  1. What a terrible accident. RIP.
still cannot fathom the physics. Looks like the car overcame 3 obstacles, the thing on the floor, the concrete and the guard rail. There could not have been much speed involve. How much can one really accelerate in one yard?
Can anybody calculate mass * speed= force? Even a relatively flimsy rail should have given the driver enough time to switch gears, no? I am asking here, not speculating or making a statement. Just dont know.

Ko Samed national Park is exactly the same.
200 THB for foreign adults and 100 THB for foreign children.
For Thais it's 40 THB for adults and 20 THB for children.

It's ALL about the principle, Land of smiles they say, sure we understand why !!!
    Outrages and completely wrong!

I'm over 20 years married with a Thai lady and have 2 children, they all can enter under the Thai rate but the moron asked me to pay the foreign fee, <deleted>!

Know exactly how you feel. Was in the same situation. I think what makes it worst is that koh samed really does not portrait the image of a national park.....

Fees could be build into the hotel rates.

Another amazing expirience we had was driving through khao yai. We were 3 thais and one foreigner in the car. As I drove the car, the rate for the vehicle was the foreigner rate....

I like how - according to TV members - every proposition of the Thai government always is a risk for the tourism...:biggrin:

Seriously, ithis could have an impact mainly on the sex-tourists that frequent the beer bars in the red-zones, and so it could be a good thing (IMHO) but even if Thailand would decide to globally forbid beer, there would be still millions of real-tourists willing to visit the country. :welcomeani:

    But would they come back?

I hear you and agree, majority of tourists are not deterred by increased alcohol prices. The ones that eventually might not return are people on avarage budgets, who come regularly once a year or so. They might look at Spain, Mexico or anywhere nearer to home and cheaper.

  4. Yes walking street is not for shopping its an party entertainment zone nightlife redlight district..u probably better of in your isaarn village where the only entertainment venue in a radius of 15 km is the 7/11.

Exactly, an elaborated red light district. What makes you think Issan village? Never been there. Prefer Bangkok, Hua Hin, even Bang Saen for that matter.
Nothing wrong with Pattaya, if that is what one is looking for. I just dont recommend it for family with kids.

the bar girls story is a complete fabrication.  I know because I am the girl in the white dress involved in the incident.  We aere charged extortionate prices for the drinks much more expensive than any where else on the road. It was only an ordinary bar not a go go bar and the prices were shocking.  We paid the bill in full and they then wanted to charge us more money for drinks we never had.  We had one drink each in there and that woman has brought shame on Thailand for her despicable actions and violent behaviour  I went to go to Tourist police and didnt get the chance but as soon as I mentioned police she got violent. and anyone who believes her side of the story need their head examined.  We are not tourists we have lived here in Hua Hin for 11 years we have always aid our bills whereever we have gone and have never rceived treatment like this in any br before. I just hope that when she goes to court she gets her just deserts as people should not be ribbed off in this manner

That is exactly what I thought. Unfortunately with so many posts in this thread, this one is not seen by many of us.
    Hope all will be alright.

  6. Not really sure what reserves the article is talking about. Is it just the available cash flow?
Last Year's budget was 2,720 bn baht. That means government spent roughly 225 bn baht per month. In that context a reserve of only 0.3 monthly spending seems very low to me.
Anybody with an economics background care to shed some more light on this? Maybe compare with other countries?

  7. It's probably pretty nice if it isn't rancid, but whenever I've bought it it's been... ancient.

Never experienced that. I get mine from Max Value. They appear to have quite a turnover on their inventory. Trust everyone checks expiration dates before buying any dairy here.
