  1. Sheryl's post is the most important and gives you all guidance needed.
8 years ago our second child was born. I had a company insurance with enough coverage for normal or cesarean at Bangkok International. So we went there. Unfortunately we had some troubles including 2 weeks NICU. That cost us (after long negotiations with hospital) still 600k more than the insurance cover provided. Be careful!

  2. I would pay THB1.000.000 for lifetime visa. Alternatively, I would also pay 50.000 annually for easy visa. Not sure how much my extension of stay costs me now, guess around 6k with reentry permit etc. Just utterly despise the paperwork, time spent and especially stupid banking requirements.
I would also pay 1.000 baht each time to use fast track, if not travelling in business.

  3. The term "humane" is used by vets, lab techs, pet owners, hunters, etc the world over. For example, it's humane to peacefully put down a terminally ill pet that's suffering. Or to shoot a deer in the head; it would inhumane to shoot its stomach and let it bleed out. It's just basic common sense (and some humanity/dignity).

Thanks, I am fully aware of the term. Did not want to kick lose a philosophical discussion.
Question remains what is a humane method to kill rats in ceiling. Warfarin works for us.
  4. Catch and release traps dont work for me, no way to get them into the ceiling. I have been using warfarin poison from big C successfully. Is there a "humane" way of killing rats?
I find the concept of humane killing to be oxymoron-ic.

  5. This a rear end accident....the motocy is wrong.

Get this. My wife parked her Vigo quite legally on the site of the road. She even left the warning lights on, as it was twilight and the road lights seemed not to go on.
Anyway, shortly after a motorbike drove into her Vigo at quite some speed and nearly killed himself.
Traffic police tried to blame my wife and took the case to court.
Luckily it was ruled the bikes fault. Btw he had no insurance and ask my wife if he could pay the damage in 1000 baht a monthly installments. Our insurance objected...
Nothing is clear cut here. Best to have good insurance taking care of things....
  6. We just went for a couple days to bang saen. Close to bangkok, mainly domestic tourists, excellent fresh seafood. I have never seen the place so empty as now.
We also visited quickly Silverlake vineyards and a kart track nearby. Same there, extremely few people around.
Only place jammed were the roads.
To me it looks like another low "high season".

  7. Here loaning is in Indian hands. i think if you borrow 6,000, you have to pay 300 baht a day for 25 days.

These are small loans, short term, almost always to workers who would not get any money from the banks. I often said to my wife that it is tempting to do that business.

Also know of a thai loaning 25 k and charging 5 k interest per month, until paid back.

This is going on all over the place. guess the German did it a tat too professional.

  8. So, I got the Tesco Turkey's. (sounds somewhat weird)

Ordered a medium and a large. Price tag was exactly like described online, makes me think it was not really weight... Anyway, small stuff.

Whilst better packed than any Thai Turkey I have seen before, fact remains, they are Thai!. I have attached photos below.

On the weekend I will try and roast off the smaller one. Might end up rolling the Legs and Roast the breasts separately.  May even have to brine them. If that works sufficiently good, then we will have Turkey for Christmas. If not, we will have Duck! Period.

    Will keep you posted.

    For now, Happy Thanksgiving !
