Prices were the same in the ma & pa shop near my house. Not checked out the 7/11 yet though. Like most I think the size of the increase in the tax is the main problem not the actual tax itself. I hope that the general Thai public kick up a stink about it and the moron that made this decision gets a good slap around the head.

A gift for each child will not be easy. Better to buy a few gifts the whole class can enjoy.

All I know is on Saturday night I was out on the scooter, got a flat tire and had to wait for them to fix it. I went for a beer and a hour later I went back for my bike. Well the heavens decided I needed to get wet on the outside as well. One of the heaviest storms we have had here in Uttaradit for a while. I had to wring my shirt out before I went in, plus the lightening strikes fixed many a peoples constipation issues.

Just look at the thickness of the walls and the main supports......lucky no one was actually in the building when there was a little rain. The people who built it should be ashamed of such low quality work but who am I kidding, they just wanted fast cash and will most likely not be fined for their shoddy work.

He will be gone before they can arrest him. They are just trying to push them all out of Thailand 1 by 1. Obviously the whole family are corrupt and they do need to pay for their crimes but they aren't. They all will get pulled into a court case and then do a runner with pretty much all their dirty money and at the cost of the tax paying Thai people. A complete sham from start to finish.

I got hit with a fine about 2 years ago at Nan immigration. I only went there to transfer stamps from my old passport to my new one and then they asked about my address. I had lived in the same house for over 10 years but the owner had never submitted the foreigner staying at her home because, 1. It is a crock, 2. why would a Thai know about this as it is not widely know, unless they own apartments/hotels or live in a tourist city. 3. I got hit with the fine, not the owner as I was the person in front of them. I argued a little stating that this was not my responsibility but you can all guess their response. You farang you pay, they were trying to get more than the 2,000 stated but I stood my ground and would only give them that amount. Trying to get a receipt for the payment was also difficult but finely they did write me one.

I have lived here now for more than 10 years and I still gt treated from one spectrum to the other. Some kids will run up and hug me and want to converse and others will run a mile. I guess it is all down to how their parents represent us and also how we represent ourselves. It's not the kids fault and I hold no grudges as most of them come around and are friendly once they get to know me.

Why do we even bother to have an embassy here anymore?? They do F&*k all and charge way over the top for something that should be free. We can not even get passports processed here anymore and have to pay through the nose to and use an agency to perform the task of sending it back home. Sell up the embassy estate and kick them out. No use to anyone and just wasting tax payers money.

To be honest the teacher should have talked with the parents about their kids behaviour and then leave it up to the parents to issue what they seemed fit as a punishment, rather than doing it themselves. There is a very thin line between corrective punishment and out right sadistic punishment. I know I was thrashed as a child when I was bad but it made me understand right and wrong. Looking today at this generation, they get away with murder and complain if they get shouted at, let alone if someone would take a belt to them.

My wife mentioned it yesterday to me that if I want to get a driving license I now need to have a yellow house book, otherwise they will not let me apply. I already had a license but as often happens I forgot about re-newing it and it has expired. I was hoping after already passing the tests I could just show them the old license and get a new one issued. If anyone knows differently please comment.

Thailand was going to bent over and served a sever butt whooping if this went all the way to court. About time this country understood that if you deal with international companies they will not just give up and handover control of something that they have invested. in. Not like the poor farang who opens a bar and pours his money into it to make it nice just to be booted out by a Thai heavy and his BIB mates.

The guy is a moron! Just look at him..........he would struggle to run a ma & pa shop with the IQ he possibly has. A complete Gimp!

If I or any other foreigner was on over stay you can be damn sure they would know where we were and where the nearest ATM machine was. This country has turned into a complete shambles!

Pure stupidity!

3 months is about 700 baht. 6 months is 1,500 baht and 1 year 3,100 baht. plus depending on the work you might have to have a syphilis blood test before applying for the WP. This is usual if it is a teaching job here.

I was working in a vocational college but they wanted to be cheap charlies and now have teachers from Bhutan and Flips.

I would not touch any game in Thailand that involves cash. They cheat and get very pissed off when they lose and have to pay up. Not worth the effort and no fun at all when they lose it mentally. If Thailand ever opened a legit casino most cars/houses/land and females of the family would be used as currency. SE Asian men and also women have no control when it comes to gambling.

Two choices. Explain to your wife your concerns and make sure she understands that she must act as a mother should or you let her go and keep your daughter back in the UK with you. The thing with Thai women I have found after 13 yrs of living here is, they think if they scream and stomp around like kids they can get their own way. Man up and tell her the deal.

According the rules issued in 2008 a work permit is not tied to your permit to stay. I think you have a work permit office or your employer doing things the old way. Perhaps your employer is only applying for a 3 month work permit instead of one year.
You could be right uubonjoe. I think they were playing silly buggers and giving me the run around.

Usually the WP is issued for a year ??
I was also under the impression that the WP was issued to your working contract but supposedly not anymore. It is linked to the time left on the stamp in your passport. So like I said, every 3 months I had to re-apply for a new extension on my WP even though I was still working in the same place.

I know in my last job I had a Non-O multi entry visa. I got the work permit but the problem was that they would only give me til the stamp in my passport before I had to do a border run. So every 3 months I would have to spend about 2 hours to get my WP updated plus had to have blood tests for each time they extended my WP. A real pain to have to keep doing. Supposedly now the WP goes by the dates of your visa or extension and not to the contract between the employer and employee. That was in my case anyway, maybe I just had a real stringent labour officer.

Whats this soldiers address? I would happily meet with him and serve some real justice.
