Yogurt not made from milk? What's that called?
-
Since the ThaiVisa classifieds are no longer in service, there is no best place to search. But many houses in villages around San Sai, however, selling to a farang (who cannot own the land) may present many problems to a local seller.

I always suggest Sai Kung, a fishing village full of top-rate seafood restaurants along the seafront. After a decent lunch of lobster, crabs, grouper etc, trot on up to the nearby Maclehose Trail for a few klicks of great hiking. Energetic? Then up you go to Ma On Shan peak, only on foot though. Lots of paragliders up there on good thermal days.
Then stop at the many pubs catering to the large expat crowd of Brits, Aussies and Yanks. Still need a treat: grab the golf ferry to the public golf island, Kau Sai Chau. The 20 min ferry ride is fun on the rear deck, esp in choppy, stormy weather. Can eat/drink on that island but no real hiking, golf course out-of-bounds for spectators.
Yes, must also advise the weekends or public holidays are very difficult becoz of the crowds, but mostly HK folks, few mainlanders. And do bring all your credit cards, you will need them.

555. Yes, now the rule is that anything, (text, photos, or porn cartoons) you post on the internet belongs totally to the website. It's not your's anymore. Unless you submit a 'watermark' on the item you want to post signifying your ownership. But then the website won't post it!! 555.

Thanks all. Not in BKK so can't search breaker yards but local (CM) Chevy dealer service mgr is checking for me. I'm sure he knows if acceptable shock is available in T'land. I had also thought shocks ought to be pretty common in fitting so might go with 'almost perfect'!

Duty? That's some kind of tax on the ??value?? of the car part? Say i pay US$50 for a part in the UK, then that is shipped to T'land. What will be the duty on that part? Any ideas or where do i find the duty list? If any exists. And if the part came through the mails, not FedEX, will that help?
What if the part was shipped direct to a car dealer, not to me?
-
The car is oddball, and old, but the parts pretty normal after 20 yrs wear and tear. Front suspension parts like shocks, mostly. Some vendor in the UK has supply of parts and says will ship International.
Anyone have experience with buying and shipping new/used car parts toT'land?

Is this the place to inquire about renewal of car registration? At first go, 1 or 2 yrs ago, i needed to get an 'inspection', since my car was old. Will i need the inspection again?
What kind of paperwork will i need to present?

Yeah, that ColabaMUMBAI guy lives in a small, convenient town, populated only by friendly locals all wishing him well and serving his needs.
Mumbai is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world.
Possible that Chiang Mai, even these days, offers a superior life to the agglomeration known as Mumbai. I like it here, but wish for a much longer winter: six months!!

My old clunker's power steering unit is failing, so says the mechanic. But a replacement will be too costly, 25000 baht. So i'm inclined to let it fail and start steering the old fashioned way, using arm muscle to turn the wheel.
Am i missing some vital piece of information here? Or is the consensus 'sure, let it fail, no harm or danger'?

Hong Kong permits only 19 cigarettes. Not even one pack. This to avoid any smuggling from china.

Any recent news on the flea market? Not in old location, not at RR station park. Gone forever? Anyone know?

Back home i drink Chevrolet.

If so, expect more traffic delays on HK Road.

So, higher price if brewed off Thailand and imported. May as well get German, Japanese, or USA beer if must pay high import tax.

This is normal and centuries old. Celebrate natural events, decry man-made catastrophe.

I have not in 3 months seen the CM TV classified ads. Not long ago, I was a 3x weekly viewer and often bought things from other folks but now i cannot see them. I always get some kind of error message.
Am i the only one getting the error message? Does TV care that i never see the ads? If i cannot see the ads, then surely i will never try to sell any item on TV.

I've got crappy TV coverage too, in my apt building. Yesterday watching ladies golf from France, the station blinked twice and then went to a Vietnamese soap opera. And never returned to golf.
Probably due to the cheapest possible TV cable package in the apt building. I can't see any solution except to buy my own dish antenna. Won't happen.

We find 'morality' rather culturally conditioned esp regarding sex, don't you think? Western culture sees 'evil' but others see only tradition, normality and often, necessity.
Yeah, i think kids ought to be protected, educated, loved and honored.

Want to buy a book recently published by the CMU Press and would like to go to any nearby shop, on or off the campus, to buy this book. Rather than online, or any such option.
thnx

Hey, CMTG, cram you stoopid comments. You are just arrived off the boat, 45 posts, and don't know shit'e. I offer zen meditation classes and the place is filled with cushions and yoga mats and so i keep a spartan house. We have all we need or want.
Go back to Orlando if that is your standard of 'the good life'.

I rent a 2 bed/2bath clean well constructed house in San Sai, near the 121/118 intersection, for 6K baht per month, unfurnished. Utils total under 1K per month.

The chinese policy is simple: lie and deny, lie and deny and once more, lie and deny. Simple, eh?
Swimming pools with public access ?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Phil wants 100 baht per hour to swim, on short term membership. Just down the lane is the 700 year stadium Olympic sized pool, 100 baht all day, or 30 baht with 750 baht per year membership. I do wish the 700 year pool opened at 6:30 am, before the blazing sun is up. Lovely hour then.
