  1. Last week I was teaching about foods and linking it with like / don't like. From the 20 classes I taught I would say only about 15% of the students per class, said they liked Durian. The new generation of Thai's seem to be shifting from eating mostly Thai foods and are now enjoying foreign  foods more. To be honest I have seen many hotels, apartments, shops and even the 7/11's which will not allow Durians to be consumed within their premises. Most buses will only allow it to be loaded on if it is in the under compartment. Planes will not accept unless it goes with the main luggage and most taxis will not accept it in the car. For me, I think it is horrible. It stinks and does not taste good. It is also not healthy to eat in high quantity especially for people with diabetes and should not be consumed with alcohol as it can kill you.

  2. I say to facebook. Ban Thailand from using your service. I think within a week there will be Anarchy and the government will topple because the people will finally grow some balls and do what they should have done in the first place. Which is to stand up and be heard, not addressed to every Friday night by a un-elected official.

    In a UK study

50% of e-cigarette users have been able to quit

must be about tax revenue and not about the nations health

This is totally about the money the country makes from tax from cigs, booze. If they could make a monopoly on e-cigs, drugs and sex it would be totally legal but they cant. The world is now bigger than mere governments and they dont like it. So stomp on the little man.

  4. To be honest, why would you go to the police about this in the first place? No wonder they get nothing done when they have to do with stuff that has nothing to do with them in the first place. This is the problem with many Thai people. They have a problem they run to the police without thinking, maybe they could use another branch of the government. Purely childish actions. You have a problem at work, you go to the labour office, you have problems with your electric, you go to the electric company office.............not the police. Buffalo's the pair of them

  5. About two years ago I had to go to immigration to get an extenstion on my visa. The same thing popped up about this TM30 requirement. I had informed the landlady that she needed to inform inmmigration about my staying in her house. I had been living in her rented house for more than 10 years but when I went to immigration they informed me that she had not done what I had asked her to do, so I got hit with a 2,000 baht fine. The best thing you can do is find somewhere else to live without these <deleted> trying to circumvent paying alittle tax if any on their rented property. There must be better places to stay where you are and will not put you to bother.

  6. Recently I was asked if I was married and I said "Yes". I was then asked," why do I have to go out of the country every 3 months". Well, this was a Thai person asking me of course and they have no clue about the BS we have to endure if we do not meet their requirements. So this got me thinking, am I really married, after all if it was the shoe on the other foot she would be entitled to citizenship after a time plus no hassle with yearly extenstion/visa runs. I also know it is much easier if the foreigner is female to marry, but still why the big difference. So I am I really married? What happens if I can not fulfill the immigration requirements? I get deported? What happens to my wife? At the moment I am all good but for some people this is a real question, even if you are legally married to a Thai your life hangs by a thread and it should not be like this, male or female. I am bored of the BS and doing border runs. No wonder so many foreign men including myself turn to beer. I am getting off the beer and plan to retrain myself for the real world....... it looks grim!

Wow...and this is coming from the person who knows everything about visa requirements. This is pretty troubling. What the heck is going on with immigration. Why on earth is it so complicated

Sent from my SM-G920V using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Wrong! ubonjoe is the visa advice man. I have heard that Savannakhet is only good for getting the marriage visa, tourist visa and Non-B. Retirement visas are difficult to get there, no understanding why but thats the case.

  8. maybe if the government is so quick to change its mind about minor issues, we should push for the bigger ones. Such as visa requirements and other silly requirements that us farang have to keep meeting or we are kicked out. I know for a fact my wife, who is Thai, is bored of having to keep going to immigration everytime my extenstion comes up. It is about time they give 1 yr to people who are married, 5 yrs to 10 yrs to people who are married and can prove cash in the bank.

  9. Pretty hot here in Uttaradit but to be honest it is known to be one of the regions in Thailand that does get hot during this period. We did have some rain last week but I expect the temps to be the same as last year. It hit 45 degrees for a few days during May, so not looking forward to that. I did hear from some locals that this year we will be hit hard in all seasons. So expect the mercury to rise, get really wet during the rainy seasonnand possibly invest in a heater for the cool season.

  10. This is not a new thing. Thailand has a very bad sewer system which helps as a breeding ground for rats, cockroaches and even snakes who are after the rats. To fix this problem would cost way too much money to fix, as Bangkok is basically a going to go under the water anyway in about 100+ years. It would be better for Thailand if they started to fund the next capital city and its infrastructure rather than waste the cash on Bangkok. Issan is a good bet as the site for the next capital city!

You can only work on a NON IMM B visa, which is then converted to a 'work visa' at immigration once you have attained the blue book work permit. The 'work visa' is then dated to the same date that your contract expires. The 'work visa' can then be extended at immigration when you have a new contract for the following year, without you having to leave the country. You can have multiple entry, [and pay for it] if you intend to leave the country, for example: to take holiday, a couple of times during the year.

It is not legal to work on a 'Thai wife visa', this kind of visa has to be converted to a NON IMM B before you can start the work permit and 'work visa' process.

PS. Why are they talking to your wife and not you?

PPS. Please don't tell me you are teaching English!

Thank you UbonJoe for enlightening Jeremy50. JaiMaai you are correct that they have given me just about a months notice, so it does look like I will not be able to push for a full months salary.

To Jeremy50, I am  guessing the reason they are talking to my wife is because she is Thai and it makes it easier for them. Not really very professional but it is what it is. Yes, I am teaching English but did not realise that on a forum I had to make sure everything was up to your standards.I was venting alittle and just typing away.
