Big C has some selection of western food under their house brand "Casino", which is of acceptable quality and price. Also "Tesco" branded Western food is quite acceptable.

veggies and fruits we do buy at local farmers market. Meats etc. Mostly at Makro. Villa Market, Foodland and Tops are simply too expensive for regular use, but sometimes necessary for special stuff.

The purity law (Reinheitsgebot) was repealed in 1987.

It was replaced by a beer Gesetz in 1993, wich is a result of European intervention and allows for more ingredients. Anyway, reputable German brewers still advertise following the old purity law.

OP: The Thai Passport office would have zero interest in your GF's financial affairs or the status of her son if she departs Thailand without him. Could be she has an issue with Thai police / Court who have requested Immigration to put a stop on her passport until she clears her debts.
