  1. Typical tourists are on a budget. If that was an average of 48k last year, it means that it was about 1200 Euros. Say this year budgets of European Tourists rose 5%, that makes it 1260 Euros. With the current rate of exchange the spending ought to drop to 44k baht.

Other currencies are affected by the strong baht as well, so in my opinion tourist spending in baht will go down or stagnate.

What are the products tourists buy to take home? I think most go for some fashion stuff or souvenirs , not necessarily branded.

Brand name items can be had cheaper abroad.

  2. Oh lord, where to start CC?

Now if you will only develop a sense of humour and stop showing Freddie Frinton (Der 90. Geburtstag) every Christmas, maybe you will be classed as a great nation.

We love Freddie Frinton. I make my Family watch Dinner for One every Christmas, even here, then we "kill that cat" "same procedure as every year".....

  3. Not an easy question. There are the likes of Karl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler, Otto Lillienthal, Ferdinand Porsche, Robert Bosch, Albert Einstein, Konrad Zuse, Nikolaus Otto, Rudolf Diesel, Manfred von Ardenne, Alexander von Humboldt, Friedrich Schiller, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner, Immanuel Kant, Werner von Siemens, Martin Luther and so many more.

However my vote goes to Franz Beckenbauer!

  4. j7general, I am 42 and my wife found me medical coverage for 2550 baht a year (only 4 digits, none missing, 2550!). Add to this my international travel insurance and it is still below 10,000bath a year. So yes, she's trying to rip you off.

Would you mind telling me the insurance company?

My insurance is up for renewal soon.

I think I paid about 12,000 for my previous one, but the policy isn't very good.

Done, check your message box biggrin.png

    Me too please.

  5. Years ago I painted over wallpaper. Regular latex based paint. I guess the key is to apply very little paint at a time, so it can dry before activating the glue.

You mention it was said that the wallpaper was already painted once before? In that case I would think it is safe to paint it again.

Try on a smallish section. Good luck!

  6. How far back can one go? There have been thousands of wars, and I am sure many unsettled claims.

Also the original article is not quite correct in stating that "Schuld" is the same word for guilt and deb in German. Debt in the sense used is probably better translated with "Schulden".

I believe that this does not have anything to do with the current Greek situation and should be treated completely separate.

  7. We all know nothing is really free. If extras are given away, then somehow the cost is priced in. The extras seem to be quite valuable, as we judge by their usual sales price. The cost is a fraction of it.

I noticed the practice of free gifts is quite widely spread in Asia. To buy a TV and not getting a discount and a DVD player or more is unheard off. We have quite a few spare things under the stairs, free rice cookers, umbrellas, etc. Some items quite useful and good quality, others best described as obscure.

I am with Costas, letting the wife do the talking. Usually she states that Hubby want buy if no discount and freebie. ...

Even online you get extras. See pic below.

Also OP needs to review his attitude towards other posters. This is not a deadly serious topic for many.

  8. What is this stalker actually doing? Doe he send you pm?what do they say?

I find it hard to believe you cannot simply ignore him? I mean somebody sending messages is a bit like receiving endless advertisement in the mail, no? A bit annoying, and lands straight in the trash bin....

  9. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Already planning a trip to Khao Yai.

I love wine more than beer but what I don't like is paying high prices for wine.

I will update you after my trip and wine tasting.

If you love wine, you will be disappointed. I have tried around quite a bit and have not found anything that did no leave scares on my tongue.

    Have some grapes instead.

  10. I bought 8 years ago a large Whirlpool refrigerator. When it came to change the water filter, we went back to power buy. They needed 3 months to gets us the filter imported at horrendous cost.

Ever since been buying them on ebay, 2 or 3 at the time and much cheaper.

My advise is for the OP to do the same. When you install the last filter you have, order the new set.

There are some filters from different makers, I. E. Aquapur. They come in various seizes for all possible types of refrigerators. I had only good experience with those. We change filter about every 3 to 4 months.
