Bruce, everything is tolerable, except the crash landing. Save the bucks and enjoy our best wishes.

Plz be careful of your CEC breakfast review. Even expat clubs can sue for defamation, in T'land

From what i know, for you the 'walk in' process will be best. I suppose bring some local address, passport and money. All else can be had at Promenada on the day of your visit. At Prom just look for the queue marked '90 days'.

Korean Air from CNX to ICN (Seoul), then direct to ATL. Could not be easier or better. And the few hours layover is well served by the fab KA lounges scattered over the lovely ICN airport. Really, it's 'eat/drink/andfly'.
But hey, go chinese if you want. they make and run the cheapest of everything.

Pray to god it doesn't come to Chiang Mai.

Can a vegetarian eat butter? I'm not keen on palm oil. When i was a ditch digger and needed calories at the end of the day i plastered a warm tortilla with butter, spread gobs of crunchy peanut butter and topped off with hills of honey.

Seems the CM Immig process encourages spending by expats. Use the new Alien form means more photos are needed, long queue lines means expensive agents thrive, the officer needs a copy of 3 yr old entry stamp and that helps the copy shop stay busy.
I also believe that one element of Thai thinking is to keep more Thais working so there is a resistance to modernization, computerization and the like. The Asian way is also top-down driven so no underling, or service recipient, can criticize or correct the 'boss'. That is precisely what the current Thai govt is all about. The idea extends down to the lowest Immig clerk.
And don't forget, retired people 'have all the time in the world'. For me, a once a year, very minor, Immig drama is far outweighed by the positive elements of living in CM.

No, that's not correct. Mum did not cut a square hole in the kid's pants. Pants made with the opening in the back are 100% normal, everyday clothes for kids in china. If you had no washing machine, a limited supply of water and no soap, how would you handle the mess?
The hole in the pants is a reasonable solution if in a small farm village but once tracked into town, even Beijing, the solution becomes more an issue.
I was in the CNX airport waiting for Immig clearance some chinese guy was hollering his head off towards his gf. Really annoying esp since she was only 3 meters away. I gave him a few words of mandarin and he slunk away, saying sorry, sorry.

Try MONG bikes, on Chiang Moi Rd, about 1 km from the moat. He has a variety of upgrade bikes for rent.

In the queue at 5am, hard seat #3. Out the door at 11:15 with retirement extension and multi-entry stamp.
The Foreign Alien form a big nuisance. Why fill out 2 of those things? Seems like there are conflicting interests in the Immig office.
But I'm pretty satisfied for a rainy Monday morn.
So till next year...ta-ta.

When traveling i always carry a set of big-muff hearing protectors. Useful on the airplane. And in the hotel room when the bar/dogs/neighbors/trucks/motorbikes just get too loud at night i simply pop them on my ears and i'm off to dreamland.
You might consider the same whenever the shooting starts.

In place like this, and china, north korea, etc, the guilt or innocence of any person belongs to the political leaders. The 'law' guys (attorneys and judges) have no say in the matter.

That's corn for making corn alcohol to mix with the petrol. Called 'Gas ahol'. Big bucks operating the alcohol factory, that would be some rich guy in Bangkok.

Last week Prez Duerte gets the big news for his 'profane speech'. Now some TV member offers a 'profane flame'. What is the world coming to?

Hard to understand your message, trujillo. Looks to me like you f*cked up by not reading label then blamed the baker for your failed burrito. But mostly you want attention.

Did not ask for opinions, only directions to the shop. But thanks, all.

Eye pigment varies with genetic component. Thais don't need sunblock, hats or sunglasses coz they have plenty of pigment in the skin and eyes. Really only a few folks have blue eyes, white skin (genetic recessives) and they are at a big disadvantage, esp in the tropics where the sun's radiation is maximum. The additional problem of the reflected radiation, off the concrete roads, buildings and esp beaches, makes life here even more troublesome for those with little pigmentation. Out in the forest, or golf course, the radiation is absorbed the the leaves, so under the big tree is good.
Sure, if you are blue eyed and come from Scotland maybe you did not need sunglasses or sunblock there, but here your eyes will hurt and your skin easily damaged by the radiation. The radiation will easily damage the light colored eyes too; permanently.
OZ has a very high rate of skin cancer amongst the farmers coz they mostly have the white sun-sensitive skin as inherited from the ancestors, former Brits. Of course, skin cancer almost unknown amongst the local black folks of OZ.
Unless for fashion reasons, sunglasses for Thais are totally un-needed and not part of the traditional culture.

I need to give a squirt of starting fluid aka, pressurized ether in a spray can. It's common as dirt in cold north america but don't know about T'land. If you have seen it in CM, or used this product recently, plz share.

I drive an old Opel, 5 speed, made in Germany. Works fine day to day. But when i go away for 6 weeks and return to start the car, failure. Battery good, cranks strongly and plenty of petrol. This car has fuel injectors and i'm so old that i grew on cars with carburetors, so i'm kind of ignorant on troubleshooting this thing.
Pump the gas pedal? Don't pump? If pump a few times, can smell the gas. Tries to start but won't get on. Spark plugs and injectors good, serviced recently. Seems some kind of air/fuel mixture not right.
But due to idleness? Any help welcome.

Well, of course regardless of what you do, drink pints a night, smoke like a chimney, cultivate locals, learn the lingo, watch golf on the telly all day, join the expats club or not, eat at Dukes or the corner shack...the end result is always the same.

Simply google these words 'age related testosterone levels' mate, and you will learn what lies ahead. And i'm not just talking about bedroom activities, but every durn aspect of the physical life goes downhill, and rapidly. The eyes can't see well, the joints can't move well, the muscles no longer lift the bag of rice, the legs can't pump the bike uphill, the urinary tract starts to fail, ...you name the function and after age 70 that function is in deep decline.
No wonder the bitterness arises. Bitterness is a mental state which some men cannot avoid. And to avoid this state of mind takes substantial daily effort: it's a choice but does take training/work to elevate the mind away from the reality of 'old age'.

Apparently so. I've not seen any ads for 3 weeks, or more. In May, June etc, i looked at the TV CM classifieds every day and often found useful items. I have not looked once since the new and improved version of TV appeared, which does not offer the same service.
Nor can i find the TV 'quick nav' so now i look at TV 5 mins per day, not the 20 mins as before.

Have never seen a round hob.

The steel is pretty thick, maybe 3mm and bolted to the cement, also somewhat cramped for space. If i heat the metal with a propane torch, will the drill bit bite into the steel easier and make the job go faster?
I have a powerful drill which also has a hammer function but can't see how the hammer function would help.
