  1. I use EPIC browser and it has a built in vpn with a British server available but sometimes you have to reload the browser which they recommend to do. I don't listen to Radio 5 but I've got it on while typing this. I used this browser to watch the rugby world cup on ITV. EPIC is also considered one of the most secure browsers and you can even do your 90 day reports using it.

Only at 1 or 2 rogue offices that wanted it in the bank for 3 months since the were using the old rules for retirement extensions.

Not sure they are still doing that or not since it is now since is now 2 months for them as well.

Are you really sure of this Joe as Rayong always said 3 months to me so I paid into the account accordingly?

I just show a Thai bank book with 400K+ in there and a letter from the bank stating the amount in my account, dated 2 days before I visit immigration. Than on the day I visit immigration I transfer 100 baht from another account into my 400K account and update the bank book. I make a photo copy of the updated book and they never asked where the money originated from

When I renewed in February at Rayong imm. they wouldn't accept the bank letter from 3:30 pm the day before so had to go off to Kasikorn in Ban Chang. I had a second visit to our home from immigration for this 4th renewal and he told me I was supposed to support my wife even though she has a resort business I paid for to be built. My Thai isn't very good but the officer was trying to trip us up with the questions he asked my wife and witness during this visit. Now my wife understands why I don't trust immigration and why I'm so cynical about them. Why do you have to visit a bank on the day when immigration opens at 8 am and the bank 9:30?

No, that's right, not after the yearly extension is _granted_, but that's not the same day that you apply for the extension.

For thai dependent visas (wife/child), if all your paperwork passes on the day you apply, you're initially given a 28-day visa, and then after 28 days you go back to get the stamp for the remaining 11 months (theoretically, the 28-days is supposed to be time during which they investigate your claims, interview ppl in your soi, etc to verify your documentation).

I've done these extensions quite a few times now, but the last one was different. I was told that as well as proving the 400k in the bank on the day of application (the usual routine) I also had to prove it AGAIN when I go to collect the full stamp in 28 days. I've never been asked to do that before; I don't know if it's a universal 'new' rule, just a Bangkok rule (this was at Chaeng Wattana) or just a "kon piset" rule especially for me.????‍♂️

They said the second check would require just the bank book update and photocopy of the relevant bank book pages (no need for the additional guarantee letter that you also need for the first check). I'll find out when I go next week whether they actually require that check for real or if it was just a capricious comment by the officer on the day I went.

You just never know with IM what's going to happen, why it's happening, or whether it's happening for all, some or no one but you!!

Thankfully, this will be my last year here, fingers crossed.

edit: on the good side, I will say they have markedly improved their efficiency since last time I went. They got through the numbers so fast that by the time I'd gone and got the letter from the bank I'd already missed my queue (no 27) and they made me get another one. The new ticket was 68, and I was still out of there by 11am. Nice to be able to say, for once: good work IM!

my last marriage extension this year in February, Rayong immigration wouldn't accept my bank letter/statement from 3:30 in the afternoon the previous day so had to go to Ban Chang to get another letter which they did for free even though my branch is Ban Phe. immigration is open at 8am and my bank 9:30, it just seems like the last 2 years they are deliberately trying to <deleted> people off.

  6. had two visits in Rayong, first time application and this year 4th renewal. first visit from a very polite professional guy and the second from an immigration officer who turned up in an official immigration 5 series BMW and was a ........ all the way through the visit trying to trip up my wife up then me. never paid any expenses both times but it does seem like they want to fail you now.

  7. I sympathise with you, we live 800m from a beach in Rayong and a few years ago the resorts would sometimes go on till 4am without turning the volume down. One night/morning we phoned nearly every police number except the emergency number in Ban Phe & Rayong without an answer. Thankfully the army cracked down on the resorts so apart from a few wedding parties etc amongst our neighbors it does shut down at night.

  8. and the last 2 times I have left the country Rayong immigration haven't required one.  it's just rinse repeat from different parts of the country and that's why there are so many posts about it.

Needs to be said that this info received from Khorat immigration, specifically that TM30 is only required when re-entering from abroad and not from another province, was directly contradicted last night by Bangkok immigration officials at the Thai-Indian Chamber of Commerce, as reported by Richard Barrow. They said it is required to file TM30 even when visiting a different province for longer than 24 hours.

And Rayong immigration told my wife that a TM30 wasn't required when coming back from abroad if it was to the same registered address.
