISO society.

we heard this afternoon that a Chinese tourist on Koh Samet, Rayong might have the virus and has been rushed to Bangkok Rayong hospital. no updates on the news before my wife went to bed.

We have Mitsubishi in all our properties and they seem pretty good with spares available. If I was to do it again from the start I would only have Daikin, if you look you will see most commercial properties use these units and not just in Thailand.

I know a few 'Christians' who have married Muslim women and who have had to convert to Islam for this to be possible. I would never have changed my principles for a selfish religion like that but aren't you sentenced to death if you leave Islam?.

A possible scenario:
Shot the plane after pilot refused to get back to the airport. (Perhaps there was someone who was wanted by them).
1st missile warned the pilot and tried to go back, but 2nd missile caused the crash while it was trying to go back to the airport.
The black box is the key. No wonder they refuse to hand it over to France. If you had seen the latest video the NYT had received you could see there are 2 missile strikes. There was no warning, don't you think the US & Israel would have been monitoring commercial radio traffic?.
-
be careful what you do, I had 2 friends who had invested in government bonds because the interest rate was good but were then warned on extension renewals that it wouldn't be allowed again.
-
I had a home visit last year when renewing my marriage extension and the immigration officer turned up in one of these.

Well that's the local residents lives turned upside down, will no longer be a small coastal community.
